One of the cleanest examples you will come across! This particular amp has a lay down transformer. What this means is that Marshall built it with one of the transformers laying on its side. According to some Marshall collectors, having a transformer lay on its side makes a harmonic difference in the tone which produces a richer distortion and feedback compared to models which have their transformers in an upright layout. The previous owner had the power cable replaced, which is usually a desirable upgrade and makes a nominal difference in the amps “originality” or collectibility. All original except for power cord. Loaded full of Siemens & Telefunken tubes. ACCESSORIES INCLUDED: This item comes as seen in photos, and does not include any accessories. PHYSICAL CONDITION: Excellent – About as nice of shape as an amp of this age can be found in. Truly a lovely sight! Lining and tolex is free of tears or rips of any sort. Front-panel knobs and switches are a pristine as it gets. Rear-panel is perfect as well. Overall condition is excellent! WORKING CONDITION: Excellent – Such a superb sounding Marshall head, it’s almost impossible to put into words. The tone is stunning, both channels are amazing sounding and work as perfect as a brand new amp. The creamy, rich, and lush tones that emanate from this amp are simply astounding! 1983 JCM 800 MK2 50w 2204. New tubes about 8 weeks old, Previous owner modded with a volume attenuator next to the High Sensitivity input which allows you to push your tubes at lower volumes. Theres also some banana clip inputs to hook up studio speakers. (I guess that was a thing in the 80s) Looks like there was another mod started but never finished for an effects loop shown in the pics. This was a studio amp 90% of its life. When I acquired it I used it live for about 2 yrs in a road case. It will be missed. This amp comes just as you see it pictured. An uncommon Marshall model and one of the true hidden gems of the company’s’80s offerings, the Studio 15 has an unconventional 6V6 power tube compliment that delivers an envious array of classic Marshall tones. The cleans are smooth and dynamic, and the gain is absolutely roaring, with sizzle and bite that is characteristically closer to a Plexi than a JCM800. The controls are simple and straightforward, with a Gain knob, three bands of EQ, and an Output Level control so the player can balance cleans and grit at the desired volume. And even with the master volume in the lower part of its range, the amp still retains low end muscle and fullness. The original Celestion Vintage 30 is intact, with a BX prefix date code that translates to February of 1988. All of the original transformers are present and the amp is very clean cosmetically, with no wear of note. Up for sale is a used Marshall 4203 guitar amp in great shape. It powers on and sounds great once the tubes warm up. Everything appears to be all original including the tubes and speaker. The knobs all turn fine with no scratchiness or distortion. It is missing the EQ mid knob cap. The speaker works with no unwanted noise or issues. It takes a while for it to warm up when switched off of standby, could use new tubes. Playable as it is, but is worth noting. This is the last year they were hand wired with almost all of it’s original parts in tact.
