Rare & Beautiful Vintage Packard Bell El84 Stereo Tube Amp Amplifier (unique!)

It is truly one-of-a-kind as the photos show and is very attractive and unusual-looking. Ive never seen another one like it! He really made this amplifier into a beautiful piece of equipment with its distinctive red paint and trim-pieces, as well as its silver-colored, cone-shaped centerpiece. The amplifier is very clean, too. DETAILED INFORMATION INVOLVING THE AMPLIFIER. As the photos show, the amplifier has a very distinctive, interesting, and one-of-a-kind appearance and isreally beautiful in my opinion. It would make a wonderful addition to any vintage amplifier collection and please check out all of the photos that I have provided. This is one of the best looking tube amplifiers that I have ever seen! I dont know what the model number of this amplifier is although, when I bought it, there was a small piece of paper with it which said that it was a Model DPA 30-3. This would seem to agree with what I have seen on the Internet regarding this amplifier. I was also told at the estate sale that this amplifier came out of a very large and expensive Packard-Bell stereo console unit. As mentioned above, this amplifier has a really unique and cool-looking appearance. It is also very clean. Check out the bright red-painted transformer and the red/silver trim-pieces decorative trim pieces along with the silver-colored, cone-shaped centerpiece at the front of the amplifier! Ive never come across an amplifier that looks as cool as this one does and, in my view, its former owner did a wonderful job in giving the amplifier a very unique appearance. The amplifier does have some discolored areas (rust spots), scuffs, scratches, bends, scrapes, marks, stains, dings, dents, rough spots, etc. On it from age, use, etc. However, many or most of these items are too small to be picked up by the camera in the photos. It is a very distinctive and nice-looking amplifier in my view and please check out the photos for a variety of different views of this amplifier. Located on the top surface of the amplifier is a pair of jacks, the main red-painted power transformer, and 2 output transformers (with both of the output transformers having the same code numbers on them). There is also a large black plastic socket on the top surface of the amplifier. From what Ive seen on the Internet, this socket was used to connect the amplifier to other electronic components used in the stereo console from which the amplifier came. I know nothing about these jacks and socket, and I also do not know if they work, how they work, what they are supposed to do, if they are correct, if they are functional, if they are original, etc. There is no on/off switch or other controls on this amplifier. I also do not know if the power cord/plug is original or not. There is also a really cool-looking red/black painted plastic name-plate on the top surface of the amplifier which says PACKARD BELL ELECTRONICS on it along with a PB logo. This name-plate is really interesting-looking! It does have some paint chipping here and there and it is somewhat warped. In addition, I dont know how it is affixed to the chassis (possibly using some kind of adhesive but I dont really know). In any event, however, the name-plate is really nice-looking in my view and check it out in the photos that I have provided. As mentioned above, the main transformer is painted a really cool and bright-looking red color. The front of the transformer has 2 decorative trim-pieces made of what appears to be wood which has been painted red and silver. Likewise, there is a plastic silver-colored, cone-shaped centerpiece between the two decorative trim-pieces at the front of the amplifier. There are some scratches, scuffs, scrapes, etc. On the transformer, trim-pieces, and centerpiece but, in my view, I think that they look great! In combination, they give the amplifier a very cool appearance and Ive never seen another amplifier like it. I dont know how the trim-pieces and centerpiece are attached to the amplifier chassis (possibly using some kind of adhesive but I dont really know). They do look really cool in my view and I think that the former owner of the amplifier did a great job with them. On the right side of the amplifier, there are 2 more jacks, an outlet, and two more sockets. I know nothing about these jacks, outlet, and sockets, and I also do not know if they work, how they work, what they are supposed to do, if they are correct, if they are functional, if they are original, etc. Regarding the tubes which are included with the amplifier (and came with it when I bought it), they are all Packard-Bell brand tubes and it is quite unusual in my view to have all tubes with the same brand on them that is on the amplifier. The tubes are as follows: (A) 6BQ5 (EL84); (B) 6BQ5 (EL84); (C) 6BQ5 (EL84); (D) 6BQ5 (EL84); (E) 7025; (F) 7025; and (G) 5U4GB. I did not test these tubes and I therefore do not know if they are good or not. Likewise, the graphics are smudged/missing/faint on one or more of the tubes. However, I dont know if these are the correct tubes for this amplifier and whether or not these tubes are in the correct sockets in the photos. I also did not check the tube sockets and I likewise cannot warrant or guarantee that they are good, original, and operational. Accordingly, I will again leave all of the issues with the tubes whether the tubes are good, whether the sockets are good, what sockets the tubes should be in, etc. Also, I have no idea if the wiring in the amplifier is correct or good and I dont know anything about the transformers used by the amplifier if they are correct, original, good, etc. Regarding the electronic components used by the amplifier, I have provided an underside view of the amplifier in the photos which shows various components, wires, etc. In summary, this amplifier is, in my view, really great-looking, clean, impressive, and has a very distinctive retro appearance. It is really unique, beautiful, and one-of-a-kind in my opinion. It is one of the coolest-looking tube amplifiers that I have ever seen. I believe that it would make a wonderful addition to any vintage amplifier collection and a really fun item to own! I have not done anything to this amplifier and all of its parts, transformers, wires, electronic components, tubes, sockets, power cord/plug, capacitors, resistors, jacks, outlet, and all of its other components and I know nothing about their condition. The above-described amplifier may have been worked on, repaired, had parts replaced/repaired, and/or been modified by someone else in the past, but I dont know whether this is true or not. In this regard, I have done nothing to this amplifier and I have not inspected it internally or externally. However, I do not know how much work, parts, wires, wiring work/replacement, repairs, rewiring, upgrading, power transformer(s), output transformer(s), electronic components, power cord/plug replacement, additional parts, tubes, jacks, sockets, outlets, resistors, capacitors, etc. This amplifier is quite heavy. While I will pack this item very securely, some of the wires, components, parts, capacitors, resistors, sockets, transformers, jacks, power cord/plug, name-plate, outlet, resistors, capacitors, etc. Furthermore, some of the paint, silver color, etc. However, I will do my best to try and prevent these situations by very carefully packing this amplifier although I cannot guarantee that they wont happen. Please make a note of this. Furthermore, all of the tubes, tube sockets, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, power cord/plug, sockets, outlet, and all of the amplifiers other components/parts need to be checked out by an electronic expert to see if the tubes are good, if the tubes are the correct ones, if the tubes are in the correct sockets, and if all of the tubes, tube sockets, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, power cord/plug, sockets, outlet, and all of the amplifiers other components/parts are good and operational before the amplifier is powered-up, tested, used, worked on, modified, connected to any other equipment, connected to a power source/supply, upgraded, connected to any speakers, etc. Likewise, I have no idea whether everything is original or not in the above-listed equipment and I therefore cannot make any warranties regarding originality. In this regard, I do not know if any of the parts, power transformer, output transformers, capacitors, resistors, jacks, sockets, outlet, and all of the other components used in the amplifier are original or if they have been replaced at some time in the past. I also do not warrant that this amplifier is complete and I do not know if there are any missing or incorrect parts/components, etc. The item “RARE & BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE PACKARD BELL EL84 STEREO TUBE AMP AMPLIFIER (UNIQUE!)” is in sale since Sunday, October 13, 2019. Vintage Mcintosh MC-60 Tube Mono Block Amplifier Stereo Pair MC-30 Family

For sale is a pair of McIntosh MC-60 amplifiers in completely original condition. They have not been turned on in probably 30 years. The last time they were used, they worked according to the original owner, but the system stored in a console was replaced by a more modern AV system that became popular at the time. I bought them several years ago intending to rebuild the power supplies and use them, but I simply have too many projects and think its a shame to hoard gear that could be used by someone else. These will come with a quad matched set of vintage Tung-Sol 6550s that test good. These amplifiers are in good condition, but with wear consistent with being exposed to air for nearly 60 years. One amplifier is cleaner than the other. One appears