1962 Fender Vibrolux Vintage Tube Amp Brownface Pre-CBS 1x12 Combo, 6G11 Circuit

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Vibrolux in excellent condition and in good working order. This rare 1×12 “Brownface” version of the Vibrolux is a bridge between the Tweed and Blackface models in both specs and tone, with a glassy, touch sensitive quality, robust cleans, and rich overdrive characteristics when you dime it out. Pushing 35 all tube watts through a vintage Oxford alnico 12L5N speaker, there’s plenty to love about the versatility and tone offered by this Fender. The amp has plenty of clean headroom and the sweet sag of a tube rectifier, and when pushed above 5 on the volume dial, things start to compress slightly and cascade into sweet overdrive with just enough bite. The bias-based tremolo circuit also has a very strong, thumping pulse that’s notably deeper than later Fender circuits, with a wide range of speeds. The circuit is freshly serviced and largely original, retaining the original Schumacher output transformer and choke which both date to early-1962. The power transformer is a properly spec’d replacement for this amp courtesy of Mercury Magnetic’s Tone Clone series. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp and an integral part of the sweetness and clarity of the circuit. All of the stock pots are intact as well (dating to late’61) with largely original solder joints and cloth covered wire. The power supply has been recapped with high quality Sprague Atoms, along with new bias and bypass caps in the preamp. The amp has also been fitted with a modern three-prong power cable. The power tubes are a matched pair of Groove Tubes 6L6-GE small bottle valves, with matching Groove Tubes in the preamp and an Amperex “bugle boy” rectifier. The Oxford speaker is original, dating to the 4th week of’62 and sporting a very clean frame and original cone. The stock speaker harness is intact as well, and inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is intact with an LG date stamp, translating to July of 1962. Cosmetically, this amp would look great in a studio, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The leather handle is a modern replacement, and the enclosure shows only some requisite minor marks and scuffs, with light wear through the tolex on the bottom corners of the cabinet. The faceplate retains all of the original brown barrel knobs. This Vibrolux is a rare, thoroughly serviced, and largely original vintage Pre-CBS Fender amp that’s ready for stage and studio use. 1962 Fender Tremolux Brownface Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Head, Blonde & Oxblood

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Tremolux head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The amp boasts the sweetness, tonal range, and harmonic clarity that characterizes Fender’s Pre-CBS era Brownface amps, and the circuit is powered by a pair of vintage General Electric 6L6 power tubes. The tone is pure, dynamic Fender clean sparkle until around 4 on the Volume dial where the amp begins to get just a touch of overdrive on the notes before cascading into full tube saturation when you dime it out. The bias-based tremolo circuit has an incredibly deep pulse and the EQ controls have a positively huge sweep. The circuit is extremely original, with all of the stock blue molded Ajax tone caps in the preamp, as well as the stock pots and original carbon comp resistors. All of the original transformers are intact, with a Triad power transformer and Schumacher output transformer which dates to the 22nd week of’62. The power supply has been professionally recapped with new Sprague Atom caps, and the preamp is virtually untouched save for one capacitor which was replaced with a cap of similar vintage. The chassis itself is very clean and the original brown faceplate is intact, complete with a set of original cream barrel knobs. The head sports its original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. The tolex is quite clean, with a couple small cigarette burns on top and spots on the side where the sap from the knots in the original pine has caused some staining through the tolex. There is one spot of wear on the edge of the tolex north of Input 1 on the Bright Channel, and some wear on the silkscreened faceplate adjacent to the Volume knob on that channel as well. The original “dogbone” molded plastic handle is intact, along with the original nickel corners and flat Fender logo on the amp’s face. The piggyback clip bars and sphinx glides (feet) are modern genuine Fender parts. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1961 Fender Bandmaster Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Blonde with 1x12 Tone Ring Cab

Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Bandmaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Extremely original and complete right down to the matched pair of original “dogbone” handles and even the stock speaker cable, this is the very first iteration of the “Piggyback” Bandmaster with a head/cab configuration, decked out in original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. What makes this exceedingly early Brownface Bandmaster stand out from the pack is the Tone Ring 1×12 speaker cabinet, loaded with a vintage Oxford 12L6 alnico magnet speaker. An elegant and ingenious idea (yet not cost effective for Fender), the Tone Ring design was dropped in mid-1961. This Brownface circuit drives two matched vintage Sylvania small bottle 6L6 power tubes for 40 powerful watts of pure tube goodness. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits are very dynamic and responsive, delivering Fender’s hi-fi glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a positively huge sweep, from thick and mellow to biting, twangy snap. After around 5 on the volume dial, the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive that compresses a bit and feels slightly loose and gritty in just the right way without losing too much clarity. It’s the kind of natural tube overdrive that only comes from pushing a well-designed Fender circuit. The Harmonic Vibrato circuit is also a complex design only found on the top tier Brownface models, utilizing three tubes and creating a lush pitch shifting effect that has more in common with a Leslie or Chorus than a traditional tremolo. As previously noted, one very unique and desirable feature of this Bandmaster is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This 1×12 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone via the Oxford speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This design makes the cabinet work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response, and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. The circuit is very original and has been well-maintained and recently serviced. The full compliment of original Schumacher-made transformers (Fender’s largest transformer supplier in th era) are intact, with date codes spanning the 25th-43rd weeks of’61. The preamp is virtually untouched, with all of the famed yellow Astron and blue Ajax tone caps intact, along with all of the original CTS pots which date to the 34th week of’61, carbon comp resistors, and cloth-covered wire. The filter caps and smaller bypass caps have been upgraded with modern components to ensure optimal performance. The tube compliment includes a pair of matched small bottle vintage Sylvania 6L6 power tubes, and the preamp tubes are a combination of modern and vintage valves. Cosmetically, this is an excellent and well-kept example of one of Fender’s rarest Pre-CBS designs, with clean and original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. Both the head and cab feature original unbroken brown “dogbone” molded Fender handles too, a true rarity. The Tone Ring cab retains its original baffles, ring, and fiberglass insulation sheets, and the back panel has the distinctive vertical slats only seen on Tone Ring cabs. The faceplate and backplate are in great shape, and all of the original cream barrel knobs are present. Both flat Fender logos are original on the head and cab and all additional stock hardware is present too, with tilt-back chrome legs, leg stops, sphinx glides (feet), nickel corners, and piggyback clip bars. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Deluxe tube amplifier in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured in the beginning of the brief Brownface era, this amp has a very original 6G3 circuit, only serviced as needed for optimal performance. Providing a perfect middle ground between the warmth and dynamic range of the Tweed amps that preceded it and the clarity and chime of the Blackface amps that would be introduced a couple years later, this Deluxe offers everything from rich and mellow tonalities to twangy and crystalline bite at the turn of a knob. The bias based tremolo circuit is deep and throbbing, with a very smooth waveform and a tone that has an almost three-dimensional quality. It’s truly one of the best examples of this classic Fender effect! The circuit features the original Schumacher output transformer which dates back to the 49th week of 1960, while the power transformer is a USA-made boutique Mercury Tone Clone drop in transformer, faithfully replicating the original. The chassis itself is remarkably clean with limited oxidation and general wear. The Stackpole pots are all intact and the preamp features the full compliment of original blue molded Ajax tone caps. The original bypass caps in the preamp and larger filter caps have been replaced with modern Spragues, and the new caps have been neatly sleeved in their original Astron brown wrappers. The tube compliment includes a vintage pair of matched General Electric 6V6 power tubes, with an Amperex 5AR4 rectifier and a combination of vintage and modern valves in the preamp. The stock Oxford 12K5 speaker is intact with a minty frame and date code from the 4th week of 1962, also retaining the exceedingly rare brown metal bell cover for the magnet and Fender foil sticker. The speaker has also just been professionally reconed. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is fully intact too, with an “LE” date stamp that translates to May of 1962. Cosmetically, this amp is remarkably clean, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The original chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact, and the faceplate is positively gleaming, retaining its full compliment of brown barrel knobs. 1964 Fender Vibroverb Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL 130A, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Vibroverb in excellent condition, recently serviced and loaded with a vintage JBL 130A speaker. A very original and clean example of Fender’s rarest and most desirable Blackface amp, the Vibroverb was only made in the Pre-CBS Fender era, lasting from late 1963 through’64. Best known for its association with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb delivers 40 all-tube watts with a dual channel design and tube rectifier. The amp is loaded with a pair of vintage JAN/Phillips 6L6 power tubes, and the JBL speaker has been professionally reconed. The tone is clear and powerful, with dynamic Fender cleans that sparkle and twang. The highly efficient JBL speaker keeps the signal and tight, with very little speaker cone distortion even at high volumes, letting the light compression and velvety tube overdrive of the circuit be heard with stunning clarity when you push the amp near 10 on the volume dial. The Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension with a long decay, and the Vibrato (technically tremolo) has a strong, smooth pulse. The circuit is extremely clean and stock, with all of the original Schumacher-made transformers dating between the 7th and 27th weeks of 1964. All of the original CTS pots are intact as well, dating to early’64. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced too. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. In addition to the pair of properly biased USA-made JAN/Phillips 6L6GC power tubes, the amp is loaded with a Sylvania GZ34 rectifier and a host of new and vintage tubes in the preamp as well, all of which function as intended. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “NJ” date stamp for October of 1964. The vintage JBL 130A speaker has a professional recone and proper aluminum dust cap, and this speaker is a particularly early JBL, predating the D130F. The speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, with some light edge wear and a few small spots of missing tolex on the bottom edges of the cabinet. The original hardware is all intact, with some scuffing on the original nickel corners, and modest patina on the original Pat. Pending tilt-back legs, sphinx glides, and handle caps. The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. The speaker will be removed and packed separately due to the weight, ensuring the safest transit for both the baffle and speaker cone and voice coil. International orders will be declared as merchandise, and the value of merchandise will be declared as the amount paid. We cannot declare anything as a gift or for a lesser value. 