Rare Vintage Knight El84 Tube Amp Amplifier (very Clean And Cute Look!)

A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THIS RARE VINTAGE KNIGHT EL84 TUBE AMPLIFIER IS PROVIDED AFTER THE PHOTOS. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE DESCRIPTION. This amplifier is one of the smallest and cutest EL84 tube amplifiers that Ive ever seen. I wasnt going to sell this amplifier since it is so cool-looking and cute but I decided to sell it and let it go to a new home where someone can appreciate and enjoy it. DETAILED INFORMATION INVOLVING THE AMPLIFIER. As the photos show, this amplifier has a very interesting, unique, and distinctive look to it as mentioned above and would make a wonderful addition to any vintage amplifier collection. It is also one of the smallest (and cutest) EL84 tube amplifiers that Ive ever seen. It is a Knight mono EL84 tube amplifier and has a very attractive and stylish look to it as the photos show. There is no model number on it but, from what Ive seen on the Internet, it appears to be a Model KM-15 (or possibly 83Y784). It has a very distinctive look to it and is very small probably one of the smallest 5-tube EL84 amplifiers ever made. Its chassis is only approximately 9.5 inches long and approximately 6 inches wide! I have also provided some good close-up views of this amplifier from a number of different angles. The amplifier chassis has a nice black finish on it with white lettering on the front which has the KNIGHT name on it. The black finish along with the silver-colored knobs creates a very cool-looking and retro appearance and in, in my view, the chassis looks good. There are some dings, dents, bends, nicks, scrapes, scratches, discolored areas, etc. Some of these items are difficult to see in the photos but they are there. Nonetheless, while the chassis shows signs of use, wear, etc. It again looks fairly good in my opinion, especially for its age probably around 60 years old! Regarding the knobs, they are all present and look very good in my view. They are very cool and distinctive-looking with their silver-colored inserts. There are some scratches, scrapes, etc. On the knobs but, overall, they look really nice in my view. As to whether they are original or not, I dont believe that they are original based on what Ive seen on the Internet but they appear to be fairly close to what the original knobs looked like according to various pictures of this amplifier that Ive seen on-line. But, in the absence any information to the contrary, it should be assumed that the knobs are not original but they look really good in my opinion. As discussed further below, this amplifier has not been tested and I have no idea as to the condition of the tubes, electronic components, wires, transformers and the other components, parts, switches, and controls, etc. Associated with the amplifier. I have not inspected, tested, or done anything to any of the components inside and outside of the amplifier and I know nothing about their condition. It should also be assumed that the amplifier is not working. Please make a note of this. However, as stated above, the amplifier is in nice cosmetic condition in my view as the photos clearly show. On the front of the amplifier, there are 2 white slide-switch, with one being labelled ON/OFF and the other being labelled PHONO/TUNER. These switches do seem somewhat tight (especially the ON/OFF switch) so they may need attention, replacement, etc. Accordingly, I have no idea if they (or any of the other controls) are good or not since I have not tested them. On one side of the amplifier, there are two jacks, with one being labelled PHONO and the other being labelled TUNER. At the rear of the amplifier there is a terminal strip with 4 screw-terminals (labelled 16, 8, 4, and C). There are also 3 controls on the front of the amplifier which are associated with the above-listed knobs. I do not know what these controls do. Likewise, I do not know what any of these switches, jacks, terminals, controls, etc. Do, whether they are operational/functional, whether they are original or not, etc. Regarding the power cord/plug, I dont know if it is original or not, if it is good or not, if it is wired correctly or not, and if it is the correct and appropriate one for this amplifier. This amplifier has a fairly large power transformer and an output transformer mounted on top of the chassis. They have a black finish which nicely matches the black finish of the amplifier chassis in my view. The power transformer has the following numbers on it: 101313 and 412922. Likewise, the output transformer has the following numbers on it: 102208 and 412915. I did notice that the power transformer has some scrapes, scratches, scuffs, and missing paint on it with the output transformer also having some scrapes, scratches, scuffs, missing paint, etc. It also appears that most some or most of these items (along with some blemishes on the amplifier chassis) were touched-up by the amplifiers former owner with black paint, black pen, or some other black materials. Please check out the photos of these items which show them from a number of different views and, in my view, they look decent. One thing which I did notice