Vintage Tube Amp

These amps are in a rare excellent condition. Both were sent to a local repair shop for a complete service and restoration with new parts. Please see pictures for details. I do have the old parts, but unable to find it at the moment. If I do find them, I will include them if needed. These amps are in perfect working order producing wonderful powerful tube sound of 70 watts per unit. Here is the specification on this LA-70. These were built in 1958/59. These amplifiers are sturdily constructed with a heavy steel chassis and steel ventilated chassis cover. The LA-70 includes a single RCA input and 4, 8, and 16 ohm outputs as well as controls for bias level, bias balance and damping. Also included is a built-in meter with A-B switch for maintaining bias adjustment. The amplifier utilizes two KT88 or 6550 power output tubes, one 6AN8A preamp/phase inverter/driver tube, and one GZ34/5AR4 rectifier tube. Weight is approximately 35 lbs. Up for sale, a 1962 Magnatone Giulietti S-9 vintage tube amplifier in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. Complete with the original footswitch, the S-9 is virtually identical to the 260 model, with a 2×12 speaker configuration and lush pitch shifting vibrato. Produced in the Magna Electrics era (pre-Estey), this Magnatone features two channels with individual Volume and EQ controls as well as a bright switch. Driven by a pair of Wing C Svetlana 6L6 power tubes, the amp has a rich, lush sound capable of delivering both articulate cleans and overdriven roar. Of course at the heart of any Magnatone is their varistor-based true pitch shifting vibrato circuit, which is thick and watery, with a Leslie-esque swirl and unequalled. As a top of the line Magnatone amplifier, the Giulietti S-9 has a complex true point-to-point hand wired circuit which has been recently serviced to sound its best, balancing originality and functionality. The circuit retains all of the original blue Ajax molded caps in the preamp and CTS pots that date to the 32nd week of 1962. All of the original Schumacher transformers are intact including a power transformer that dates to the 47th week of 1961 and an output transformer that dates to the 22nd week of 1962. The power tubes are a pair of Wing C Svetlana 6L6s which are properly biased and have plenty of life. The amp retains its original speakers, which are a pair of Oxford 12K5s that date to the 32nd week of 1962. The original black speckled covering is extremely clean with only a few small scuffs and light wear on the bottom corners of the cabinet, and the faceplate is remarkably well kept as well with vibrant silkscreened graphics and all of the original knobs. I took it to my Tube/Amp Guru, Doug McCalister, and he went through the entire unit. We needed to replace the 12AX7s so I bought a matched set of Tube Amp Doctor tubes. If you have the means and motivation, a set of original West German Telefunkens would make this lady sing even better than she does now! All other tubes and capacitors worked well! Very minimal work was necessary to get this lady singing again. Doug ran it for many hours to make sure everything was dialed in. Everything is balanced and sounds absolutely SUPER WARM and lovely! Replaced the original plastic feet with MUCH larger rubber feet, much better to protect the amp and whatever it is sitting on (see photos). This is the LOWEST PRICED H.
