1963 Fender Bassman 6G6B Blonde Brown Panel Vintage Piggyback Tube Amp, Oxfords

Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Bassman in excellent condition and in perfect working order, featuring the original matched pair of Oxford 12M6 speakers. An early iteration of the “Piggyback” Bassman with rough blonde tolex and wheat grillcloth, this Brown Panel-era Fender drives two Sovtek 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes for 40 powerful watts of pure tube goodness. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brown Panel circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge sweep, and after around 5 on the Volume dial the amp cascades into rich tube overdrive that compresses noticeably and is particularly roaring and thick. It’s the kind of natural tube saturation that only comes from pushing a well-designed Fender circuit to its limit. A Pre-CBS Fender Blonde Bassman was used on more Beatles recording sessions than the Vox AC30, was a particular favorite of Pete Townshend, and has become the amp forever linked with Brian Setzer’s classic Rockabilly tones. It’s hard to beat this particular Bassman circuit for a tone that bridges the gap between the dynamic grit of the Tweed circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Black Panel line. The circuit is very original and has been well-maintained and recently serviced with fresh F&T filter caps. A few new smaller electrolytics in the preamp, and a modern three-prong power cable. All of the famed blue molded Ajax capacitors are intact in the preamp, an essential part of the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Brown Panel circuits. With stock Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and cloth-covered leads. All of the Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes that span late 1962 and early’63. The tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet. The tube complement includes a pair of Sovtek power tubes that have been properly biased, and the preamp tubes consist of a combination of vintage and modern valves. The cabinet retains the original matched pair of Oxford 12M6 speakers, with date stamps on the edges of the frames from the 43rd week of’63. Both speakers also boast professional recones, ensuring a particularly clear sound with refined, tight bass response. The cabinet is missing its internal central divider, of virtually no sonic consequence. Both the head and cabinet retain their original rough blonde tolex and wheat grillcloth. The tolex exhibits some various marks commensurate with age, with a couple spots of light staining where sap in the knots of the pine cabinet has made its way through the tolex. Both flat Fender logos on the head and cab are original, and the clean faceplate retains its full set of cream barrel knobs. The hardware includes the original piggyback clip bars, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and tilt-back legs, with a new pair of leg stops. The dogbone handle on the head is original, and the one on the cab is a modern Fender replacement. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1965 Fender Bassman Black Panel Piggyback Vintage Tube Amp Head & 2x12 Cab AA165

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Black Panel Fender amp is very original, and the grillcloth on the head and cabinet is among the nicest we’ve seen. For clarity, warmth, and headroom, this Bassman excels at delivering sweet and articulate Fender clean tones. Once you reach about 5 on the volume dial, the circuit starts to overdrive smoothly and compress a bit, for a raw, thick sound that’s perfect for guitar or bass. It’s a simple and pure vintage Fender “piggyback” head and cab setup that provides a perfect platform for effect pedals and is ready for stage and studio use. Arguably the circuit available for the briefest period of time in the Black Panel era, the AA165 circuit designation is seen on many tube charts (Leo Fender was never one to waste anything), but under the hood, the actual AA165 circuit was only seen for a number of months in’65 before transitioning to the AB165 that would be seen through 1968. This amp is one of few to retain the original AA165 guts. The circuit retains all of the original transformers which date to early 1965 along with the CTS pots and chassis stamp. Both the preamp and power amp have been thoroughly maintained, with new Sprague Atom main filter caps and smaller Mallory caps in the preamp to ensure that the amp is operating within original factory spec. The amp features a modern three-prong power cable as well. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with an “OG” date stamp which translates to July of 1965. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of vintage Utah 12 speakers. These speakers are detailed, clear, and quite punchy, overdriving with very rich and balanced overtones. Tested against vintage pairs of Oxfords and Jensens, these Utahs were a surprise favorite, and the original black frames are quite clean, retaining the blue foil Fender labels on the magnets. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and raised Fender logos. The original faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of patina on the hardware, and some expected scuffs and minor wear around the edges of the enclosures, but as the photos show, this Bassman presents very well and would look great in a studio collection. This Bassman is clean, complete, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1964 Fender Bassman Black Panel Piggyback Vintage Tube Amp Pre-CBS AA864 Circuit

