Up for sale, a 1966 Fender Twin Reverb in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch and Fender-branded Jensen C12N speaker pair. Stunningly clean, this Twin’s condition is all the more uncommon given its size. While Fender’s smaller combos of the era can occasionally be found in pristine shape, it’s significantly rarer to find Fender’s gig-worthy large combos (which generally saw much rougher usage) as well-kept as this example. This Twin delivers warm, articulate cleans with ample bass response, a wide-ranging and responsive EQ, and present, sparkling Fender top end. When it comes to the quintessential Blackface Fender amp for clarity, headroom, and the balanced, authoritative response of a four 6L6 driven tube amp, it’s hard to beat the Twin. The tube-driven Reverb effect has incredibly depth and splash, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with a wide range of speeds. It’s as iconic a design as Leo Fender ever created, also very well-suited to amplifying pedal steel or electric piano in the vein of a Wurlitzer or Fender Rhodes. The circuit is extremely clean and straight, with all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors in the preamp, a key part of the sweet, musical character of the Blackface-era preamps. The preamp features just a few new electrolytic caps, and the main filter caps have also been replaced with high quality F&Ts to guarantee decades of future trouble-free use. The power tubes are a quad of properly biased TAD 6L6GCs, and the preamp tubes are mostly modern valves as well from the likes of Tung Sol and JJ, while also including a pair of vintage Phillips 12AT7s for the reverb driver and phase inverter. All of the original Schumacher-made transformers are intact with dates spanning late 1965 to the first weeks of’66, and the original CTS pots have visible date codes from the 49th week of’65. The speakers are the original pair of Jensen C12Ns with Fender brown and gold foil labels on the ceramic magnets. The most favored speaker compliment for the Twin and also among the rarest, these speakers have clean black frames and date stamps from the 4th week of’66. These speakers easily handle the power of the Twin, and the speaker harness is original too. The tube chart is fully intact, with crisp corners and virtually unfaded paper, stamped with a bold “PC” date code which translates to March of 1966. The original black tolex is exceptionally clean, with only a few minor marks, primarily on the edges framing the grillcloth. The silver sparkle grillcloth shows only very faint darkening over the decades, and the faceplate is near mint, retaining its full compliment of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is present and positively gleaming (save for some minor scuffs on the corners), including the chrome tilt back legs, nickel corners, sphinx glides, handle, and raised Fender logo on the amp’s face. The model is 1474. Date code on the pots shows 13762xx. Missing all the tubes, except for one 6cg6, all the knobs , the fuse cap and the reverb unit. This amp uses 4 6L6 tubes , used in pairs, with a 5u4 rectifier. Someone before me recovered it long ago. Has original grill cloth. I know a few things about the 1474 , the 1484 and 1485 models. This amp is pretty much 2 1484 amps in one box but less powerful than the 1485 solid state rectifier of the Jack White model. This amp when repaired should put out about 40 to 45 watts a channel. Vintage Fender Bronco Tweed Tube Amp 6 Watt Guitar Amplifier Rare Powers On. Anything beyond is at buyers expense. A great amp that is pretty rare. Powers on and seems to work. Apparently I had the tubes backwards when I had it listed earlier not working. Tested the tubes and all were good, I did replace one. It was good, but didn’t have as much life as it should. So you should be good on the tubes for awhile. I plugged in a mic and was able to hear it in the back of our shop so it does work. See pics for more details of the true physical condition. It does have some wear and scars, but that just shows it’s lived. Ask questions in advance and while no expert in amps, will do my best to get you an answer. Here we have a very, very rare and wanted Amp. I think this one is an early one maybe 1957? Not totally sure of the year. This 213 Model was made between 57 and 62. Its in very very nice conditon. Tolex is in nice shape with some spots that look like maybe they almost caught the cigarette in time, lol. NO rips in either grill cloth. This amp was just gone through professionally. Replaced three tubes and these items were done Full cap job, Special order rare cap, Undate filters, bias cap, node resistors, plate load resistors. Like I said one hundred percent and ready to go. This amp is sixty years old and a piece of working history. But due to it being vintage, still a final sale. Again working 100 percent, sounds great and I had my professional do EVERYTHING he felt it needed. I would love to keep it. But have to pass it on. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Showman in excellent condition, complete with the matching 1×15 “Tone Ring” piggyback speaker cabinet and original JBL D130F speaker. The amp boasts a full compliment of modern valves, including a quad of properly biased Ruby 6L6s, and this Showman has a sound that is powerful, clear, and sparkling. As Fender’s flagship amp boasting a whopping 85 watts of all tube power, the Showman is a real powerhouse for guitar, bass, or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. The low end is ample and thick, and the amp has plenty of headroom and efficient clean power until about 6-7 on the Volume knob where things start to compress and overdrive. Fresh back from our techs and ready for another half century, this Showman is dialed in for stage and studio use. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D130F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so impressive! The speaker cabinet retains all of its original fiberglass sound dampening sheets and the D130F sounds incredible with a professional recone. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced and is very original, with a virtually untouched preamp save for a few small electrolytics. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are intact with a sweet, musical tone that’s a hallmark of the Blackface sound. The original power transformer is intact, dating to the 18th week of’65, while the output transformer and choke are genuine vintage Fender transformers substituted later in the amp’s life and dating to 1970. Other important date codes include the CTS pots, with visible date codes from the 12th week of’65. The power supply has also been professionally recapped, and the tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet too, with an “OE” date stamp that translates to May of 1965. This amp sports the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the hardware is intact (with the exception of new back panel screws on the cabinet), including chrome tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars, handles, corners and raised metal Fender logos on both the head and speaker cabinet. The amp shows some nicks and scuffs around the edges of the enclosure, and the grill on the head and cabinet has aged uniformly. The original one-button footswitch to engage the Tremolo is included.