to have been improperly scrubbed which scratched the chrome. The lettering is 98% present on both. The transformers and bottom covers are in excellent condition with paint in beautiful condition. This is a matched pair in terms of the circuitry and components that are identical. I guarantee the transformers are good, but these amplifiers are so as-is beyond that. Please message me if you have any gear for sale but dont want to deal with listing! You do not need to live near me. I sell mostly vintage electronics. As such, these items are old and typically out of spec from when they were new. I do my best to test these items and make sure they work before theyre sent out, but I do not guarantee or represent that they will meet the original specifications. I may not even be able to test them, in which case assume that they dont work. However, there are times where I may miss something. If that happens, I hope that you would agree that the most efficient way to take care of an issue is if you simply message me before opening a case or doing anything else. I need an outlet for these items online, so I have no reason to send you something that doesnt work unless Ive noted that it doesnt. I pack items correctly. I know what it takes to get an item to you safely. You will NOT have to ask for it. I will do my best to get items out within a few days, however there are instances where that is not possible. The policies here are difficult in this regard because these vintage items in particular need to be moved and packed carefully. I do not want to damage anything by rushing. With this all being said, if there is any reason that you dont feel that you can leave FIVE stars in every category, please reach out to me before leaving any feedback other than positive with all five stars in every category. Please message me to work this out. The item “Vintage Mcintosh MC-60 Tube Mono Block Amplifier Stereo Pair MC-30 Family” is in sale since Thursday, October 10, 2019. This item is in the category “Consumer Electronics\Vintage Electronics\Vintage Audio & Video\Vintage Amplifiers & Tube Amps”. The seller is “doublewalledbox” and is located in Hanford, California. This is a Harman Kardon A300 Integrated Stereo Tube Amplifier. It uses 7408 Output tubes – a variant of a 6V6. All the tubes were tested on a Sencore TC154 emissions type, tube tester and passed. The testing included grid leakage and shorts. It works well now; I listened to an entire CD earlier today with no problems (distortion or red plating). It includes the owners manual (with the prior owners name on it) and a template for mounting this in a cabinet. It includes the top metal cover which is in very good shape (It looks more gray than green like the pictures show). The finish on the front face is “champagne gold”, but it is worn in some areas (like around the volume control knob and some other areas) and appears to be more silver than the champagne color. Zoom into the front face pictures. The output tubes all have a yellow “Harman Kardon” logo and appear to be original to the amplifier. The smaller tubes (4-12AX7′s and 1-12AU7) are not original to the amplifier (but have been tested and work as the should). The item “Vintage HARMAN KARDON A300 Tube Integrated Stereo Amplifier Sounds Great” is in sale since Sunday, October 13, 2019. 1964 Fender Vibroverb Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Vibroverb in exceptional condition and in good working order. An extremely original and clean example of Fender’s rarest and most desirable Blackface amp, the Vibroverb was only made in the Pre-CBS Fender era, lasting from late 1963 through’64. Most well known for its association with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb delivers 40 tube watts via a pair of 6L6 power tubes and a JBL D130F speaker. The tone is clear and powerful, with dynamic Fender cleans that sparkle and twang. The highly efficient JBL speaker keeps things clean and tight, with very little speaker cone distortion even at high volumes, letting the light compression and velvety tube overdrive of the circuit be heard with stunning clarity when you push the amp near 10 on the volume dial. The Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension with a long decay, and the Vibrato (technically tremolo) has a strong, smooth pulse. The circuit is extremely clean and stock, with all of the original Schumacher-made transformers dating between late’63 and early 1964. The CTS pots date to late’63 too, with two new pots in the Vibrato channel. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters with F&T and Ruby caps, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp are new Spragues. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tubes consist of a new pair of Tung Sol 5881 power tubes, with a USA-made GZ34 rectifier and a host of new tubes in the preamp as well, all of which function as intended. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “NB” date stamp for February of 1964. The original JBL D130F speaker has a recone with a WHF cone and proper aluminum dust cap, and the speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp is an absolute stunner which has likely lived its life in the studio, due to the absence of any notable cosmetic wear. The stock smooth black tolex is exceedingly clean, and the original silver sparkle grillcloth has only aged sparingly, with lots of sparkle left in the thread. The original hardware is all intact and clean, with only the faintest patina on a couple of the corners and on the original Pat. This is a collector-grade and well maintained vintage Fender Vibroverb, ideal for the stage, studio and discerning player! The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1966 Fender Bassman Vintage Tube Amplifier Blackface Head & Cab Combo. This is a never gigged with, only used in studio , Fender Bassman. The amplifier is super clean for its age and functions perfectly. Its cosmetic wear is very minor; two rivets missing from the metal corners, a few screws missing from the cabinets back panel, and small peels in a few parts on the tolex. All wear can be seen in the pictures so please inspect closely. Original speakers were swapped out for Weber 12F150, I do not have the original speakers. The amplifier sounds great and looks really cool for studio or stage! Like other Fender amps, the Bassman evolved through the’50s and’60s, starting as a combo and then being a head/cabinet combination product in 1961. Starting in 1964, the Bassman was built with Fender’s blackface amp design. The item pictured is the one you will be receiving. No additional accessories included. Vintage Heathkit SA-2 Integrated Stereo Tube Amplifier EL-84 phono SEE CONDITION

Vintage Heathkit SA-2 Integrated Stereo Tube Amplifier EL-84 phono SEE CONDITION There are 92 photos of the item below. — The photos load incrementally below depending on your connection, please allow a few seconds for the photos to appear — I’ve been using this amplifier for a few weeks now and I still consider keeping it (I have to say I like how it sounds). As it is now, there is an idle hum which is not affected by volume level (it is present with volume all the way down and does not get louder as the volume is turned up). You can hear it if no music is playing. I’ve spent a lot of time on this amp, from cleaning to some troubleshooting. When I first got the amp the solder joint on the main ground wire on the power filter cap had come loose (it is the under the chassis and is a long straight wire leading towards the front panel with several components connecting to it along the wire). — I brought the amp up on a variac and started using it. The first thing I noticed was one of the power tubes was starting to red plate on one side. I did some tube position changing and was confused as it seemed to in some cases follow the tube and in other cases stay with the tube position. A friend gave me 3 used Mesa Boogie branded EL84′s, I tried swapping those in and was having the same problem. The red plating didn’t start right away but took minutes to start appearing, the amp was listenable even with the red plating but I noticed the associated channel has distortion as the red plating started. During all of this swapping I was just changing the 2nd stage position of each channel (the two sockets closest to the front). I decided to just put two mesa boogie tubes in the 1st positions of each stage and there was no more red-plating. I presume this has to do with bad tubes (the mesa boogie tubes were in a bag marked as “used” and were most likely in a guitar amp so those aren’t a good choice). If I decide to ultimatly keep this I will replace the power tubes (it came with a quad of Realistic/Lifetime tubes, 3 marked as made in Korea and one in Japan). I would say you would want/need a new set of power tubes — At one point I had convinced myself that the right channel was not as loud (based on the location pointer on each of the nested knobs). Like I had to turn the right channel up a little to center the image, I use this on my desk so I don’t have a large area or large speakers to fully listen to the imaging. Anyway, this could be the tubes I would assume. I don’t hear distortion though. — I believe the hum is related to the power filter capacitor (my friend that does repairs indicated that as the first thing to change out). It would probably be a good idea to replace the coupling caps, you can see under the chassis there is a number of paper cased caps, ideally all of those should be changed. — Another thing that happened was when I cleaned the chassis I bumped a wire loose. It was one of the blue wires coming from the RCA jacks leading to the input selector. It came loose at the selector switch. When it was loose, one of the