EICO HF-81 Stereo Tube Amplifier with All Vintage Tubes, with EL84/6BQ5 in Output. Watch it in operation with music from Pro-Ject turntable on Youtube. All tubes are vintage and all included; some are Mullard etc. I provided some pictures to show the circuitry under the chassis. I plugged it in wall voltage of 120V and the amp worked fine and produced great and balanced music in both channels as shown in the video. Since this amp is very old, it may need services before daily use. At least, the new owner should have some professional to go over it. I did notice the following issues. The fuse holder is bit loose. At times, I had to re-tighten the fuse to power it up. The shaft of TREBLE control pot can be pushed in if you re-install the knobs on it. I inserted a small piece of hard foam behind it (inside the chassis) so it’s fixed, for now. I felt some of the contacts or wirings are not 100% secured. I once pulled out one tube shield and incidentally brushed on something (didn’t know what), causing the left channel silent. That channel recovered by itself a few minutes later. I couldn’t find out the cause. That’s why it’s very good idea to have a professional to service it so you can really enjoy it. Physical condition is really good for the age, much better than many others showed up for sale. The front is beautiful; all knobs are original. Chassis is pretty clean. Meshed cover is good. There may be some screws missing in the bottom plate. Overall, this is a beauty to me. I have other audio equipment, like. Beautiful And Rare Vintage Packard Bell Stereo El84 Tube Amp Amplifier

A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THIS BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN, AND RARE VINTAGE PACKARD. BELL EL84 STEREO TUBE AMPLIFIER IS PROVIDED AFTER THE PHOTOS. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE DESCRIPTION. It is made by Packard-Bell and is one of the nicest and cleanest looking versions of this particular amplifier that I have ever seen. This amplifier has a shiny and very clean chassis along with a very large power transformer and matching output transformers. It has a wonderful look to it and it would make a great addition to any vintage tube amplifier collection. DETAILED INFORMATION INVOLVING THE AMPLIFIER. As the photos show, the amplifier is very clean, shiny, and has a wonderful appearance in my opinion. It has a very retro appearance, as well as a clean and well-organized layout of tubes and components in my view. Please check out all of the photos that I have provided which show the amplifier from many different views. As shown in the photos, there is a small paper sticker on the amplifier chassis which has some information on it including an indication that this amplifier is a Model DPA-30-2. Evidently, the console that the amplifier came from was a Model RPC-12D, according to the sticker. The sticker also has the following additional information on it: Serial 2494 and PB# 71199. As mentioned above, this amplifier has a really unique and cool-looking appearance. Likewise, it is very clean and has a nice shine to it. Other than this information, I know nothing more about this amplifier and its history. As noted in this description, the amplifier chassis looks very nice and clean in my view. It does have some discolored areas, scuffs, scratches, bends, scrapes, marks, swirls, stains, dings, dents, rough spots, residue, etc. On it from age, use, etc. However, many or most of these items are too small to be picked up by the camera in the photos. It is a very distinctive and nice-looking amplifier in my view and please check out the photos for a variety of different views of this amplifier. Located on the top surface of the amplifier is a very large and unusual-looking power transformer which is painted black. This transformer is very big and heavy. This big transformer has a very distinctive and unique appearance as the photos show. The black paint on the transformer is nice, clean, and shiny-looking in my view. There are some paint chips, scuff, scratches, scrapes, etc. On the power transformer (especially on the top of it) but as noted above, it looks good in my opinion There are also 2 output transformers which are clean and shiny as the photos show. They are matching transformers in that they both have the same code numbers on them, namely, 89532 and 394108. I dont know if these power and output transformers are good, functional, original, operational, if they have been worked on or repaired, if they are complete, if they are correct and proper for this amplifier, etc. Also on the amplifier chassis are a number of other items. These items include: (A) 2 small jacks; (B) a large black plastic socket; (C) a small black plastic outlet; (D) 2 small semi-circular sockets adjacent the output transformers; and (E) 2 small side-mounted additional semi-circular sockets which are attached to the side of the amplifier chassis using a metal mounting bracket as shown in the