The Vintage 16 is the low-wattage, “boutique” recording tube amp so many players are looking for. Everything about this little amp “oozes” tone. The SOAK control goes from stout clean tones with rich midrange body to a filling upper-midrange snarl defining its tweed sound. The ALL tube design incorporates V1 12AX7 preamp and two EL84 output tubes. The power amp in its normal “PENTODE” mode puts out a crisp 16 watts. The “TRIODE” mode produces 5 watts of incredibly sweet spongy harmonics, ideal for both mic’d recording and small stage rigs. Selectable 8 ohm/16 ohm impedance switch, along with silent mode for line-out operation. Made to last, with a quality plywood enclosure covered in vintage tweed. The sound possibilities are only limited by your fingers and imagination! All tube design. Two 12AX7 preamp tubes, two EL84 output power tubes. 1 Meg Passive tone controls for broad adjustment range. Front controls: VOLUME, SOAK, BASS, MID, TREBLE and REVERB. Metal shaft controls, ivory knobs, red jewel lamp. Strong plywood enclosure covered in thick tweed vinyl. GT12 speaker / 16 ohms. Output: 16 watts / 5 Watts, Pentode / Triode into 8ohms. Cabinet-voiced line out, 2 speaker jacks. CH EQ: 60, 650, & 11.5K Hz. Size: 16 inches wide x 8.5 inches deep x 17.75 inches high. RARE, ORIGINAL, WORKS GREAT! High Quality, American Made, Point-to-point wiring. This is a VINTAGE 1976 SANO SUPER NOVA STEREO TUBE AMPLIFIER. Designed to be used for guitar and I suppose accordion. It is complete and functions properly. Controls and inputs have been cleaned, no scratchy pots. Everything works as it should. The cabinet covering shows light wear. The grill cloth is in great shape. This is a solid, road worthy beast; weighs 65 lbs.. Each channel has volume, treble and bass controls. The stereo channel has a second input stage with treble volume and bass volume controls. There are push buttons to engage the reverb and tremolo for each/either/both channels. Made in the U. I honestly believe I was the first person to ever open the back of this amplifier. Nothing has been touched for 44 years. Original transformers, speakers, pots, electrical components, tubes, etc. From what I can tell the amp is completely original with the exception of one of the knobs. Power amp tube lineup… 2-GE 12AU7, Westinghouse 5U4GB rectifier, 2-GE 8417 power tubes. The preamp tubes are also all original… One United Electron 6FQ7 and the balance are USA General electric 9 pins (2-12AX7′s and 2-12AU7′s or 12AT7′s). This has the original 2 prong cord. The side of the fuse holder is damaged and you should consider replacing it if/when you decide to upgrade to a grounded power cord. The speakers are original to the amplifier. Square magnet, Eminence made, 67-7548 codes, so made the 48th week of 1975. Look like they could easily handle 50 watts a piece. This is definitely a clean amp. And I’m saying clean all the way up the volume dial. The 8417 power tubes are designed for high fidelity and that is exactly what you get. Full bass, rich midrange and crystal clear highs. Serious Jazz, acoustic electric and classic country players will love this amp. I would guess it puts out 50-60 watts. Rock and rollers should also consider this amp. This would make a great foundation for pedals if you want your sound to remain constant at all volumes. The tremolo and reverb are very well designed and rival that of the best Fender, Traynor or Ampeg from the same era. That is a bargain. This item is heavy and will require extra time and care to package. I never use UPS. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet and knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hour recently and it did not fail, smoke, blow fuses, etc. Typically easy and inexpensive to maintain, you should be aware, old electronic require maintenance. Old electronic can fail at any time. We will work through the claim together until things are right. Vintage Dynakit ST-70 Stereo Tube Amp Power Amplifier UNTESTED

Vintage Dynakit ST-70 Stereo Tube Amp Power Amplifier UNTESTED. Looks complete with all tubes and knobs. Missing the bottom metal plate & cage. Info found on the web. The Dynakit Stereo 70 is a complete dual 35 watt power amplifier kit which offers the highest possible fidelity, at low cost and in a compact arrangement. It uses a patented circuit of outstanding performance characteristics, along with top quality parts, including the new Dynaco Super-Fidelity A-470 transformers – the finest available. The measured specifications show that the Stereo 70 is an amplifier of unequalled performance, and its listening quality is also unrivalled by any regardless of price. The two non-interacting 35 watt channels provide adequate power, in a stereophonic or two channel system, for loudspeakers of any level of