Vintage Tube Amp

I acquired this amp from the storage room of a local longstanding fraternal club where it was stored with other outdated vintage electronics. The matched RCA tubes look original to me. This unit sounds better than it looks. I did not have the 6 pole speaker output cables to hear it play through, so I had it economically modified by a 50 year veteran technician so that it would play through with the use of an RCA 1 to 2 splitter. This amp is plug and play ready. This would make a great guitar practice amp. Patched into MIC2 My son has demoed this amp with his modestly priced guitar and the amp sounds great. No hum or buzz unless you turn the volume it up too high at idle. Very clean sound overall with great sustain. There is a short video of him demoing this amp on the worlds most popular video sharing website. 2 of the original 1/4 inputs were converted to speaker outputs. The single PHONO 1 input is now the main input and I have used it with an RCA 1 to 2 splitter for turntables, cassette players, and 3.5/mp3 devices and it always sounded fine. And the bass does have a wonderful resonance that can easily be overused. The MIC 2 input still works with a mic or guitar or anything with a 1/4 male plug. The PHONO2 input was not modified so it will still work with a mono output and ceramic stylus for 78s. The power cord is probably not original has 2 prongs and works fine. The RCA splitter is included. I just deoxed the dial controls. This amp is still very listenable as is, I just dont have a place to use it on a daily basis. As with any old tube amp the large tubes. Release a lot of heat so I usually ran it with the cover off. The light bulb sockets work. There is a demo video on the worlds most popular video sharing website. Up for sale is a terrific and hard to find 1×12 tube amp from Peavey…. As of the date of this listing, 10/24/2018, there are no other 1×12 Ultras for sale! So snag this one immediately while you still can! Reason # 1 is of course the sound you get from 2, count em’, TWO LARGE power tubes! I believe they are 6L6′s. Really makes this amp sing! It’s been stated that this unit sounds very reminiscent of a Mesa Boogie or like a precursor to the consequent legendary 5150′s that came out. Therefore, the clean sound is amazing… Super warm and round in the bass frequencies, just like a Mesa! Also makes it a great platform for your effects if you are a pedal or rack user who likes to get their distortion and/or other effects from outboard gear. The overdrive (crunch) channel on this amp is very musical. Excellent in my opinion! Start with the gain low and you can get all sorts of genres: classic rock, country, blues, etc. Go more than halfway and you’re into hard rock territory. Put the gain on 9 or dime it and you’re pretty much in convincing EVH brown sound territory…. Sounds so sweet here in this area! Want metal and/or high gain? Switch over to the Ultra Gain channel and you are easily there! With a overdrive and/or tube screamer (I’ve got a Fender Drive pedal, Maxon ROD 880, Ibanez DS10 Distortion Charger, and other dirt pedals available in my store) into this amp with the gain even less than halfway, and you’ve got that tight, focused searing sound you want when you play brutal high gain metal! It also sings nicely for solos and lead breaks! Top all of this off with a bright switche for the clean channel to liven up your dark humbucker guitar sounds, gain boost buttons for both the crunch and ultra lead channel, a power amp eq control consisting of a 3 position resonance switch , and you’ve got tons of sonic shaping options with just this one box! Also included is the 3 button footswitch that you NEED to be able to switch from the clean channel to the crunch channel as well as to be able to switch to the ultra gain channel! No reverb on this unit as the reverb tank is missing. You can easily install one if you want to. And with an effects loop put a delay pedal in there…. Up for sale is a A-323B 1940′s era tube amplifier from the Altec Lansing Corporation of Hollywood, California in original untouched condition. It has a six tube compliment consisting of 2-6J7′s, 1-6J5, 1-6L6GA’s, 1-6E6GA’s and a 5U4G rectifier. These Altec amps are phenomenal in that they have a flat frequency response of + or – 1db from 20 cycles to 20000 cycles and full rated power output within 1db from 35 cycles to 12000 cycles! It has two inputs, one for phonograph (high gain) and one for radio (low gain). It has three outputs for speakers 2.5-6 ohms, 8-12 ohms, and 16-24 ohms. When plugged in, the tubes light up, no other testing has been done on the amp. It’s cosmetically in good shape for its age with 70 years of dust. It is dusty with some dirt. The corners have light rust and the edge tips of the cover are bent. The knobs are original. It just doesnt get any better than this. A 1970 Marshall Super Bass 100 watt JMP head in full working order. This JMP is one of the first of the’post-plexi’ era amps. The’A’ serial on this is the first serial following the plexi era. These amps retain most of the plexi circuitry – hence the fantastic plexi tone! Even better, most amps of this age have been messed around with, but this one is as original as it gets. Yes an unmolested, unmessed around with amp from the golden age of rock. If amps could talk, then this one would have a few stories to tell. It has rocked clubs and arenas for over 47 years, and as you can see from the pictures, it has all the scars to show, but it has survived to tell its tale. The only change that I can see is the power cord connection is a modern type. Please have a good look at the photos as they form part of the description and show you the general condition of the amp and give you a good visual indication of what is for sale. Its a heavy piece of kit so it can be collected for cash on collection which I would prefer. Highlands and islands may cost more. I will send this amp overseas and I have quoted an’estimated’ cost to do this. However if your location is remote and costs more, then you will be required to pay the extra cost.
