Vintage Tube Amp

Up for sale here is this set of 2 vintage Eico HF-14 tube amplifiers, with serial numbers 1813 and 4365. These came from a local tube guy, and came to me just as you see them, with no tubes. They are in fairly good physical condition, but here are some things to note. One has lots of paint chipping, and the other has some wear but nowhere near as much. Both have some rust on the transformers. Cords are attached and seem to be in good shape. One appears to be complete, but the other one has a few loose wires underneath and looks like it’s missing a bit of circuitry. These were updated at some point, to some extent–they have some new caps and resistors. I will guarantee the transformers to be good. This is a really rare pair of amps–don’t miss it! Heathkit SB-220 Linear Amplifier. This is an all complete unit with Original Heathkit Assembly Manual. Inside has 2 x 3-500Z tubes. Bought his a a recent hamfest and original owner said it was still working. Being so old I suggest having this unit gone through by a tech to make sure everything is good. I have not tested this or even power it up. Unit appears to be all stock and original. There is also a small little dent/ding on the top cover which is hardly noticeable in pictures above. Eico HF20 tube amp. Amp powers on and has good sound from the different inputs and 8ohm speaker output, with a slight hum heard when nothing is being played, and slightly “scratchy” knobs. Unit could probably use some service as it has been sitting for many years, and due to this like any vintage electronic: could become defective at any point. Unit has no apparent substantial damage beyond some corrosion in various places and dust here and there. Please refer to the photos for a further evolution of condition. Nice pair of Vintage W5M Mono block HiFi tube power amps. These were my main amps for a few years after they were fully rebuilt. 30 watts per channel (amp). Cosmetically and electronically excellent and ready to run. These are not full of cheap Russian tubes, but have nice mostly old USA tubes and sound amazing. These are 6L6 based Williamson style amps, and each uses a pair of 12AU7′s in the preamp and driver stages, and a 5R4 tube rectifier. I installed a pilot light in one of them. One has the larger “old” style output transformer, and one has the “new” type. Both are Peerless of course. Some guys say the older larger one has better bass, while some guys say the newer one has special nickel plated laminates and sounds even better with more “clarity”. Read about them on the interweb. I couldn’t tell the difference in everyday use as differences in room. Will have more of an impact, but suit yourself. Any difference is very subtle if even detectable, (and I used large Altec 604-8G studio monitor speakers). This listing is for a Pair of Vintage McIntosh MC-30 Tube amplifiers Model Type A-116-B. The amplifiers are in good working condition and were serviced about a year ago by a highly qualified technician who changed the can electrolytic capacitor on one of them and changed whatever else either of them need to get them in good working order. Cosmetically they are in very nice condition with the one on the left in a little better condition. The better condition one has very minor chrome blemishes and almost no pitting/rust. The second one has minor pitting and rust. Deatails of the cosmetics can be seen in the pictures. Some of the electronic part/s may continue for another 50 years without need of replacement and some electronic part/s may fail a few days after you start using the item. Vintage Gretsch Tube Amplifier. Model: 6150, Single Ended, Class A. Tube Compliment: 12AX7, 5Y3, 6V6. The original, 8 Jensen speaker has been upgraded to a Ted Weber Signature Series. The death cap has been removed. The original, 2 prong, power cord, has been replaced with a much safer, 3 prong cord. This amp is fully functional. It idles very quiet. There are no unwanted humming, hissing, or crackling noises what-so-ever. The volume pot is smooth turning and produces no scratchy sounds at all. The fact that this amplifier is so quiet at idle, means that it is perfect for studio use and as a recording amp. It is also great for use, as a gigging amp, at smaller venues. This Gretsch has a wonderful tone and can get quite loud for its small size. The smooth coned, 15 watt speaker, provides for a little earlier breakup than a ribbed cone. If you want an authentic, early 1960s sound, then this may very well be the combo amp that you have been searching for. There are some signs of wear, which is normal for a 57 year old amplifier. Signs of wear can include: rust, abrasions, cracks, discoloration, dents, staining, and tears to the fabric.