efficiency. The channels can be paralleled for a full 70 watts of low distortion output, suitable for practically any monophonic use even where several loudspeakers are in use in different areas. The high power capability and low internal impedance provide excellent damping for all types of high quality speaker systems without need to make adjustments to match specific speaker installations. The design features of your Dynakit which contribute to its superior listening quality include some which are not revealed by the customary steady-state laboratory measurements. For example, it does not exhibit bounce and flutter when pulsed with a transient signal. Thus a sharp percussive signal like a drum beat or a piano note will be reproduced with sharpness and clarity and neither overhang nor muddiness. The Stereo 70, unlike many other amplifier circuits, has been designed to provide its specified performance on a loudspeaker load, not just under laboratory measuring conditions. Therefore, the connection of a loudspeaker to the amplifier does not deteriorate its performance or listening quality. Power output: 35 watts per channel into 8 (stereo). Frequency response: 10Hz to 40kHz. Total harmonic distortion: 1%. Input sensitivity: 1.3V. Signal to noise ratio: 90dB. Speaker load impedance: 4 to 16. Valve complement: 4 x EL34, 2 x 7199, 1 x GZ34. I do not have the proper equipment to test a tube amp and do not want to risk applying power to a 60 year old unit. Previous units that I acquired from the same audiophile collection have proven to be in very good condition. He did not own junk. See pics for details. Will be carefully packed in a sturdy box with ample packaging. On all 6 sides. The Last pictures is an example of how I pack these (with Styrofoam on the top and bottom as well as the sides shown). It is located in Simi Valley, CA. Just 40 miles north of Los Angeles. The item “Vintage Dynakit ST-70 Stereo Tube Amp Power Amplifier UNTESTED” is in sale since Friday, January 8, 2021. Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone model 1484 “Twin Twelve” piggyback tube amplifier, fully serviced and complete with the original Jensen C12Q speaker pair and full compliment of vintage USA-made tubes. Manufactured by Danelectro in the USA and marketed through Sears via their house brand “Silvertone, ” the 1484 was one of the top-tier department store amps of its day, and also an amp that’s found favor with todays players including Jack White and Beck. The 1484 “Twin Twelve” has an extremely smooth and rich breakup, with warm clean tones at low volumes that give way to a touch of tube overdrive at roughly half volume, and reach full tube saturation with a touch of compression anywhere beyond 7 on the dial. Both channels feature a pair of inputs (high and low) and both channels share the built-in Reverb and Tremolo effects. While the Tremolo has a nice strong pulse that gets quite thick and deep, the Reverb is infamous in its own right for its thin, trashy sound that’s perfect for lo-fi and surf tunes, with a unique gain structure and chiming top end character. The circuit has been serviced with just a few new signal caps in the preamp as needed, and the power supply has been rebuilt with all new electrolytics as well, with a modern three-prong power cable installed as well as a conventional 1/4 female jack on the head for ease of use with other cabinets. The original power transformer is intact, and the output transformer is a modern, factory-spec replacement. The original CTS pots date to the 17th week of 1966, and the speakers are the original pair of C12Q Jensen 12 drivers which date to the 21st week of’66. The tube compliment includes a matched pari of small bottle GE 6L6s, along with the matched set of original Silvertone-branded preamp tubes, manufactured by the likes of RCA and Amperex. All of the original barrel knobs are intact on the polished aluminum faceplate, which also retains all of the original black silkscreen text. The original gray textured covering and gold sparkle grillcloth are intact. The cabinets show some modest edge wear, particularly on the speaker cab, yet the grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the thread, and both the head and speaker cab are structurally sound. This amp is gig-ready and fully serviced for optimal performance and longevity. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. The photos shown here are of several different amplifiers, meant to provide an example of the units offered for sale. Yours will look like the ones in these photos. Some pictures may show different brands of tubes. The tubes that are included are described in this listing. Vintage Vibe – Modern Reliability – The Beautiful Sound of Tubes. So how does it sound? Magical – very musical with a highly detailed voice and plenty of solid, clean wonderful bass. This amp is absolutely dead quiet – no hum, no buzz, no hiss, no snap-crackle-pop! It sounds like it is supposed to. If you’re in search of that golden age of audio sound with stunning vintage looks, you’ve just found it. This is your bad boy. This is a 100% brand new amp, a very high quality build, total listening satisfaction. This ST-70 delivers dramatically improved sonics as the result of being carefully and thoughtfully built, all new, from the ground up, with technologically advanced components and all high-end parts. Is used with only a couple of re-engineered elements on the PCB solder traces to accommodate the 6GH8A tubes without having to use an adapter. Enjoy the rich smooth tones of analog audio and even order harmonics that only vacuum tube amplification can produce. It reveals musical qualities with fantastic realism and depth you may have never imagined possible. The legendary original design up to date with highly improved levels of sound quality, looks and performance. Because of the ST-70′s naturally high impedance (470K) it is compatible with virtually any solid state or tube preamp. This amplifier puts out 70 watts total, 35 watts per channel. It is fairly safe to say that most people today would have no idea of how wonderful a Stereo 70 amplifier is capable of sounding like. “Original condition” amps or those “updated” or having any number of “modifications” from mild to wild can still leave a lot to be desired. “Restored” is more than popping in a few capacitors and some tubes. Much more will need to be done to fully bring about that great sound the amp once had. Although they will play music, they are still incapable of reproducing the sound quality they possessed when new, 50 years ago unless they are fully restored. Resistors become noisy and drift out of tolerance due to age and heat. Circuit board and component materials begin to deteriorate causing signal degradation, solder joints and tube sockets can be loose, oxidized, worn and have poor quality connections causing signal interference and noise. Capacitors lose their range and clarity, their values having changed with time. Hiss, buzz, hum, pop and fuzziness are not normal or desirable qualities. Isn’t the great smooth sound of a time long gone by what you’re really after, those sweet tones produced only from tube amplification? Like a musical time machine, this amplifier will take you back to the beginning, like when these amps were new. But there’s even more to consider here. All of the components used in this amplifier have greatly improved characteristics over the ones available and used 50 years ago. That makes the sound quality of this amp even better than one would have been then, as a new one 50 years ago. Take a good close look at this one. Don’t cheat yourself out of what you’re really wanting; superb sound, high build quality, safe and reliable operation, great looks and that comforting pride of ownership. Pay particular attention to the size (height) of the power transformer on this amp (the middle one). Transformers are the heart and soul of a tube amp, period. Dynaco wasn’t messing around when they designed and built their originals. Notice how tall this new Dynakit transformer is compared to the original Dynaco PA060 power transformer. This is a real case of bigger is better. These new Dynakit transformers were reverse engineered from the original Dynaco designs using modern technologies and insulations. An increased lamination stack on this power transformer allows it to run cooler and provide better regulation. These transformers wont buzz or hum like the originals often do either. A major factor to consider here too is that the original transformers were designed to run from yesterday’s 117 Volt household current. Today’s household current is often 125 Volts or more so the use of a “step down” or “bucking” transformer is necessary to retard the voltage down to a safe operating level for amps having the original transformers. The new transformers are made for today’s higher household currents or VAC (Voltage). These transformers can be operated directly from your household outlets without secondary devices needed to reduce the voltage. These are USA made transformers that meet and exceed every aspect of the originals. If there were some sort of “magic” in the use of cloth leads, Dynakit would have certainly insisted on using them again. There’s simply no magic in cloth covered lead wire, period, it is inferior. In any comparison, these new transformers are just better than those old originals. Modern advancements in materials, methods and technologies used in the production of these transformers has resulted in superb transformers that operate quieter and cooler than the originals while