Vintage Tube Amp

Pilot 602S A tuner amplifier. This is yet another pilot tube amp that has blown my mind. It has been sitting unused for many years. I cleaned the controls. Balance pot still a little scratchy. Probably needs one more spray. I left the tubes it had with the exception of 2 12au7s. They were very low and I replaced with a matching set of strong GE tubes. All the pilot made in Austria 6bq5 tubes are good. 3 are 78% and above one is 61%. You may want to change in the future. I left 3 of the original siemans 12ax7 branded pilot tubes made in West Germany. The other 2 were Raytheon and Ge gray plates. 12at7 original pilot Siemens. So all in all a great set of expensive tubes. Inputs tested and working. With all this said its a vintage unit. You can listen to it as is or replace the old caps and restore to its former glory. Its sounds amazing now. Old units require service. Especially with beautiful well engineered units like this! As you can see this unit is very clean. Magnavox 8802 Tube Amp. Amplifier has all new capacitors, including the electrolytic can capacitor. Amplifier also has 390 Ohm resistor mod to give it a bit more punch. Tube Complement is 6V6, 6EU7 and a 6CA4. All tubes are Magnavox. I do not have a tester, but they appear to have little use cosmetically and sound great. This Amp sounds awesome. The fine item you are considering is a Vintage Silvertone Reverberation Twin Twelve 1474 Tube Guitar Amplifier Amp With Footswitch. This neat vintage amp just came out of long storage, so its still a bit dusty despite my cleaning, and when I powered it up, it took a long time to stop clicking and popping, but it eventually did settle down, and it works! The tremolo is working, but the reverb is not, and the reverb tank is loose in the cabinet, although still connected by wires. While the amp is working, it really needs to be gone through, with the contacts, pots and tube sockets cleaned, and the sound Im getting out of the amp, while very Jack White is pretty thin and crunchy and sounds like there are some tubes in there that are having some issues, so some tubes may need to be replaced. I know theres a big argument about replacing caps and the old style two prong plug thats still on this amp, and thats up to the new owner, but I will say that all the popping and clicking Im hearing on power up and for a few minutes afterward are most likely dry caps that need to be replaced. What I believe is the original footswitch is also included, although the ¼ phono plug has been cut off the end of the jack. The power on light is not lighting and the amp shows plenty of typical cosmetic wear, which gives it a very authentic vintage look, and the amp makes a nice overall cosmetic impression. Oh, also, the amp does not have a back cover and comes just as it is in my photos. The amp measures approximately 29 long by 19 ½ tall by 9 deep and both 12 speakers are working. Since this is a vintage amp with very old components and tubes I cannot guarantee that it may not need parts replaced as per my description above. Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in good working order. This Pre-CBS amp has been incredibly well cared for over the past nearly 50+ years, and comes from the first year of production. However, what truly makes this Super a rarity and a tonally exquisite example is the quad of original Jensen C10R speakers, arguably the rarest speaker quad used in this amp during the Blackface era. As a result, the tone has a hi-fi clarity, punch, and detail rarely afforded a Super Reverb and to round things out the amp is fitted with a complete vintage (and likely original) tube set including a matched pair of Fender-branded RCA 6L6GCs. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides you with plenty of pristine Fender cleans until you hit the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup send the amp into smooth overdrive. The reverb is lush and deep, and the tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to machine gun fast tremolo. The circuit is untouched save for a new three-prong power cable and even the original compliment of filter caps are still working as intended. All of the original coveted blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact too, and an integral part of the sweetness and detail of the Blackface sound. All of the original Schumacher transformers feature date codes from early’64, and the original CTS pots also date to 1964. The chassis itself is very clean as is the original blackface faceplate, which has been fitted with a new compliment of witch hat knobs. The tubes consist of a matched pair of “Made for Fender by RCA” 6L6GC power tubes along with a compliment of General Electric and RCA preamp tubes. In terms of the speakers, this Jensen quad is completely original, with matching late 1964 codes and the original harness. The speaker cones are all original, and the amp has a very strong, clear tone, as these cones have seen limited use over the decades and still reproduce focused lows and chiming highs. All four speakers retain clean square Jensen labels on the ceramic magnets, and the black frames show sparingly little wear. The original smooth black tolex is clean and original with little wear, while the original baffle features new aged silver sparkle grillcloth. The lower back panel is original and the upper panel is a modern replacement. The original nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, chrome tilt-back legs, and raised “Fender” logo are present, and all hardware is in excellent shape. This Blackface Super Reverb is particularly clean, well maintained, and ready for stage and studio use! The original two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch is included.