photos. I know nothing about these jacks, sockets, and outlet, and I also do not know if they work, how they work, what they are supposed to do, if they are correct, if they are functional, if they are original, if they have been worked on or repaired, if they are complete, if they are correct and proper for this amplifier, etc. To the best of my knowledge, there is no on/off switch or other controls on this amplifier. I also do not know if the power cord/plug is good or not and if it is original, functional, operational, correctly-wired, correct and proper for this amplifier, etc. I not inspected or tested the power cord/plug (or any of the other components and parts used by the amplifier, as well as the amplifier as a whole) as noted herein. The top surface of the amplifier also includes a really cool-looking black plastic oval-shaped name-plate holder with a very interesting-looking metal name-plate in the center which says PACKARD BELL on it along with a PB logo. This name-plate is really interesting-looking! It does have some bends, uneven surfaces, scratches, etc. On it here and there but it looks really nice in my opinion. In addition, I dont know how the name-plate holder and name-plate are affixed to the chassis (possibly using some kind of adhesive but I dont really know). Likewise, I dont know if it is original or not (and goes with this particular amplifier) In any event, however, the name-plate is really nice-looking in my view and check it out in the photos that I have provided. Regarding the tubes which are included with the amplifier (and came with it when I bought it), they are all Packard-Bell brand tubes and it is quite unusual in my view to have all the tubes with the same brand on them that is on the amplifier. The tubes are as follows (see the photos of the tubes): (A) 6BQ5 (EL84); (B) 6BQ5 (EL84); (C) 6BQ5 (EL84); (D) 6BQ5 (EL84); (E) 7025; (F) 7025; and (G) 5U4GB. I did not test these tubes and I therefore do not know if they are good or not. Likewise, the graphics are smudged/missing/faint on one or more of the tubes. Also, affixed to one side of the power transformer is a paper tube diagram which lists the tubes and their locations. This paper diagram has some bumps, lumps, lines, creases, scuffs, hard-to-read portions, smears, etc. But is nearly all there as the photos show. I also did not check the tube sockets and I likewise cannot warrant or guarantee that they are good, original, and operational. I did notice that one of the EL84 tube sockets appears to be a bit different from the other EL84 tube sockets and is mounted using very small screws (instead of the rivets used by the other tube sockets). I also noticed that the EL84 tube fits more loosely in this socket than in the other sockets. Accordingly, this socket may need repair, replacement, or it may be OK I dont really know. Likewise, this socket may be a replacement done either at the factory or by someone else. However, I dont know if this is correct or not and I know nothing about this particular tube socket or any of the other tube sockets. Accordingly, I will leave all of the issues with all of the tube sockets and the tubes whether the tubes are good, whether the sockets are good, what sockets the tubes should be in, what the situation is regarding the above-listed socket, etc. Also, I have no idea if the wiring in the amplifier is correct or good and I dont know anything about the transformers used by the amplifier if they are correct, original, good, functional, etc. Regarding the electronic components used by the amplifier, I have provided an underside view of the amplifier in the photos which shows various components, parts, wires, etc. I have no idea if any work has been done on the amplifier in the past and if the components, parts, wires, etc. Are correct, original, appropriate and proper for this amplifier, if they are correctly wired/installed, etc. In summary, this amplifier is, in my view, really great-looking, clean, impressive, and has a very distinctive retro appearance. It is beautiful and one of the best-looking and cleanest versions of this amplifier that I have ever seen. I believe that it would make a wonderful addition to any vintage amplifier collection and a really fun item to own. I have not done anything to this amplifier and all of its parts, transformers, wires, electronic components, tubes, sockets, power cord/plug, capacitors, resistors, jacks, outlet, and all of its other components and I know nothing about their condition. The above-described amplifier may have been worked on, repaired, had parts replaced/repaired, had parts added/subtracted, and/or been modified by someone else in the past, but I dont know whether this is true or not. In this regard, I have done nothing to this amplifier and I have not inspected it (or any of its parts/components) internally or externally. However, I do not know how much work, parts, wires, wiring work/replacement, repairs, rewiring, upgrading, power transformer