Up for sale, a 2008 Marshall JTM45 2245 vintage reissue tube amp head in near mint condition and in perfect working order. Marshall’s meticulous recreation of their original and highly coveted 30 watt circuit, the JTM45 is a two-channel four-input affair, driving a pair of 5881 (6L6) power tubes and boasting a GZ34 rectifier. Yielding plenty of volume and punch, this pure and dynamic Marshall circuit really shines when jumpering the two channels for cascading gain and fine-tuned overdrive textures. It’s a straightforward, top-tier Marshall circuit, virtually untouched since it left the factory save for a pair of more recent, properly biased power tubes. The smooth black tolex is practically perfect save for one small scuff on the back panel and a tiny bit of wear on one back bottom corner. The plexi control plate is clean as can be with its full compliment of knobs, and the small Marshall logo and gold piping top off this spectacular JTM45 reissue. Made in England vintage 1970′s Sound City 120B 120 Watt bass amplifier head. This head is a BEAST and while these heads are not for everybody they. Have built a loyal following over the years. He was afraid to plug it into a cabinet for fear that this mighty head might blow the speakers! I have since tested it out, plugging it into a Peavey 4×12 guitar cabinet. To my ear it sounded pretty good, and did not blow any speakers in the cabinet despite its power. Having been in storage for years I’m sure it could use some work. It has six (count’em six) EL34 power tubes providing the 120 watts, three of which of the legendary vIntage Mullard EL34 power tubes, which I believe to be the original tubes. Of the 3 additional replacement EL34′s one is a vintage RCA, one a vintage GE and one a vintage Sylvania, all well respected tubes in their own right. All of the preamp tubes are Brimar (again, probably the original tubes). Two Partridge Transformer, which is what these heads originally came with. One does look newer so I don’t know if that might be a replacement. I can see that at least 3 of the pots have been replaced as they don’t match the rest. Some scratchiness in some of the pots. One of the knobs in the front was missing so I replaced that one with a “chicken head ” knob. I used to sell a lot of guitar amps on here and in the past I would have taken a head such as this to an amp tech and would have paid hundreds of dollars to have them go through the amp and restore it prior to listing it. I will guaranteee it will power on. The general consensus (from what I’ve read in online threads) regarding these heads is that they could use some mods to improve their sound and playability, although there is some dispute as to the optimum mods. Cosmetically this head is (in my opionion) in pretty good shape for a 40+ year old head. One small nick in the front bottom left section of the tolex but otherwise no rips or tears in the original tolex. Some wear in the top tolex and elsewhere. I have priced this head taking into account the need for resoration and repair and would be listing it for MUCH more were it already restored. Not fully sure what to call this one, but reckon it was a Sola Sound branded Vampower build originally, but the clipped off front panel might have been factory, no real need to have clipped it off for the presumably new sleeve in its history. Other half of the intact example had the model SS100. Its basically a vampower, with the bite control. Clearly had a life, and seems to have a power resistor that wasn’t soldered at one end from new, but it apparently worked enough to have been used a lot. Put new caps in underneath the chassis to retain the symmetry on the top, few resistors and such replaced inside. The built in’bite’ distortion is not to my taste, the clean is mighty, but think that distortion is part of the Vampower magic people are after. Obviously this is a heavy lump, but I can have it couriered, would massively prefer collection though. Original footswitch and aftermarket tough cover are included. This is a unique, vintage 1996 Marshall JCM 900 4100 Model. All tube, 2-channel dual reverb guitar amplifier head. It is completely stock and in great condition cosmetically and circuit-wise, with no modifications. This head has spent most of its life in a climate-controlled acoustics lab at the Fender headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ. It has not been gigged, not been on the road, and frankly not used much at all compared to a normal 25-year-old Marshall head. It has been sitting unused in my climate-controlled, smoke-free, pet-free home for two years. There are only a few cosmetic imperfections and detailed pictures are included. This is one of two JCM900 units Fender used over the years to create their Marshall high-gain amp emulations, which you’ll find in Fender modeling amps and plugins. If you’ve used a “British Hi-Gain” or similar Marshall amp model on a Fender product, it’s likely to be based on this exact amp head or its twin (also for sale). This has been kept in a clinical business environment and used only occasionally, the wear and tear is far less than you’d find on Marshall head being cranked daily and moved around by a touring/gigging musician. I have a DSL100HR from the same Fender lab up for sale as well. Current tube setup is. 3x JJ Tube 12AX7 / ECC83S (IMO hands-down best preamp tubes for Marshall heads). 4x Sovtek 5881 / 6L6WGC (warm tone, not harsh but has excellent breakup and bite when pushed). 4x JJ Tube 6L6 GC (warm tone, clear and crisp articulation on the highs with tight and rounded lows).