is that various portions of the amplifier chassis beneath the power transformer where the transformer is attached to the chassis have at least some areas which are bent downwardly. Some of this bending can be seen at the front of the amplifier as shown in the photos. I have no idea what this means and it is possible that something heavy was placed on the power transformer or the amplifier was dropped on its power transformer or something else. On the other hand the amplifier might have been this way since it was new. I have no idea regarding this situation and what caused it but I wanted to mention it. Accordingly, I have no idea if both of the transformers in this amplifier are good, functional, operational, original, correct for this amplifier, etc. Likewise, I will leave an assessment and analysis of both transformers as well as all of the amplifiers other parts, components, tubes, power cord/plug, controls, switches, etc. Regarding the tubes which are included with the amplifier (and came with it when I bought it), they are as follows: (A) 6BQ5 (EL84); (B) 6BQ5 EL84; (C) 6CA4; (D) 12AX7A; and (E) 12AX7A. I have provided a photo of these tubes. Regarding all of these tubes, I do not know if they are good or not and I have not tested them. I also dont know if these tubes are the correct ones for this amplifier, if they are original or not, and if they are in the correct sockets. Also, I did not check the tube sockets and I likewise cannot warrant or guarantee that they are good, original, functional, and operational. In addition, there are 2 silver-colored tube shields with this amplifier and were included with it when I bought it. I dont believe that they are original for this amplifier based on what Ive seen on the internet and they have some bends, scrapes, etc. However, in my view, they look fairly good and have a nice shiny appearance. I have provided an underside view of the amplifier chassis in one of the photos with its bottom cover removed. I have no idea if the wiring in the amplifier is correct or good and I dont know anything about the transformers used by the amplifier, as well as the other electronic components capacitors, resistors, controls, switches, etc. Associated with the amplifier. Specifically, I dont know whether or not these components and all of the other components/parts associated with the amplifier are good, correct, original, functional, properly-wired, etc. And I also dont know whether or not there are any missing components and parts. In addition, I dont know anything about the condition of the resistors, capacitors, wires, transformers, tubes, etc. And whether or not they are original, functional, correct for this amplifier, etc. As noted above, the amplifier has a bottom plate which I have also shown in the photos. The plate is in decent condition in my opinion although it does have a number of scuffs, scratches, scrapes, bends, dents, etc. On it from use and age. The plate is held in position by 6 screws. I dont know if these screws are original, correct, and proper for this amplifier. However, they look nice and shiny. Accordingly, I did not conduct an in-depth or detailed inspection of this amplifier for damage, missing parts, broken parts, incorrect parts, etc. Likewise, I would encourage a detailed overview of the many clear photos of this amplifier inside and out that I have provided since these photos should be considered to be part of the current description of the amplifier. In summary, this amplifier is, in my view, nice-looking, impressive, and has a very distinctive retro appearance. I also believe that it looks good for its age! Likewise, it is very clean-looking. Accordingly, it would make a wonderful addition to any vintage tube amplifier collection! Are original or not, and whether it is complete. I have not done anything to this amplifier and all of its parts, transformers, wires, electronic components, tubes, sockets, capacitors, resistors, jacks, switches, controls, power cord/plug, terminals, tube shields, and all of its other components and I know nothing about their condition. The above-described amplifier may have been worked on, repaired, and/or modified by someone else in the past, but I dont know whether this is true or not. In this regard, I have done nothing to this amplifier and I have not inspected it internally or externally and have not tested it (or any of its parts, tubes, controls, switches, power cord/plug, or other parts/components) in any manner. No other items such as boxes, cartons, paperwork, accessories, cages, or anything else are included. However, I do not know how much work, parts, wires, wiring work/replacement, repairs, rewiring, power transformer repair/replacement, output transformer repair/replacement, electronic components, power cord/plug, controls, tubes, jacks, sockets, resistors, capacitors, switches, terminals, tube shields, or other components/parts, etc. This amplifier is fairly heavy for its size. This amplifier has been very carefully packed/wrapped and is double-boxed, with all of its tubes being removed from their sockets and separately-wrapped. While I will pack this amplifier very securely, some of the