replacement/repair, output transformer replacement/repair, electronic components, power cord/plug replacement, additional parts, tubes, jacks, sockets, outlets, resistors, capacitors, plugs, etc. Likewise, the amplifier does not have a pilot light, tube shields, etc. Furthermore, no other items such as paperwork, instructions, schematics, boxes, cartons, or any other items are included with this amplifier. Likewise, it does not appear that there is any fuse in this amplifier it does not appear that there was ever one since there is no fuse-holder, etc. Although I dont know if this is correct or not and I cant tell if it currently has a fuse/fuse-holder or if it ever had one. I will leave any changes, modifications, repairs, inspections, assessments, tests, replacement of any parts, upgrades, corrections, rewiring, additions of any parts, subtractions of any parts, expansions, etc. This amplifier is quite heavy. While I will pack this item very securely, some of the wires, components, parts, capacitors, resistors, sockets, transformers, jacks, power cord/plug, name-plate, name-plate-holder, outlet, resistors, etc. Furthermore, the paper model number tag and the paper tube-diagram are very delicate (especially the tube-diagram) and may, in fact, partially or entirely come off, tear, rip, crumble, etc. However, I will do my best to try and prevent these situations by very carefully packing this amplifier although I cannot guarantee that they wont happen. Please make a note of this. Furthermore, all of the tubes, tube sockets, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, power cord/plug, sockets, outlet, and all of the amplifiers other components/parts need to be checked out by an electronic expert to see if the tubes are good, if the tubes are the correct ones, if the tubes are in the correct sockets, and if all of the tubes, tube sockets, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, power cord/plug, sockets, outlet, and all of the amplifiers other components/parts are good, correct, properly-wired, and operational before the amplifier is powered-up, tested, used, worked on, modified, connected to any other equipment, instruments, speakers, or components, connected to a power source/supply, plugged in, upgraded, etc. Likewise, I have no idea whether everything is original or not in the above-listed equipment and I therefore cannot make any warranties regarding originality. In this regard, I do not know if any of the parts, power transformer, output transformers, capacitors, resistors, jacks, sockets, outlet, and all of the other components used in the amplifier are original or if they have been replaced at some time in the past. I also do not warrant that this amplifier is complete and I do not know if there are any missing or incorrect parts/components, etc. The item “BEAUTIFUL AND RARE VINTAGE PACKARD BELL STEREO EL84 TUBE AMP AMPLIFIER” is in sale since Sunday, May 23, 2021. This item is in the category “Consumer Electronics\Vintage Electronics\Vintage Audio & Video\Vintage Amplifiers & Tube Amps”. The seller is “jaymalkin” and is located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THIS RARE VINTAGE TUBE AMPLIFIER IS PROVIDED AFTER THE PHOTOS. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE DESCRIPTION. It has a very distinctive retro and industrial look to it. Also, it is really attractive-looking and in very good cosmetic condition in my view. It was carefully wrapped up in cloth and stored in a box that I found down in the basement. I wasnt going to sell this amp since it is so cool-looking but I decided to sell it and let it go to a new home where someone can appreciate and enjoy it. DETAILED INFORMATION INVOLVING THE AMPLIFIER. As the photos show, this amp has a very interesting, unique, and distinctive look to it as mentioned above and it would make a wonderful addition to any vintage electronic collection. It also has a very unusual retro/industrial appearance and is in beautiful cosmetic condition in my opinion. Ive never seen another amp which looks quite like it. Check out all of the many photos of it that I have provided which show both the inside and outside of the amp. The amplifier is a Heathkit Stereo Tube Amplifier Model SA-2. It has a very distinctive front faceplate as the photos show. The graphics do show some wear for example, the SA-2 model no. Is faint, worn, etc. But, as a whole, they look fairly good in my opinion. Please check out the various photos which show the front faceplate and the graphics. There is also a nice-looking metal bronze-colored trim-piece on the front faceplate as shown in the photos which is in great condition in my view. The trim-piece also has a retro stylized HEATHKIT logo on it which looks very attractive as shown in the photos. The cabinet in is really nice cosmetic condition in my opinion. While the cabinet does have some nicks, scratches, scrapes, cuts, a bit of paint-residue, etc. On it (see the many photos of it that I have