channels on the AUX input was out (it was the jack closest to the front panel when viewed from the top). I connected it with a test lead to the closest selector solder point and the channel was active again, but I found out that the tuner and AUX would play at the same time, I changed it to another close joint and that fixed the issue. However I just found out that when something is connected to XTAL phono, that input source is heard on both the tuner and aux sources (I can’t remember if it also played on mag phono). So I may have not found the correct solder joint, this comes with the build manual and there are wiring diagrams showing were it should go, so would be easy to go over and check, I just don’t use the XTAL phono (I don’t use either phono but tested both). So since I just use the Aux and Tuner I just ignored this. I did test the mag phono while having sources on the other inputs and it was fine. — I noticed that one of the power tube sockets doesn’t grip the tube pins that solidly (like the tube is easy to move in the socket and easy to lift out, the inside contact points are likely bent apart). It does not introduce any problems but does tend to move around if touched or if the amp is moved around etc. — The amplifier was missing the rectifier tube (5AR4), I happened to have an equivalent JJ GZ34. So an obvious upgrade would be to get a good vintage tube in there. PHYSICAL CONDITION NOTES — Note that the two rear feet are missing/broken off While I was getting this cleaned up I found two rubber feet from another component. What I found later was the cover didn’t leave enough room for the round feet (the cover has a lip that screws into the bottom chasis, that lip is too wide to allow the big round foot to be used). So you will need to find two rear feet that works with the fitting hole layout. I use the amp with the cover off and I just rest the back on the two rubber feet. — NOTE that the cover has some bending, along the back top lip edge there is an area that feels bumpy like the metal was creased and then flattened, I can see there is some indenting in that area on the top grille, also if you look at the inside bottom of the cover, you can see what appears to be a mild crease line, like a little dip in the metal like it had been bent. The front top edge also is not really straight. When I had it on the chasis I couldn’t get the sides to look straight, it looked like they bowed in a little, or where not straight. Anyway, the cover finish look fine, and it is not too far off but it would need some adjusting and straightening to look correct (I didn’t even notice it until I was taking the photos but once noticed it is hard to miss). To me this is pretty minor, but to others this may be a bigger issues — The front panel looks like it has a slight bend on the left end (if you look down the top edge). I took a lot of photos of everything so you can see for yourself. — As you can see in the photos, some of the lettering is worn on the front panel. There are a few scratches on the bottom metal gold brushed trim. There is some rust on one of the output transformers etc. The rest of the cosmetics you can see in the photos. When I got this it was very dusty, I didn’t clean the underside that carefully so you can see there is still dust on the wires it looks like moldy dust but I haven’t noticed odors, although it is possible, but overall there wasn’t signs of moisture exposure or mold. — GENERAL NOTES — I show all of the tubes in the photos below. The 2 12AX7 positions have 5751′s (RCA and Raytheon). None of the tubes are tested. There are two other sets of preamp tubes (6AN8A and 6AU6), I presume these may be related to the phono sections? This amp has a repuation for having really great output transformers (51-29 1036952). I really like how this sounds. I used to be an audioholic for years and have owned a lot of gear, I’m not going to compare it to anything other than to say it sounds pleasing (if I do decide to keep it I will replace the filter cap and get new power tubes, maybe going further with cap replacement, which can only improve the audio but affects the collectible value for some). From I can see it looks like it is all original with the original build intact. I bought this at a radio swap meet. It comes with the original assembly manual (which is great for troubleshooting). It comes with some large fold out diagrams, some of which seem to be plans for speaker cabinets or other mounting projects. — The downside is the hum, if you turn the volume down you can still hear it, so in a quiet enviornment it is clearly noticeable. But for music listening I like it (I just have to either ignore the hum when nothing is playing or turn it off). I’m still leaning towards keeping this. — See photos for condition details. — I don’t have a way to arrange for a local pick-up of this item, I’m sorry for the inconvienence.
