Vintage Sherwood S5000II 80 watt stereo tube power amplifier 7868 power tubes.. Works needs new tubes power tubes Sherwood label and weak. Six pre amp tubes are a mix of tubes should be 12AX7 tubes but there a mix of 12au7 , 12at7, and 12ax7 will need to be replaced. Cap are original and need to be replaced. Little bit of rust on copper plated chassis and transformers. Overall needs a good cleaning , retubed , and new caps , but for age it works. Has a few scuffs and scrapes on top and all around.. Missing small cover that covers pre amp tubes.. But has tube shields for front 4 tubes. You are looking at a Vintage 1966 Ampeg Gemini II 30 Watt 1×15 All Tube Combo Amp. If you are into that 1960′s trashy rock sound, (Stones, Kinks) you’ll love this amp. In production from 1965 to 1968. Originally designed as an Accordion Amp. (What were they thinking). Though the Gemini II was intended for jazz (like the majority of the Ampegs of its day), this one somehow slipped past the Gatekeeper of Clean, head honcho Everett Hull. Theres something grimy, rich, and raw going on when you crank it up, and that opens a world of sonic possibilities beyond the archetypal smooth. To be fair, itll do smooth if you keep it down to 9 or 10 oclock on the dial, lulling you back into that mid-60s vibe. But, fast-forward nearly 50 years and these things make great avenues to original tones in the arenas of alternative, indie, blues-rock, Americana, and roots-rock. Get it cooking, and it also lets the listener know youre plugged into something other than the usual Vox, Marshall, or Fender-derived amp design. Of your blackface Super Reverb, JMI AC30, or JTM45 Bluesbreaker combo! Our Amp Tech serviced this amp. He cleaned all pots, jacks and tube sockets. Replaced one open plate resistor and a couple of caps. Added a 3-prong grounded ac cord. Everything functions and works great! You won’t spend any additional monies on this amp. Gig Ready on Arrival! Rivaled as THE amp with cleaner cleans than any Fender amp. These beastly amps were the predecessor to Randall amps. More headroom than you’ll ever need! The amp features two separate channels, each with its own 3-band controls knobs and individual bright switches. One reverb control for both channels, and tremolo controls for second channel. I don’t have the foot switch, so I can’t tell if the tremolo works, but I have no reason to believe it doesn’t, which is why I’m pricing this amp so low. This amp is a true vintage amp built in the late 70′s, so it will have some wear, but is actually in great shape considering. All control knobs work well, though some have a little scratchiness in them from the age and is not a difficult fix. Price is firm, but will entertain offers.