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 speaker cab, recently serviced and very original. This vintage Pre-CBS “Black Panel” Fender amp features the AA864 circuit, the earliest and most coveted circuit used throughout this era of production. It’s a simple and pure vintage Fender “piggyback” head and cab setup that provides a perfect platform for effects pedals, and is ready for stage and studio use. It’s worth noting that with Black Panel Bassmans, three distinct circuits were used, and more often than not the circuit noted on the tube chart isn’t the same as what’s “under the hood, ” yet with this particular Bassman it does indeed come as advertised and is a true AA864 model. All of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors in the preamp are intact, and these caps are an essential part of the sweet and musical sound of the Black Panel amps. Both the main filter caps and smaller bypass caps have been replaced with high quality Spragues to keep the amp operating within original factory spec. The stock CTS pots date to between late 1963 and early’64, and the stock Schumacher transformers at the heart of the amp also date to 1964. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present. The tubes consist of a pair of properly biased Sovtek 5881 (6L6) power tubes, along with a host of modern preamp tubes from Electro Harmonix. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of era-correct ceramic magnet Oxford 12T6 12 drivers, and these speakers have both recently been professionally reconed and feature bronze frames. Oxfords provide a very balanced and warm tone for Black Panel Fenders, and this pair keeps the bass response rich and dynamic, offering a sound both tight and warm with sparkling trebles. Cosmetically, this Bassman retains the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth on both the head and speaker cabinet. The grillcloth has darkened significantly on the head and cab, and all of the original hardware is present including Pat. Pending tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and the stock pair of raised Fender logos. The faceplate is complete with original witch hat knobs and retains the Fender Electric Instrument Co. Text indicative of a Pre-CBS Fender amp. This Bassman is complete, recently retubed, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1964 Fender Tremolux Vintage Pre-CBS Blackface Piggyback Tube Amp, Blonde

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Tremolux in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The very first Blackface-era iteration of the Tremolux with its “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate, smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, this visually stunning amp offers a broad range of sparkling cleans and rich overdrive textures. Extremely original with the stock pair of Oxford speakers, the tone is stunning and quintessential Blackface Fender, with the perfect amount of clean headroom before the amp cascades into slightly compressed tube overdrive around 5 on the volume dial. The vibrato has a strong pulse, and each channel has a similar voicing, although the Normal channel has just a touch more low end and midrange punch. The preamp is extremely original, retaining all of the blue molded Ajax caps which are essential to the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface-era circuits. The transformers (manufactured by Schumacher, Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the’60s) include the original power transformer and choke which both date to 1963, while the output transformer is a genuine Tremolux transformer which was substituted at some point in the amp’s life and dates to early 1965. It’s entirely possible that this is an early, factory-installed transformer. The CTS pots are all intact, with visible date codes from the 7th week of’64. The power supply features a full compliment of vintage Sprague Atoms, and the power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong variety. The power tubes are a matched pair of Sovtek 5881s (6L6s), and the preamp tubes and 5AR4 rectifier are all vintage valves from the likes of Amperex and RCA. The tube chart is intact with only light wear and a clean “NE” date stamp, which translates to May of 1964. The speaker cab boasts the original pair of Oxford 10K5 ceramic magnet speakers. These speakers have clean black frames and have both been professionally reconed, with matching date stamps from the 5th week of 1964. All of the original fiberglass baffling is intact inside the cabinet too. The amp has its original smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, a cosmetic combination only available for a few short months at the end of 1963 leading into the first half of’64. The tolex shows only very minor scuffing and edge wear, and the grillcloth has plenty of sparkle left in the thread. Both original raised Fender logos are intact, and the faceplate is very well-kept, retaining its full compliment of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is accounted for including handle caps, nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), and piggyback clipbars and threaded cabinet inserts. A modern one-button footswitch is included to engage the tremolo, along with a reproduction Fender speaker cable. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! You are looking at a Fender Bandmaster Head and cabinet from 1962. Not even caps have been changed to my knowledge. When we opened the cabinet to take pictures it was clear that we were the first to do so. WE didn’t open up the head, but, based on conversations with the previous owner we felt it better to not do so. His back story would confirm that it has never been worked on. It is also safe to say that it hasn’t been played much in the last couple of decades. We did though, and, it sounds beautiful. All original from 1962, original Jensen speakers. Check out the video. A picture can speak 1,000 words. Everything in the photos and description is what you will receive. And nobody wants that. If you have a resale. Please let us know prior to paying. We mostly use the US Postal Service, We also use UPS. Not all Countries are included. UPS does not deliver to P. Tracking numbers are immediately sent to you the moment the label is printed. 