Tube Guitar Amp Project Stromberg Carlson Just look at the Vintagy goodness! That’s not dust. Err something like that. Stromberg-Carlson AU-33 Tube amplifier. There are a couple of Youtube videos where people have converted these to guitar amps and they sound great. This has been sitting on my shelf for 2, maybe 3 years waiting for me to “get around to it” well. I never GOT to it. Maybe you have more time and want a killer project? Would make a nice harp amp also! I have not powered it up since i bought it. This needs to be in the hands of a skilled amp tech. This hand-built stereo amplifier features A deluxe Tamura power transformer that offers many AC voltage options. See the last picture in the listing of the power transformer. The heavy-duty Tamura power transformer will run all day and not get hot. It is a commercial broadcast-grade transformer. These are not made today and are from the 1960s. No transformer built today can match this quality. Chassis size is 17″ x 10 X 3″. Bud brand heavy all steel chassis to better support the transformers. ElectroCube audio grade Mylar capacitors. Point to point hand wiring, with no circuit boards that are difficult to repair and often go bad. If other sellers do not show under the chassis it may be because they use overseas circuit boards. Two gain controls — one for left and one for the right hand. These are Alpha professional brand studio audio gain controls. With one for each channel, you can use them as a balance control only better. As you do not need a preamplifier to accomplish this function. Top of the line Tamura brand power transformer — The Tamura power transformer in this amplifier is a 1960 vintage. It has a large heavy copper band shield around the windings to eliminate hum. It is one of the best power transformers ever made. If they were to reproduce a transformer of this quality today, the cost would be no less than 300.00. Many power transformers just meet the minimun amperage requirement so they get very hot. Not with this Tamura transformer it is a commercial-grade unit and can run all day and just get warm.