1964 Fender Pro Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Pro in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A true Pre-CBS example, this Pro pushes 40 watts of power via a pair of 6L6 power tubes through a single 15 JBL D130F speaker with its original cone. An ideal amp for crystalline Fender cleans and the sparkling, smooth response for which the Blackface era amps are known, this Pro delivers an extremely efficient and powerful sound, perfect for guitar or pedal steel and an ideal candidate for a Rhodes piano too. Tube rectified and notably responsive to your picking dynamics, this JBL D130F-equipped Pro offers a very articulate top end and incredible efficiency and projection, allowing the Pro to easily keep up with a band. The circuit is extremely stock, with a virtually untouched preamp and full recap of the power supply with high quality Sprague Atoms. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp too, an essential part of the sweet and musical quality of the Blackface amps. The Schumacher transformers are all original, dating to early 1964, and the original CTS pots and chassis stamp date to’64 as well. The original faceplate is extremely clean, with stock witch hat knobs and the “Fender Electric Instruments” text used in the Pre-CBS era. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is fully intact and only lightly aged, with an “NE” date stamp which translates to May of 1964. The JBL speaker is likely an aftermarket upgrade, but a speaker Fender did offer in this era in their Vibroverb and Showman amps. The speaker has a clean frame and most importantly its original JBL cone with a clean “21057″ cone stamp visible. Cosmetically, the amp is extremely clean, retaining the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The tolex is remarkably well-kept as the photos can attest, with sparingly little aging of the nickel hardware and moderate darkening of the grillcloth over the last 55 years. 1964 Fender Princeton Vintage Pre-CBS Blackface Tube Amp Non-Reverb Near Mint

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Princeton in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original catalog, schematic, and envelope. Remarkably preserved, this vintage Blackface Fender was produced in mid-64, placing this Princeton firmly in the “Pre-CBS” era. The amp has both the early no-logo cabinet design and “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate. Unlike its brother the Princeton Reverb, this non-reverb Princeton has much more clean headroom, as the lack of the reverb effect introduces less gain into the circuit, allowing the amp to be clearer and punchier, with a sound that has sparkle and chime indicative of the Blackface line and perfect for recording situations. The controls are simple and intuitive, and the bias-based tremolo circuit has a nice even pulse with a wide range of available speeds. The circuit is 100% original aside from a few new low-noise metal film resistors to ensure optimal performance and an ideal noise floor. The stock transformers were made by Fender’s primary supplier, Schumacher, dating between the 39th and 45th weeks of’64. The famed blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp, instrumental in creating the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface amps. The chassis stamp dates to’64, and the visible date codes on the stock Stackpole pots are from the 34th week of that year as well. The tubes consist of a matched pair of vintage RCA-branded 6V6 power tubes, with an Amperex GZ34 rectifier, RCA-branded 12AX7 and a singular new JJ preamp tube. The tube chart is fully intact with crisp corners and a “NL” date stamp that translates to December of’64. Typically the tube chart date is the latest on any Fender, which is true in this instance as well. The speaker is the original Jensen C10Q which is practically perfect with a deep black frame, near mint gold foil sticker on the magnet, and date stamp from the 23rd week of’64. The stock wiring harness is intact too with the bare metal 1/4 pancake jack seen only on Pre-CBS examples. The hardware on the amp is completely original and the faceplate is nigh flawless, with stock witch hat knobs. The stock black tolex and silver sparkle grill are among the cleanest we’ve ever encountered, and both are clean as can be. This is a pristine, no-excuses early Blackface Princeton which delivers a sound worthy of the Blackface name! The original factory paperwork is included including the original envelope, catalog, and schematic. Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Vibrolux in excellent condition and in good working order. This rare 1×12 “Brownface” version of the Vibrolux is a bridge between the Tweed and Blackface models in both specs and tone, with a glassy, touch sensitive quality, robust cleans, and rich overdrive characteristics when you dime it out. Pushing 35 all tube watts through a vintage Oxford alnico 12LN speaker, there’s plenty to love about the versatility and tone offered by this Fender. The circuit is freshly serviced and largely original, retaining the original Schumacher output transformer and choke which both date to mid-1961. The power transformer is a properly spec’d replacement for this amp with a blank black bell cover. Many of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp and an integral part of the sweetness and clarity of the circuit. All of the stock pots are intact as well (dating to’61) with largely original solder joints and cloth covered wire. The power supply has been recapped, and the bias cap also has a small trim pot piggybacked on it to perfectly dial in the bias of the matched pair of vintage small bottle USA-made 6L6 power tubes. The amp has also been fitted with a modern three-prong power cable. The preamp tubes are a mix of modern and vintage valves from the likes of Sylvania and RCA. The speaker is the right make and model for this amplifier (Oxford 12LN) and era-correct, although it dates a bit earlier than the amp with a code on the edge of the frame which translates to 1957. Cosmetically, this amp would look great in a studio, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The leather handle is a modern replacement, as is the upper back panel, while the lower back panel is original. The faceplate retains all of the original brown barrel knobs. This Vibrolux is a rare, thoroughly serviced, and largely original vintage Pre-CBS Fender amp that’s ready for stage and studio use.
