Vintage Tube Amp

Up for sale here is this single vintage Eico HF-20 tube amplifier, with serial number 7973. This came from a local tube guy, and came to me just as you see it. This is in fantastic condition, and includes all the tubes, the top cage/cover, and the bottom cover/feet as well. The bottom is missing a few screws, but has most of them. This is in really good physical condition, but here are some things to note. Light overall wear, some minor scrapes/scuffs. Knobs are all there and are in nice shape. Very light rust on transformers. Tubes are the ones that I got it with, and are untested. The outputs are a very mismatched pair–one is a 5881 and the other is a Sylvania 6L6GC. Cord is attached and seems fine. Circuitry may or may not be original–I don’t see anything modern, but I don’t know if this was ever updated. I will guarantee the transformers to be good. This is a really rare amp, especially in this condition–don’t miss it! Please see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask. This Fender Bronco Tube Amp is in great shape for its age; this is the same as a Vibro Champ, the only difference is the front metal plate. It is a 1971 manufactured combo amp: The chassis is stamped June 14, 1971. The Speaker is an Oxford, dated the 18th week of 1971 (4657118). The output transformer is dated 6th week of 1971 (606-1-06). The power transformer is dated the 20th week of 1971 (606-1-20). The 2 12AX7 preamp tubes seem to be replacements from original, but the 6V6 output and the 5Y3 rectifier tube appear to be original (in my opinion). The only flaws are some pitting in the metal amp straps and the handle metal end caps. There is also an area where the tolex is separated on the top corner (shown in the last picture). The amp sounds great with an electric guitar, all controls work and it’s quiet when idling. The pots and tube sockets were treated with contact cleaner (spray). The serial number is: A30098. The grille cloth backing is slightly warped; look at the lower right corner of the amp in the first picture. This could probably be fixed by attaching the corner better staples? Since 2 tubes (the 12AX7′s) have been replaced from originals, this is considered to be 99% original. Vintage Grommes Model 40PG Tube Hi Fidelity Amplifier Amp Rare Works. See all 12 pix. Watch Video on YouTube here. This is a working unit. I have gone over it, in and out. Lightly cleaned and dusted. De-oxed all controls and jacks. Pot Controls all work as they should. The power button on front didn’t work. So a switch was installed on the back of unit. Powered up and tested on aux and tuner inputs and it has good audio on both channels. Didn’t notice any hum but if you are planning to use this unit as a daily player you will want to replace all the Electrolytic capacitors. Has a few issues here and there like the fuse holder in the back is partly loose and one of the auxiliary power outlets in back is loose also. That’s about as far as I went on this unit. Fork is in excellent working condition. I believe that Amp Research still offers factory rebuilds on these forks, but youll want to look into that yourself if youre concerned about the forks longevity. Up for sale here is this vintage Altec 353A tube amplifier. This came from a local tube guy, and is in fairly decent shape from the front, but the back has some rust. Here are some things to note. Face and knobs have moderate wear, some light corrosion, should clean up fairly well. Case has moderate wear, some minor corrosion. Knobs are all there and are in fairly nice shape. Light rust on transformers, mostly on sides. Tubes are NOT included, sorry. The 6L6s had mostly been cracked over time, so I tossed them. Cord is attached and seems fine. Circuitry appears to be all original. Rear panel has a lot of rust. I will guarantee the transformers to be good. This is a really rare amp–don’t miss it! Please see my pictures for details.