provided), it is again my opinion that it is in really nice condition and I believe that it would be difficult to find one that is better cosmetically. It looks like this amp did not get a lot of use, wear, etc. Based on its nice cosmetic condition although I dont know for sure if this is the case or not since I dont really know anything about the history of this amp. However, I think that it is one of the most stylish and unique-looking amps that I have ever seen! The amplifier chassis is shown in detail in the photos. It looks really nice in my view and has a nice shine to it. It is also very clean, too. While the chassis has some scratches, scrapes, dents, scuffs, residue, bends, discoloration, dirt, etc. On it, the chassis looks very good in my opinion as shown in the photos. There appears to be a few pieces of black tape on the rear of the chassis. I don’t what these are and how easily they are removed (if desired). However, the chassis used by this amplifier is one of the cleanest and shiniest that I have seen and really looks nice in my opinion. Regarding the knobs, they are all present and appear to be original based on what Ive seen on the Internet. The knobs are very cool and distinctive-looking. They have some wear on them, but in my view, they really look nice with their shiny brass metal inserts and give the entire amp a very unique and distinctive look unlike any other amp that Ive ever come across. I have provided a number of photos of the amplifier chassis. This amp has not been tested and I have no idea as to the condition of the tubes, electronic components, wires, transformers, switches, controls, fuse, fuse-holder, and the other components, parts, etc. Associated with this amp. In addition, I do not know if all of the parts, components, and elements associated with this amp are original or not. I likewise have no idea whether anything is missing from the amp and its various electronic components, controls, switches, transformers, etc. I also have no idea if this amp has ever been worked on, serviced, and/or repaired or not. I have not inspected or done anything to any of the components, parts, switches, controls, sockets, tubes, transformers, etc. Inside and outside of this amp and I know nothing about their condition. Furthermore, it should be assumed that this amplifier is not working and that it will need service, repair, parts, components, tubes, or a combination of these items. Please make a note of this. However, the amp has a very good cosmetic appearance in my view and check out all of the photos of the amplifier which show it from various angles. The amplifier has a bottom plate which is shown in the photos. The bottom plate is nice, clean, and shiny. While it has a number of scratches, scrapes, dings, dents, bends, scuffs, dirt, discoloration, etc. From age, use, etc. It looks very good in my view. The bottom plate is held in position using a number of screws as shown in the photos and I do not know if the screws are original or not or if they are correct for this amplifier. The bottom plate has a number of slots, openings, etc. On it and, in addition, an open area which exposes a number of jacks, etc. Likewise, there are some paper labels attached to the bottom plate adjacent these jacks and various other controls which evidently provides some kind of identifying information regarding these items. I do not know what this identifying information involves and if, in fact, it involves identifying information regarding the jacks, controls, etc. The paper labels discussed above do have some worn areas, rough spots, discoloration, etc. On them but they are mostly readable and look nice as the photos show. Likewise, there are 4 plastic feet attached to the bottom plate using screws. These feet do not appear to be original although I do not know if they are original or not. The feet are in decent condition in my opinion although they do have a number of scuffs, scratches, scrapes, discoloration, etc. On them from use and age. Regarding all of the jacks/controls on the bottom of the amplifier as well as the controls on the front of the amplifier, the other controls which are used by the amplifier, and all of the amplifiers other components, parts, and elements, I have no idea if they are original, complete, operational, functional, properly wired/installed, or correct for this amplifier and, accordingly, I will again leave an assessment of all of these items and the amplifier as a whole, as well as its tubes, fuse, fuse-holder, etc. Furthermore, there are a number of screws on the bottom of the amp which hold the cabinet in position. I dont know if these screws are original or not, if they are correct for this amplifier, etc. They also might be a bit difficult to remove. At the rear of the amp, there are a number of components including a pair of outlets, two large terminal strips with multiple screw-terminals thereon, some kind of a wire extending outward from the amplifier chassis and