NO EXCEPTIONS, THANKS for understanding. Awesome vintage 50 Watt Peavey The Classic from 1974 – yes, this was the first version – Legend has it Lynyrd Skynyrd used this model amp! In very good condition, its been stored well and is overall very clean (no rips or tears, the tolex and grill are clean etc). Works perfectly, no issues at all. It has 6L6 power tubes I think the tubes in there are even the originals! And a solid state pre-amp. I like cranking the power tubes and using this amp as a really sweet clean platform for my pedals I. Cranking the master volume and pushing up the pre-amp to the volume I need, but you can also get a nice crunch out of it with a little more pre-amp. Pushing the pre-amp all the way goes into fuzz territory, pretty unique sound. It has had casters added on the bottom for easy loading. Its only moderately heavy (IMO) but way less then say a Fender Twin. The Reverb and Tremolo sound really excellent and can be turned on/off via the metal footswitch. This isnt the original footswitch but it works perfectly and is good quality. This will be a great amp for someone who wants a reliable, durable and awesome sounding amp that doesnt cost a fortune. This was actually my first ever amp back in the 80s not this exact one but the same model! This will be a great amp for someone out there! Hard to believe this is a 45 year old amp!! Up for sale is a terrific and hard to find 1×12 tube amp from Peavey…. As of the date of this listing, 10/24/2018, there are no other 1×12 Ultras for sale! So snag this one immediately while you still can! Reason # 1 is of course the sound you get from 2, count em’, TWO LARGE power tubes! I believe they are 6L6′s. Really makes this amp sing! It’s been stated that this unit sounds very reminiscent of a Mesa Boogie or like a precursor to the consequent legendary 5150′s that came out. Therefore, the clean sound is amazing… Super warm and round in the bass frequencies, just like a Mesa! Also makes it a great platform for your effects if you are a pedal or rack user who likes to get their distortion and/or other effects from outboard gear. The overdrive (crunch) channel on this amp is very musical. Excellent in my opinion! Start with the gain low and you can get all sorts of genres: classic rock, country, blues, etc. Go more than halfway and you’re into hard rock territory. Put the gain on 9 or dime it and you’re pretty much in convincing EVH brown sound territory…. Sounds so sweet here in this area! Want metal and/or high gain? Switch over to the Ultra Gain channel and you are easily there! With a overdrive and/or tube screamer (I’ve got a Fender Drive pedal, Maxon ROD 880, Ibanez DS10 Distortion Charger, and other dirt pedals available in my store) into this amp with the gain even less than halfway, and you’ve got that tight, focused searing sound you want when you play brutal high gain metal! It also sings nicely for solos and lead breaks! Top all of this off with a bright switche for the clean channel to liven up your dark humbucker guitar sounds, gain boost buttons for both the crunch and ultra lead channel, a power amp eq control consisting of a 3 position resonance switch , and you’ve got tons of sonic shaping options with just this one box! Also included is the 3 button footswitch that you NEED to be able to switch from the clean channel to the crunch channel as well as to be able to switch to the ultra gain channel! No reverb on this unit as the reverb tank is missing. You can easily install one if you want to. And with an effects loop put a delay pedal in there…. I have delays from Ibanez, Line 6, Rogue, Arion, and Behringer, etc. And you won’t even miss reverb! , parallel speaker jacks and a preamp out to round out your features, this is an all-in-one solution to all of your tonal necessities. Up for sale is an excellent and underrated tube amp by Peavey.. This one flies under the radar, but it is a very good sounding tube amp. Just check all of the youtube videos and what the owners have to say about this unit. Runs on 3 preamp tubes as well 2 6L6JJ power tubes. This amp seems to have a little bit more control knobs than a typical Peavey Tube amp from the 70s and 80s, like the Peavey Bravo. And this is a good thing! Gives it some really good versatility and allows the owner to have a lot of control over their sound, with many shades available. The typical knobs, like bass, mid and treble, are very reactive! Youve got enough options there to really change up the flavors of your sounds! But then youve also got the ability to pull out the pre (amp) knob and gives you a little more brightness to your sound.. Perfect for humbucker guitars, Theres the pump knob, which I think is the analog to the saturation knobs on the other aforementioned Peavey tube amps, which increases the gain, saturation and sustain to your overdrive. Perfect for adjusting your solos and leads. You can also pull the post (gain) knob and make you sound smooth as Peavey calls it. Sounds to me like it adds some bass frequencies and possibly some low mid frequencies. Perfect for single coil guitars. Pull out the high knob on your parametric eq, and it makes your sound thick according to Peavey. Sounds like low mids get boosted once again, and possibly some high mids and bass/lows. Did I mention that this amp also has a presence control? Add real spring reverb that sounds really good to the mix, and youve got a total all-in-one unit with the nice warm sounds of valves! Many good sounds can had from this box. Even if you keep the pre-amp gain low, the pump control low, and turn up the post or power amp volume, you can get a very nice classic rock crunch. It would also work well for country rhythms and for solos in soft rock. No problems with the sound of this particular unit either! The power tubes are fairly new and all you get from this machine is tone, tone, tone! No cleaning pots necessary at this time…. None of them are scratchy!!!!!! This is a Peavey Classic 50 Tweed head from the mid 90′s. It is an incredible amp. When you turn it up it gets even better. If you throw a Tube Screamer in front of the lead channel… You can get some great 70′s rock tones aka Van Halen, Tom Petty, 38 Special, Journey….. Anything Bluesy or Classic Rock from the 70′s and 80′s is right in the sweet-spot of this great amp head. The Clean channel is very American Fender-like. Perfect for SRV stuff like Riviera Paradise. I do not have the user’s manual. Peavey has it available on their website and you can download it. Original box is not included either. These Peavey Heads are extremely reliable, and durable. The Tweed tolex is in pretty good shape, although it does have a few dings and scratches which I have shown (See Photos). The tubes are still good. The Caps and pots are working fine. The FX loop works good too. I removed a lot of rust from the mirror faceplate and some of the numbers in white around the Black Chicken-head knobs has worn off… And it did leave little rust “bumps” on there as shown (See Photos). The handle is a little worn as you can see in the photos as well. Overall this Peavey Classic 50 is in good shape for an amp 20+ years old. Please look at all of the photos to evaluate it’s overall condition. Here is some more info.