1965 Fender Showman Blackface Piggyback Vintage Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Showman in excellent condition, complete with the matching 1×15 “Tone Ring” piggyback speaker cabinet and original JBL D130F speaker. The amp boasts a full compliment of modern valves, including a quad of properly biased Ruby 6L6s, and this Showman has a sound that is powerful, clear, and sparkling. As Fender’s flagship amp boasting a whopping 85 watts of all tube power, the Showman is a real powerhouse for guitar, bass, or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. The low end is ample and thick, and the amp has plenty of headroom and efficient clean power until about 6-7 on the Volume knob where things start to compress and overdrive. Fresh back from our techs and ready for another half century, this Showman is dialed in for stage and studio use. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D130F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so impressive! The speaker cabinet retains all of its original fiberglass sound dampening sheets and the D130F sounds incredible with a professional recone. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced and is very original, with a virtually untouched preamp save for a few small electrolytics. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are intact with a sweet, musical tone that’s a hallmark of the Blackface sound. The original power transformer is intact, dating to the 18th week of’65, while the output transformer and choke are genuine vintage Fender transformers substituted later in the amp’s life and dating to 1970. Other important date codes include the CTS pots, with visible date codes from the 12th week of’65. The power supply has also been professionally recapped, and the tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet too, with an “OE” date stamp that translates to May of 1965. This amp sports the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the hardware is intact (with the exception of new back panel screws on the cabinet), including chrome tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars, handles, corners and raised metal Fender logos on both the head and speaker cabinet. The amp shows some nicks and scuffs around the edges of the enclosure, and the grill on the head and cabinet has aged uniformly. The original one-button footswitch to engage the Tremolo is included. Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Bassman in excellent condition and in perfect working order, featuring a complete vintage tube set and matched pair of Oxford 12M6 speakers. An early iteration of the “Piggyback” Bassman with rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth, this Brownface-era Fender drives two vintage Tung Sol 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes for 40 powerful watts of pure tube goodness. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge range and after around 5 on the Volume dial the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive that compresses noticeably and is particularly roaring and thick. It’s hard to beat this particular Bassman circuit for a tone that bridges the gap between the dynamic grit of the Tweed circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Blackface line. The circuit is very original and has been well-maintained and recently serviced with fresh F&T filter caps. A few new smaller electrolytics in the preamp, and a modern three-prong power cable. All of the famed blue molded Ajax capacitors are intact in the preamp, an essential part of the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Brownface circuits. With stock Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and cloth wire. All of the Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes that span late 1962 and early’63. The tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet, with an MC date stamp which translates to March of 1963. The tube compliment includes a pair of vintage Tung So power tubes that have been properly biased, and the preamp tubes are a matched set of vintage RCAs. The cabinet retains a matched pair of Oxford 12M6 speakers, an optimal and original pairing for the 6G6B Bassman circuit, with date stamps on the edges of the frames from the 42nd week of’62. Both speakers also boast professional and recent recones, ensuring a particularly clear sound with refined, tight bass response. Both the head and cabinet retain their original rough blonde tolex, and both have just been freshly regrilled with correct oxblood grillcloth. The tolex exhibits some various marks commensurate with age, with one small patch of replaced tolex on the back panel of the speaker cab. Both flat Fender logos on the head and cab are original, and the clean faceplate retains its full compliment of cream barrel knobs. The hardware includes the original piggyback clip bars, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and tilt-back legs, with a new pair of Fender piggyback thumbscrews. Exceedingly rare outside Japan and manufactured by Miyuki Ind. , this Echo amp was designed to capitalize on the success of Fender’s larger Blackface era amplifiers, yet has a sound all its own and actually more akin to a Music Man, with a EL34-based power section. Fully serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this Twin-Amp 45 features 45 watts of all tube power, a closed back cabinet design with original pair of alnico 12 drivers, and built-in Tremolo and spring Reverb. The Reverb has a lush, splashy character, and the Tremolo controls have a wide sweep and particularly deep chop when required. Channel Two has a bit more power and punch, with a fat low end, a wooly low midrange character, and smooth treble. The tag board circuit has been thoroughly recapped with brand new Sprague Orange Drop capacitors, and the original power and output transformers are intact, while the reverb driver is a replacement. The chassis itself is quite clean, and the black silkscreened faceplate has its full compliment of original large barrel knobs. Remarkably, the complete matching set of original Matsushita tubes is also intact. Inside the cabinet, the original stock 12 speakers are present with clean frames and viable original cones. Taking its cues from its Fender contemporary, this Twin-Amp 45 features smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth that has aged over the decades.