connected to one of the screw terminals, a slide switch, and a fuse holder. I have no idea whether these outlets are good, correct for this amp, functional, operational, wired correctly, etc. I also do not know what they are supposed to do. I will therefore leave an assessment of these outlets as well as all of the amplifiers other parts, components, tubes, wires, transformers, controls, switches, jacks, power cord/plug, tubes, fuse, fuse-holder, etc. I did notice that at least some of the screws on the terminal strips have what appears to be some colored marking-pen ink on them. I don’t know anything about this. Regarding the power cord/plug, I dont know if it is original or not, if it is good or not, if it is wired correctly or not, and if it is the correct and appropriate one for this amp. Regarding the tubes which are included with this amp (and were in it when I bought it), they are as follows: (A) 6BQ5 (USA); (B) 6BQ5 (USA); (C) 6BQ5 (USA); (D) 6BQ5 (USA); (E) 6AN8A GT. BRITAIN; (F) 6AN8A GT. BRITAIN; (G) 6AU6A (USA); (H) 6AU6 (USA); (I) ECC83/12AX7 GT. BRITAIN; (J) ECC83/12AX7 GT. BRITAIN; and (K) a larger tube which has no tube-number on it (made in GREAT BRITAIN). However, I noticed some codes etched in the glass as follows: f 3 1 and B 9 E. From what Ive read on the Internet, these codes indicate that the tube is a GZ34 possibly made by Mullard. Nonetheless, I do not know if this information is correct or not and if I have read the codes correctly or not since they are very hard to see. Accordingly, I cannot make any guarantees regarding this tube and whether it is correct or not for this amplifier and whether it is good or not. Likewise, regarding all of the above-listed tubes, I do not know if they are good or not, if they are correct for this amplifier, if they are in the correct sockets, etc. And I have not tested them. Likewise, the graphics are smudged/missing/faint on the tubes to varying degrees. As stated above, I also dont know if these tubes are the correct ones for this amp, if they are original or not, and if they are in the correct sockets. Also, I did not check the tube sockets and I likewise cannot warrant or guarantee that they are good, original, functional, fully-intact, and operational. Likewise, I did not inspect or test the fuse and fuse holder which are used by this amplifier. In this regard, I dont know if the fuse holder is functional, original, and wired correctly, and I likewise do not know if the fuse is the correct one for this amplifier and if the fuse is good or not. I also did not inspect this amplifier for damage, missing parts, broken parts, replaced parts, incorrect parts, etc. And I likewise did not inspect any of the other internal or external controls, parts, wires, resistors, transformers, capacitors, switches, jacks, outlets, power cord/plug, fuse, fuse holder, terminals, or any of the other components associated with this amp and I will likewise leave any assessment of these items and everything else associated with this amp and its tubes, parts, components, fuse, controls, etc. Regarding the various controls used by this amplifier, I did not operate them, I did not test them, and I know nothing about their condition. In addition, the amp includes 2 metal tube-shields which are positioned over the 12AX7 tubes. I dont know if these tube shields are original, correct for this amplifier, placed on the correct tubes or not, etc. The tube-shields look decent in my view although they do have some wear, scratches, discoloration, etc. On them, most likely from age, use, etc. Furthermore, this amp includes a very cool-looking red-colored indicator light on the front of the amp which is shown in the photos. I have not tested this indicator light and I dont know whether it is good or not or if it is correct for this amplifier or not. I also dont know if it is original or not. The amplifier chassis has a main power transformer and 2 output transformers. I do not know anything about these transformers, if they are good or not, if they are original or not, and if they are wired correctly or not. These transformers can be seen in the various photos of the chassis that I have provided. These seems to be some kind of residue on top of one of the output transformers. It may have come this way from the factory, but I dont know whether or not this is the case. I also dont know if any or all of the transformers are original or not, if they have been replaced at some time in the past, etc. And if they are operational/functional. As previously noted, I have provided various views of the amplifier chassis in the photos. I have no idea if the wiring in the amp is correct or good and I dont know anything about any of the electronic components capacitors, resistors, outlets, controls, switches, tubes, wires, power cord/plug, transformers, jacks, fuse holder, terminal strips, fuse, etc. Associated with the amp. Specifically, I dont know whether or not these components and all of the other