providing less distortion, more power with increased reliability. The new A470 output transformers are also greatly improved, like the power transformer. The output transformers are interleaved/layer-wound and incorporate high quality M-6 grain oriented laminations. These also use better quality wire with better insulation, the primary is wound the same as the original A470 using the same number of turns on the same number of sections. These are made using the same patented Dynaco winding method, and made on the same core size and material type as the originals. These transformers are in one word, exceptional. I have selected the Groove Tubes 5AR4/GZ34 as the rectifier tube in my Dynaco 70′s for more than 2 years now. It has the highest current capability and has been 100% reliable, it also looks right at home in the amp. I believe it to be the best current production rectifier tube of its type on today’s market. Same story for the NessTone EL34/6CA7 tubes, they’re all I use now. These output tubes are hand selected and tested here in the USA and then identically matched as a quad (4 tubes) by their plate current test. Results using the ROE computerized testing system. I have had nothing but satisfied buyers and zero failures, they sound amazing. This amp also comes with 2 NOS RCA, GE or similar (as per availability) 6GH8A tubes, tested and matched. The 6GH8A like the 7199 tube is a vacuum tube combining both a pentode and triode in a single glass envelope. Each section has a separate cathode and is electrically independent, the pentode is used for the input stage, and the triode as a phase inverter. The Dynaco ST-70 Series II came from the factory with a 6GH8A driver board and tubes. According to Dynaco published research and literature the 6GH8A tube actually outperformed the 7199! I also offer this amp in a 7199 version, identical in build with the exception of the 7199 driver board and tubes. The photos show the ST-70 using the updated Dynakit PC-3 board made for 6GH8A tubes. Amplifier makers like HH Scott, Harman Kardon and Eico, among others, have used the 6GH8A since back in the late 50′s. I honestly find no audible difference in the 7199 and the 6GH8A so long as both tubes are of equal quality. Good quality tubes are essential for the overall sound quality simply because they are a part of the circuit, the circuit can only sound as good as it’s parts will allow. Good circuit design is critical, the Dynaco circuit is genius. The 6GH8A, also no longer in production, appears to be in abundant supply and is very affordable. Like all tubes, some brands and build styles offer both sonic and reliability advantages over cheaper, inferior made tubes. This amp comes with 2 NOS RCA, GE or a Mullard variant (as per availability) 6GH8A tubes, tested and matched. Contact me if you want the 7199 version, I’ll make a special listing for you. Tube installation instructions with a numbered easy to follow pictorial is included. Bias will be pre-set but due to variations in AC wall voltages the bias should be checked and adjusted as necessary for your specific location. Proper bias is essential for best sound quality and performance of the amplifier. Proper bias is also key to getting the most life out of your tubes. You are responsible for proper bias adjustment and maintenance, you will need a voltmeter that measures/reads DC volts and a small slot head screwdriver to turn the adjusters and to remove and reinstall the amplifiers cover. Bias should be set to 1.56 volts DC. Each unit is custom, a hand built, made to order unit. Your unit will look identical but wire color and routing may be slightly different from unit to unit, these are hand built units. Turnaround time is running 4-5 weeks right now. The manual with instructions, pictorials, diagrams, schematics and supplemental documentation is included. The item “NEW! This thing is VERY LOUD and can give you plent of fun by invert the position of the power tubes or change the type; s ince the BIAS never needs adjustment, I tried it with several different power tubes configuration as eight EL34s, eight 6L6s, eight 5881s, two of these plus two of those, four of this plus four of that, and also by swapping and mixing all them at once! And it works well anyway! After trying this, you will throw your beloved Mesa Rectifiers down at the garbage dump! BTW because the label near the fuse holder says “220V” then I suppose you need a step-down voltage device if you want have this running in a US wall. Please take a look at these. In very nice condition for being nearly 70 years old- expect shelf ware and dust etc. Tips of the plastic “M” have absorbed the surrounding color of the darker plastic as often happened with these. Paint on the case is excellent. Power wire has a break in the sheathing.
