Vintage 1976 Fender Champ Silverface Tube Guitar Amp. Excellent working condition with warm sound. Has the original red 3-prong wall plug on the heavy duty 10 foot cable and in good shape. Amp puts out a strong, loud and healthy sound, really open and in your face , very little hum or noise, so it’s working excellent like it should. The grill cloth is in excellent condition , no rips or fraying. No pitting or corrosion on the faceplate, the black tolex covering in nice shape. Never stored in a damp basement or garage. Vintage Rare Montgomery Ward Tube Amp 8436 Guitar Champ like! . Tubes are 1 6v6, 6X5GT, 6SJ7. Volume is a little low, which is great since you can crank it. Also, remove the metal on the grill cloth before playing since it vibrates a lot. Looks cool, but that is something I’m sure came off. Make from Particle board and just an amazing little amp – hate to part with it, but I don’t use it. Up for sale, a 1956 Fender Champ in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A transitional model, this early 5F1 circuit Champ is a very rare iteration with a narrow panel enclosure, 6 speaker, and 5E1 tube chart from the Champ’s previous circuit designation. With a bit more splat and looseness than the later 8 speaker-equipped Champs, the hallmarks of the 5F1 circuit are still evident with this amp. It’s a simple and elegant circuit that drives a single 6V6 power tube for everything from snappy cleans (with a single coil) to thick overdriven bark (achieved easily even at low settings on the dial with a P-90 or humbucker). There’s nothing that can match the rich dynamic sizzle of a 5F1 Champ, an essential studio tool that always punches well above its weight on a track. The circuit features the original Triad power transformer, with an output transformer of similar vintage with the correct output characteristics and size, yet not original to the amp. The original pot and jacks are present too, and the circuit has been rebuilt with premium preamp and power supply caps and all carbon comp resistors. The chassis retains much of the original white silkscreen lettering and stock chicken head knob too, with minor pitting on the chrome faceplate. The original Stackpole pot is present, and the era-correct Jensen speaker has a clean frame and original foil sticker on the alnico magnet. The speaker has also been recently reconed, guaranteed to handle the full tonal spectrum that the circuit delivers. The “FL” stamp on the tube chart translates to December of 1956, and the chart itself is very clean, still retaining the 5E1 circuit designation of the previous Champ iteration (a very common occurrence in Fenders of this era). The tubes are all vintage valves including a General Electric 6V6 power tube and 5Y3 rectifier. Cosmetically, the original lacquered tweed is well cared for with modest ambering, some fraying at the right front corner, and a bit of staining on the bottom of the enclosure, which retains the original four nail in feet. Both back panels are original as well as the baffle, which retains the original oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe, while the leather handle is a modern replacement. This very early 5F1 circuit Champ is clean, recently serviced, and equipped with a 6 vintage Jensen speaker. Up for sale, a 1968 Fender Vibro Champ in excellent condition and in perfect working order with transitional cosmetic features. One of the first Silverface-era Fender amps produced, this Vibro Champ features “Drip Edge, Black Line” cosmetics, with aluminum trim framing the grillcloth and slender vertical black lines on the faceplate. Under the hood the circuit is identical to Fender’s Blackface amps of just a few months prior, and the Vibro Champ’s five watt Class A circuit delivers clear, chiming cleans and raucous, sizzling drive with a twist of the Volume knob. The Vibrato has a nice pulse and chop too, and this amp is a studio and apartment-friendly combo that delivers a dynamic, sparkling vintage Fender sound. The circuit is largely untouched, with original transformers that date to the first weeks of’68, and CTS pots that date back to 1966. All of the original pots are intact save one, and the preamp only has a few new capacitors as necessary to keep the amp functioning optimally. The tube compliment includes a modern Grooves Tubes 6V6 power tube, with a vintage Jan/Phillips 5Y3 rectifier and pair of modern preamp tubes. The speaker is a modern 8 replacement courtesy of Weber, and the ceramic magnet keeps the low end tighter and fuller than the stock speaker. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe is intact, and the grill features both the transitional aluminum trim and small tail-less Fender logo only seen on the very first Silverface Fender amps. The grillcloth shows light uniform aging, and all of the original hardware is intact with modest surface patina including the handle caps, chassis straps, and sphinx glides (feet). The enclosure shows only one notable divot on the top edge adjacent to one of the chassis straps.