wires, components, parts, capacitors, resistors, sockets, transformers, jacks, controls, knobs, terminals, and other parts/components etc. However, I have done my best to try and prevent these situations by very carefully packing and double-boxing this amplifier although I cannot guarantee that they wont happen. Furthermore, all of the tubes, tube sockets, tube shields, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, sockets, switches, power cord/plug, terminals, and all of the amplifiers other components/parts need to be checked out by an electronic expert to see if the tubes are good, if the tubes are the correct ones for this amplifier, if the tubes are in the correct sockets, and if all of the tubes, tube sockets, tube shields, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, power cord/plug, sockets, switches, terminals, and all of the amplifiers other components/parts are good, functional, correct for this amplifier, and operational before the amplifier is powered-up, tested, used, worked on, connected to any other equipment, instruments, or components, connected to a power source/supply, connected to any speakers, handled, repaired, modified, upgraded, etc. Likewise, I have no idea whether everything is original or not in the above-listed equipment and I therefore cannot make any warranties regarding originality. I also do not warrant that this amplifier is complete and I do not know if there are any missing, damaged, or incorrect parts, components, etc. This amplifier involves a piece of used vintage electrical equipment which needs restoration/repair, etc. The item “RARE VINTAGE KNIGHT EL84 TUBE AMP AMPLIFIER (VERY CLEAN AND CUTE LOOK!)” is in sale since Sunday, August 30, 2020. Vintage Knight KM15 Tube Amplifier EL84 12AX7 fr Guitar Amp WORKING Black Beauty

Up for sale here is this neat little vintage Knight KM15 tube amplifier, complete with tubes. This is used with moderate wear and some rust on the transformers, but it’s not too bad. There are four brackets screwed to the corners by a previous owner–I have no idea why. I brought this up on a Variac (not included) and it works great and plays well, with no hums or buzzes. This is a neat little mono (one-channel) amplifier, and you could enjoy it as-is or modify it to be an awesome guitar amp. When I got this, it was missing the knobs and tubes, so I replaced the knobs with some nice repro knobs and tubed it up. The tubes are two 12AX7 (vintage Made in USA 1956 CBS 12AX7s), two EL84/6BQ5 (Russian equivalents), and one 6V4 rectifier (NOS Tesla equivalent, I think Hungarian). The tubes all work fine. I cleaned the controls, so they work smoothly as well. This has three controls–volume, bass, and treble. Volume is on the left, bass is in the middle, treble is on the right. The pot for treble has less travel than the others, for whatever reason. Underneath the wiring is nice and clean, with a pair of. 022 uf 600v Sprague Black Beauty caps for that great vintage sound. The can cap is original as far as I know and runs nice and cool–no issues there. The back has a jack for an AC cord–not sure if this is a previous owner’s modification or what. This includes the bottom cover but does not have a top cage/cover, sorry. Please see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask. I have more tube amplifiers and other vintage electronics listed–feel free to take a look! Vintage Knight KB-85 Tube Amplifier with TOP CAGE COVER EL37 5AR4 12AX7 fr Rebuild

Up for sale here is this rare vintage Knight KB-85 tube amplifier. This normally runs 4 EL37 output tubes, two 5AR4 (GZ-34) rectifier tubes, two 12AX7 tubes, and two EF86 tubes. This includes two 12AX7s, two EF86s, four 5881 output tubes, but no 5AR4s, sorry. The EF86s and 12AX7s are untested but will probably work fine, but the 5881s are pretty worn-out and will need replacing. The two metal tube covers are included. This is in great shape with light to moderate overall wear, with absolutely beautiful chrome. The extremely rare top cage/cover is included. It has the Knight badge on one side. The cover does have some rust on it, but since the top part of the cover is removable it would be pretty easy to sand down and repaint it. This is currently in non-working condition. Other than the tubes, this appears to be completely original–the previous owner told me that this blew the fuse at least 30+ years ago and was just set aside at the time. Please see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask. I have a number of other vintage tube amplifiers and other vintage electronics listed–feel free to take a look! This is a used Knight tube mono amplifier. It is in very good cosmetic condition; see the pictures. It uses EL84 output tubes in push-pull config. It is in stock form and has “phono” and “tuner” inputs. It can be rewired for more gain (it has 2 – 12AX7′s). It has been used recently and it sounds good, playing an entire CD without any problems (CD player was plugged into the “tuner” input). It had a new power transformer installed, but it still does not have a fuse (as it came from the factory). The chassis was painted where the new transformer was installed but the paint does not match the surrounding area. All the tubes tested good on a Sencore TC154 tube tester.
