VINTAGE SANSUI AU-111 STEREO VALVE AMP / TUBE AMP. INCREDIBLE CONDITION / FULLY INSPECTED BY TECHNICIAN. PHOTOS DO NOT DO JUSTICE. For sale we have an insanely rare and very special Sansui AU-111 Tube Amplifier. Many have said this before…. But this is one amazing amplifier! It is without a doubt the finest amplifier I have ever heard. Anywhere, at any price. I have owned 4 of these Beauties and they never cease to put a smile on my face. This 70 pound black beauty is quite a feat of engineering. It’s impressive weight and construction is equally matched by the impressive looking line of tubes, But the really impressive work is “under the hood”. Sansui felt that a good amplifier should not be bandwidth limited to the audible range, but should extend farther in both extremes, so the amplifier can handle the audible range without any of the artifacts of limited bandwidth amplifiers; such as phase shift at the frequency extremes. This amp sounds just amazing. It produces music with an authority and an ease that is unequaled in the audio world. The amp is extremely dynamic, capable of subtle detail one moment with extreme power on the next beat. Acoustic guitar strings just leap out of the speakers. It is extremely fast, but yet it doesn’t sound too fast. Very hard to describe. The other thing about the Sansui AU-111 that strikes you immediately is that it is somehow harmonically more correct than any other amp. The piano sounds more like a piano, the banjo more like a banjo, etc… There is simply no colouration that I can hear. This takes a bit of getting used to. I can see how some would say it is dry sounding or some such. However, after you live with it a while you realize that the instruments somehow sound more realistic than you have ever heard. It doesn’t editorialize, it just plays what you feed it with great clarity and detail, no harshness, amazing dynamic range, and stunning bass control. These amplifiers are very highly sought after in the used market today and getting one is like panning for gold in a Californian mountain stream. It takes some time and effort, but the end result is a find of pure 24K gold. The AU-111 is a straightforward amplifier. It is similar to a solid-state amp by virtue of the fact that what you feed it is what you get. Theres no tube amp romanticizing; rather, it is analytical and ruthlessly revealing. Vocals are nicely defined with the instruments sharp and clear. Soundstage is both wide and deep. The AU-111 allows you to hear the fluctuations in the vocals to such a degree that it feels you are at a live concert in the comfort of your own home. The condition is fantastic for an amplifier thats over 50 years old. The faceplate is immaculate. The lettering is all present on the amplifier and there are no dents present anywhere. All inputs work as they should, all terminals accept their respective cables and all valves glow in harmony. The only issue is that the small phase switch on the rear has broke but it can still be switched if desired. The speaker terminals have also been upgraded as the old ones are terrible and always fail to hold the speaker cable in place. This unit is Multivoltage and currently set to 240v. Really, you have to hear one of these. Even if you don’t keep it, just the chance to live with it for a while is an experience not to be missed for anyone who is into this crazy hobby. Please note that I have included high resolution photos and it appears there are blemishes on the unit. This is infact dust. I can confirm the unit is in pretty much 10/10 condition as is the faceplate. Usually the faceplate anodizes on these and turns a copper colour but this is still a nice rich black. She is literally ready to plug, play and enjoy. Power output: 40 watts per channel into 8 (stereo). Frequency response: 20Hz to 50kHz. Total harmonic distortion: 0.8%. VINTAGE SANSUI AU-111 VACUUM TUBE AMPLIFIER. For sale we have a stunning and unfathomably rare Sansui AU-111 Valve Amp. The AU-111 is Sansui’s master piece in tube technology. The output stage consists of fixed bias 6L6-GC AB1 Push-Pull via Sansui’s own SW-50 output transformers with cathode feedback design. As being Sansui’s tube gear tradition, this amplifier was designed to strive for the maximum capability of 6L6-GCs with 485V plate voltage yielding 40W + 40W RMS Stereo Power with less than 0.8% THD. The control amp section consists of the cathode follower first stage followed by three amplification stages to manage sophisticated tone controls, Low/high filters, loudness and presence switches although the tone control circuit can be totally bypassed by the tone defeat switches. The phono equalizer stage adopted the solid-state circuit to improve S/N in the low level input. The AU-111 was initially introduced in 1965, and was on the market at least until 1971. AU-111 started Sansui’s black front panel tradition that was continued more than two decades well into 1990′s. AU-111 also contributed to establish Sansui’s reputation as one of the best audiophile manufacturers in the world. About the end of tube technology era, AU-777. Was introduced as Sansui’s first solid state integrated amplifier in 1967 followed by AU-222 and AU-555 although AU-111 was still going strong even into the early 1970′s. It was very ironic that at the very end of Sansui’s high-end audiophile history, Sansui reintroduced AU-111 as AU-111 Vintage. In 1999 followed by AU-111G whose control section was redesigned to be suitable for SACD and DVD-Audio applications. Ichiro Ohshima who was the high-end product manager at Sansui since 1986 to 2000 mentioned that he used to enjoy AU-111 and JBL speakers combination when he started working for Sansui. About at that time, he was wishing to create amplifiers sounding like AU-111 in his career. During the rough time Sansui went through from the late 1980′s to 1990′s, Mr. Ohshima was the one who struggled to maintaine the Sansui’s high-end amp tradition. Many of his master pieces, from AU-X111 MOS Vintage. Indeed sound similar to AU-111. It was not a coincident at all that who was responsible to revive AU-111 in 1999 was Mr. This amp here, is in stunning condition. You would be hard pressed to find any faults with it, the cabinet is in stunning condition, inside is clean, all knobs work perfectly, it has been fully serviced and re-capped and is ready to be enjoyed. Mittlerweile haben sich zuviele geräte angesammelt und ich muß mich von einigen trennen , da nachwuchs unterwegs ist und das musik zimmer dem kinderzimmer weichen muß. Deshalb kommen diese extrem seltenen Sansui Röhrenvorverstärker zum verkauf. Der Sansui P330 ist ein Mono Röhrenvorverstärker mit einem mittelwellen radio ohne eigene stromversorgung , die über die endstufen eingespeist wird. Das mw radio wurde demontiert (drehko) und es wurde ein Trafo eingebaut. Nun kann man die vorverstärker auch für jede andere endstufe nutzen. Sie sind nun auf 220 volt eingestellt können aber auch auf 110volt umgestellt werden. Das magische auge , wurde durch eine rote glimmlampe ersetzt. Eine cinchbuchse für ein tuner eingang wurde an der rückseite angebracht. Wenn man nun den wählschalter auf tuner stellt wo vorher das mw radio anging , wird nun die cinchbuchse aktiviert wo man einen tuner anschließen kann. Der MW-TUNNIG Knopf wurde zu einem dimmer umfunktioniert für die skalenbeleuchtung. Die plexiskala wurde ausgetauscht gegen eine neutrale mit sansui high fidelity beschriftung. Die vorverstärker haben eine ganz besondere klangregelung mit einer stufenlos einstellbaren loudness. Auch die schaltung ist anders als bei den meisten röhrenvorverstärkern. Das letzte foto zeigt den Vorverstärker vor dem umbau. Bis ich die 2 geräte endlich zusammen hatte sind einige jahre vergangen , da sie fast nie im angebot sind , und wenn dann einzeln. Hier haben sie die gelegenheit , 2 komplett restaurierte ganz feine frühe Sansui mono Röhrenvorverstärker zu bekommen , die technisch vom feinsten restauriert sind.
