1980 Music Man 112RP Sixty-Five Vintage 1x12 Tube Amp with Reverb & Phasor

Up for sale, a 1980 Music Man 112RP Sixty-Five in exceptional condition and perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch. Launched in 1975, Music Man was founded by former Fender Plant Manager Forrest White, former Fender Sales Rep Tom Walker, and Leo Fender himself, with their very first product being an amplifier known as the “Sixty Five”. Being a hybrid affair, this amp matches a solid state preamp to an all tube power section, in this case EL-34s, providing plenty of headroom, with the warmth and fullness of a tube power section that can get as gritty as you want when the tubes are cooking! Making that easier, the amp features a Hi/Lo power switch, which actually works differently than most in that it’s not a 1/2 power switch, but rather a control for how much plate voltage the power tubes see, giving you control over the clean headroom where “Lo” is similar to a typical amp, and “Hi” sends a colder bias to the tubes. Tonally, this amp is very much in Fender territory with bold, sparkly cleans and dynamic grit. A later iteration of the Sixty-Five platform, this “RP” variant features onboard Reverb and Phasor [sic]. The three-spring Reverb is lush with a long decay, and the Phasor has a low noise floor (given where the effect is placed within the circuit) and rich, swooping textures. The amp also features Treble and Bass boost switches which adjust frequency ranges outside the Bass/Middle/Treble knobs for, as the original Music Man manual puts it, the equivalent of five-band equalization. The circuit is clean and virtually untouched, and the Schumacher transformers date to early 1980. The original CTS pots date to the 14th week of 1980. The tubes are a pair of properly biased USA-made Sylvania EL-34s that have plenty of life left. The speaker is the original Eminence-made ceramic magnet 12 driver with a minty black frame and clean Music Man foil sticker on the magnet. Cosmetically, this amp is extremely clean, with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. Naturally, there are a few minor scuffs and a touch of patina on the hardware, yet as the photos show this is a very well-kept vintage Music Man. The original two button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. International orders will be declared as merchandise, and the value of merchandise will be declared as the amount paid. We cannot declare anything as a gift or for a lesser value. I’d hit the trash cans of neighbors, industrial and retail centers, collecting interesting. Specimens of electronic chassis and motor driven gizmos, to dissect, study and organize. In my teens I built and studied projects from Heathkit and. Other schematics featured in Mechanics Illustrated, Electronics Illustrated and similar related publications. In the Navy I went to school, studied and. Worked as an Aviation Electrician repairing and servicing military aircraft. Now that I’m retired, I still love to tinker with electronic and mechanical. Several radios, record players, amplifiers, and color wheels that I will be restoring over the next several years. My goal is to make these old, vintage. Devices function like new again. The 210-65 features a 2-channel pre-amp, with one clean channel with Volume, Bass and Treble controls, and a second channel with a Volume, Master, Bass, Treble, switchable Tremolo and lush spring Reverb. It also has a bright switch and a deep switch. Unbelievable clean Fender style tones, yet when the power stage is pushed hard, the amp has full, natural tube distortion. The amp has a low/high power switch, which drops the plate voltage on the low power setting so the natural tube distortion happens later. Up for sale, a 1979 Music Man. 112 in excellent, original condition and perfect working order. Launched in 1975, Music Man was founded by former Fender Plant Manager Forrest White, former Fender Sales Rep Tom Walker, and Leo Fender himself, with their very first product being an amplifier known as the “Sixty Five”. Tonally, this amp is very much in Fender territory with bold, sparkley cleans and dynamic grit, and reminds us very much of a Pro Reverb with a brighter reverb and very unique tremolo, both of which are footswitchable. A two channel amp, the Sixty Five offers plenty of options for tone sculpting with both channels including Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass knobs as well as a Deep switch for filtering the low end when needed. The second channel boasts a Reverb knob, and Intensity and Speed knobs for the tremolo, as well as a Master Volume which governs both channels for achieving saturation at an appropriate volume for any given gig or studio situation. This Music Man sports the original Eminence-built, Music Man-branded, ceramic magnet speaker which has a smooth tonal response and chime that’s right at home in a Fender-style amp. The circuit is clean and essentially untouched, with original tone caps in the preamp and Schumacher transformers that date to’79. The original CTS pots date to the 41st week of 1979. The tubes are a pair of properly biased USA-made Sylvania EL-34s that have plenty of life left. Cosmetically, this amp is very clean, with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth.
