Vintage Tube Amp

Up for sale, a 1967 Silvertone model 1482 tube amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the full original Silvertone-branded tube set. With a 100% original circuit and a modern three-prong power cable, this Silvertone is ready for another 60 years! Manufactured by Danelectro in the USA, this amp is often referred to as the “poor man’s Deluxe” for its rich gain, touch-sensitive responsiveness, and 15 watt 6V6 push/pull tube power section, features which are all very reminiscent of the Tweed-era Fender Deluxe from the late’50s. This amp really does tap into what made Fender’s Tweed amps great, and at about 1/10th the price, the Silvertone 1482 is one of the best bargains on the vintage amp market. With simple controls for Volume and Tone for both the Mic and Instrument inputs, the amp also boasts a powerful bias-based tremolo circuit that has a great pulse and smooth waveform. The preamp is untouched, and the point-to-point, hand-wired circuit boasts the original capacitors, carbon comp resistors, and CTS pots which date to the late weeks of’66. Both of the original transformers are intact, and the amp is stocked with its original pair of Silvertone-branded 6V6 power tubes. A modern three-prong power cable has been installed, and the speaker is the original Fisher 12 alnico magnet driver, featuring a date code on the magnet bell from 1967. The original gray thatched covering is in good shape, with just a couple minor marks and one circular mark on the top of the enclosure. The original wheat grillcloth with sparkle thread is present, and the aluminum faceplate retains all of the original knobs and black silkscreen text.

Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone 1481 vintage Class A tube amp in excellent condition. Freshly serviced, this amp features a simple single channel design with a 6V6 power tube and 8 Jensen speaker. Roughly equivalent to a Fender Champ, the 1481 offers sweet, sparkling cleans and overdriven grit. The point-to-point circuit retains the original transformer pair, the CTS pots have visible date codes from the 17th week of’66, and the original two-prong power cable is present. The 8 alnico magnet Jensen speaker is a later substitution, more powerful than the original speaker and dating to 1961. The cabinet retains its gray textured exterior, gold sparkle grillcoth and small Silvertone badge.

Up for sale, a 1965 Silvertone 1481 vintage Class A tube amp in excellent condition. Freshly serviced, this amp features a simple single channel design with a 6V6 power tube and 8 speaker. Roughly equivalent to a Fender Champ, the 1481 offers sweet, sparkling cleans and overdriven grit. The point-to-point circuit retains the original transformer pair, and the power supply has been professionally recapped. The CTS pots have visible date codes from the 31st week of’65, and the original two-prong power cable is present. The 8 ceramic magnet speaker is a later addition and a good pairing with the circuit. The cabinet retains its gray textured exterior, gold sparkle grillcoth and small Silvertone badge.

Very cool vintage amplifier. It’s very dusty and needs a good cleaning. There’s some crackling in the pots when you turn the dials but it’s not actually not that bad. Totally playable as it is. The video in the gallery is of my nephew playing it exactly as-is. Be ready to dust and clean this out I’m not doing anything to it because I don’t want to damage anything. The power wire is solid…. It doesn’t have any cracking in it. For restoration and needs cleaning. It will be extremely safely packed with ups. I don’t cut corners on packing. I pack a lot of vintage electronics and turntables so I understand they care that goes into this.

Silvertone Medalist Model 7405 Stereo Tube Integrated Amp. Similar if not identical to the Medalist 3029 model. Works as it should and sounds great. All controls and tube sockets have been cleaned. All inputs have been tested. Has some scuffs & scratches. Looks like 2 of the can capacitors have had their components replaced.

Had this integrated amp around for many years now, from a friend who pulled it from an old console. Time now to share it with someone who wants to, and has time to, give it some TLC. I’m just not able to get to all the items around here I’ve accumulated over the 1990′s and 2000′s. Great tube types – Sylvania black plate 6BQ5s and RCA 12AX7, all included, and the rectifier, all original! Nice cosmetics too, clean chassis, no dings/dents, not dropped. Was curious though and powered it up to 30Vac and watched the B+ climb and stay stable at the power filter cap and at the output transformers and output tubes. Looks good to go for an upgrade to more modern or a partial/complete rebuild. Would make a nice office/den/bedroom amp at about 6 old school watts max per ch. May not have enough power for your main system, but really depends on your speakers and expectations. Up for sale, a 1965 Silvertone model 1485 piggyback tube amplifier in excellent condition, freshly serviced and in perfect working order. A vintage USA-made amp crafted by Danelectro for Sears’ house brand Silvertone, the amp features the original dolly and sextet of matching Jensen C10Q speakers, loaded with a new properly biased small bottle Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tube quad. The 1485 as advertised by Silvertone pushes a whopping 120 watts, but stripping away the marketing, this amp functions closer to 100 watts via the power tube quad. Extremely powerful and articulate, these amps have much more headroom, punch, and top end response than the smaller 1484, and can produce both bold cleans and roaring overdrive. The smooth articulate crunch of this model has found favor with players across the spectrum, and it responds very well to pedals too. Both channels feature a pair of inputs (high and low) and both channels share the built-in Reverb and Tremolo effects. While the Tremolo has a nice strong pulse that gets quite thick and deep, the Reverb is infamous in its own right for its thin, trashy sound that’s perfect for lo-fi and surf tunes, with a unique gain structure and chiming top end character. The circuit has been thoroughly overhauled by our in-house techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and the amp is a robust, gig-worthy machine, featuring a fully recapped power supply while retaining a bevy of original capacitors and carbon comp resistors. The stock output transformer is intact, while the power transformer is a heavy duty replacement, along with a modern Heyboer choke. The original CTS pots date back to the 32nd week of’65. The speakers are a particularly clean sextet of original Jensen C10Q 10 drivers, with minty black frames and 1965 date codes. Two of the speakers feature brand new cones, while the other four are original. All of the original barrel knobs are intact on the polished aluminum faceplate, which also retains all of the original black silkscreen text. The amp retains its original charcoal covering which shows some honest wear on the edges of the cabinet and head enclosure, and the original grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the gold thread. The head secures into the back of the cabinet with the original swiveling nylon tabs, and even the original dolly is included, secured to the bottom of the cab. The original two-button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions!
