Vintage McIntosh MC-240 Tube Stereo Amplifier – Great Working Condition. 6 New Pre-Amp Tubes Installed, Controls and Switches Cleaned. Comes with Black Steel Mesh Cover – Missing End Caps and Clips. Power Output: Stereo or twin amplifier – 40 watts continuous per channel. Monophonic – 80 watts continuous. Harmonic Distortion: Less than 0.5% at rated output or less, 20 cycles through 20,000 cycles. Typical performance is 0.3% or less at 20 cycles and 20,000 cycles at full power. Typical performance in the mid frequencies is 0.1% or less at full power. Intermodulation Distortion: Less than 0.5% for any combination of frequencies from 20 cycles through 20,000 cycles if instantaneous peak power is below twice the rated power. Phase Shift: Less than +6 degrees 20 cycles through 20,000 cycles. Frequency Range: At rated output: +0, -0.1 db 16 cycles through 40,000 cycles. +0, -0.5 db 16 cycles through 60,000 cycles. At one half rated output: +0, -1 db 10 cycles through 100,000 cycles. Noise and Hum: 90 db or more below rated output. Stereo or Twin Amp. (Isolated from ground) 4 ohms, 8 ohms, 16 ohms. The power transformer is tapped for 117 volts and 125 volts. Voltage amplifier – One 12AX7 (drives both amps). Phase Inverter – Two 12AU7. Drive Amplifier – Two 12BH7. The MC240 has on one chassis two 40 watt power amplifiers. In addition to use as a stereo amplifier, the flexibility of the MC240 permits it to be used as a monophonic amplifier that delivers 80 watts, or as two separate 40 watt amplifiers with each channel amplifying completely separate programs, or as two amplifiers for use with an electronic crossover network. Nice & Clean McIntosh MC240 Stereo Tube Power Amplifier. Works as it should. Looks and sounds great. All controls have been cleaned. The troublesome Selenium rectifier & circuit has been replaced with a stable modern equivalent. The thermistor and 2 other electrolytic capacitors have also been replaced. As far as I can tell everything else is all original. The 12AX7 and 12AU7 preamp tubes are Telefunken. The output tubes are Blackplate RCA 6L6′s 2 of which are badged McIntosh. The potentiometers date to 1965. Nice clean solid working unit. Includes all tubes shown.
