Up for sale, a 1964 Supro Thunderbolt with rare two-tone blonde and black tolex and a complete original RCA tube set. An Airline-branded variant, this amp is otherwise identical to its Supro-branded brother. This legendary tube amp was made in the USA by Valco, and is generally considered to be Jimmy Page’s amp of choice for crafting many of guitar sounds on early Led Zeppelin records. Lightly compressed, focused, and balanced, the Thunderbolt pushes roughly 35 watts through a pair of 6L6 power tubes and a Jensen C15N speaker. For everything from clean, wooly rhythm tones to saturated tube overdrive further up on the volume dial, the Thunderbolt delivers a pure sound with a simple yet ingenious circuit and only two knobs for Volume and Tone. The circuit is extremely original, and both transformers are stock, with original CTS pots that date to’64. Notable for being an early example of the Thunderbolt with a rectifier tube and sweet, tube driven “sag”, the amp boasts an original RCA 5U4 in the rectifier position, along with a pair of RCA-branded 6L6GC gray plate power tubes that are properly biased. The chassis has consistent light surface rust, yet all of the original black silkscreen text is intact, along with the stock pair of knobs. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen 15 C15N speaker, and this ceramic magnet speaker has an extremely clean gray frame and original foil label on the magnet. The cabinet retains its original two-tone tolex and salt and pepper grillcloth, with modest wear on the top of the enclosure and a few requisite scuffs and snags on the tolex as a whole. This is essentially a Magnatone 107 badged as Orpheus model 707 I believe. Compact little tube amp w/ 8 speaker that appears to be all original down to the black plate RCAs. Looks cool as hell, and sounds even better (think Supro, Princeton, etc)! Condition is really solid for how old this is and Im surprised the chintzy badge is left at all they usually arent! The O in Orpheus has broken – see pics. Tolex is super clean and see all photos for any of the bumps and bruises on the edges. Ultra rare and incredible sounding Supro Supreme 1600R. Currently being reissued, but this is the real deal original vintage model. This particular model has the optional reverb output which went to a matching external model 600 Reverb-Only amp which we happen to have in another listing. The amp by itself has a killer, classic Supro/Valco tone and this model is rumored to be featured on some early Rolling Stones recordings. This amp is in great shape with minimal wear. It is missing the indicator light cover and the original Supro plastic logo, but both should be easy to find a replacement. Will be packed well and insured. Up for sale is this vintage Gretsch 6159 tube amp. The amp was made in 1965 by Valco. It is all original with 2 Jensen 12 speakers (both dating to 1965) and it still has the 2 prong power cable. Don’t let the “bass amp” logo fool you. These amps were made with the intention of them being used for bass, guitar, and/or accordion. I have been using the amp for guitar and it sounds amazing! It currently has Groove tube power tubes and all of the other tubes are RCA. It has an incredible tremolo that I would compare to that of a Magnatone. I prefer this tremolo over any other new or vintage Fender amp I’ve tried. The tremolo is very smooth with nice depth to it. Overall, the amp is in very good condition, especially considering it is over 50 years old. There are some marks in the tolex, a few stains and small snags in the grill cloth, and some oxidation on the chrome parts. It is rare to find one of these in all original condition and in this good of shape. Most of the examples I’ve come across have 1 or both grill cloth badges broken and have undergone modifications. Rich, powerful, and nuanced, the H420 pushes 35 watts through a pair of original RCA 6L6GC power tubes and the original Jensen C15N speaker. For everything from clean, wooly rhythm tones to saturated tube overdrive further up on the volume dial, this Harmony delivers a pure sound with a simple yet ingenious circuit. Check out this beautifully preserved old Supro! The power-cord is hilariously under-built, which perfectly demonstrates this items original 60′s mystique. The amp works beautifully and the tremolo knob together with the dual glass vacuum tubes produce a classic analog sound that is hard to find today. Unfortunately two plastic knob covers are missing, but this is a simple fix to the right enthusiast. As you can see from the pictures, there is very little damage to the wood and cloth covering the wood. The front speaker mesh is also very weather-free. Please make an offer!