components/parts/elements associated with the amp are good, correct, original, functional, properly-wired, operational, etc. And I also dont know whether or not there are any missing, replaced, and/or incomplete components and parts. In addition, I dont know anything about the condition of the resistors, capacitors, wires, transformers, tubes, controls, fuse holder, fuse, switches, jacks, outlets, power cord/plug, wires, terminal strips, etc. And whether or not they are original, functional, correct for this amp, etc. Likewise, it should also be noted that Heathkit products were designed to be assembled by their purchasers and, in this regard, I cannot provide any representations, guarantees, warranties, or conclusions concerning the assembly of this amp and whether or not it was assembled properly and put together in accordance with Heathkits instructional materials. Accordingly, I did not conduct an in-depth or detailed inspection of this amp for damage, missing parts, broken parts, incorrect parts, incomplete parts, improperly assembled parts and circuitry, repaired parts, etc. Likewise, I would encourage a detailed overview of the many photos of this amp inside and out that I have provided since these photos should be considered to be an important and integral part of the current description of this amp. Furthermore, there may be various issues, damages, missing parts, incorrect parts, incomplete parts, inoperative parts, improperly assembled parts and circuitry, repaired parts, replaced parts, etc. In conclusion, this is an unusual and unique amp with a very interesting retro appearance. It looks like it is in great cosmetic condition and is really a beautiful amp in my view. Accordingly, it would make a great addition to any vintage electronic collection. Are original or not and whether the amplifier is complete. I have not done anything to this amp and all of its parts, transformers, wires, electronic components, tubes, sockets, fuse, fuse holder, capacitors, resistors, jacks, switches, controls, wires, power cord/plug, outlets, indicator light and all of its other components and I know nothing about their condition. The above-described amp may have been worked on, repaired, and/or modified by someone else in the past, but I dont know whether this is true or not. In this regard, I have done nothing to this amp and I have not inspected it internally or externally and have not tested it or any of its parts, tubes, indicator light, fuse, fuse holder, controls, switches, jacks, outlets, power cord/plug, outlets, transformers, etc. No other items such as boxes, cartons, paperwork, manuals, literature, carrying cases, accessories, or anything else are included. However, I do not know how much work, parts, wires, wiring work/replacement, repairs, rewiring, transformers, electronic components, power cord/plug, controls, switches, tubes, jacks, fuse, fuse holder, sockets, resistors, capacitors, outlets, indicator light, or other components/parts, etc. This amp is heavy (it weighs approximately 25 pounds packed). This amp has been very carefully packed/wrapped and is double-boxed. While I will pack this amp very securely, some of the wires, components, parts, capacitors, resistors, sockets, transformers, jacks, indicator light, fuse, fuse holder, sockets, controls, knobs, switches, screws, faceplate, trim-piece on the faceplate, Heathkit logo, power cord/plug, and other parts/components etc. However, I have done my best to try and prevent these situations by very carefully packing and double-boxing this amp although I cannot guarantee that they wont happen. Furthermore, all of the tubes, sockets, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, switches, power cord/plug, indicator light, controls, outlets, fuse, fuse holder, and all of the amps other components/parts need to be checked out by an electronic expert to see if the tubes are good, if the tubes are the correct ones for this amp, if the tubes are in the correct sockets, if the fuse is good, if the fuse is the correct one for this amplifier, if the fuse holder is good/correct, and if all of the tubes, capacitors, resistors, jacks, transformers, sockets, power cord/plug, wiring, indicator light, outlets, switches, controls, and all of the amps other components/parts are good, functional, correct for this amp, and operational. This needs to be done before the amp is powered-up, tested, used, worked on, connected to any other equipment, instruments, or components, connected to a power source/supply, handled, repaired, modified, upgraded, etc. Likewise, I have no idea whether everything is original or not in the above-listed equipment and I therefore cannot make any warranties regarding originality. I also do not warrant that this amp is complete and I do not know if there are any missing, damaged, incomplete, previously repaired/replaced parts, malfunctioning or incorrect parts, components, tubes, fuse, fuse-holder, etc. The item “BEAUTIFUL RARE VINTAGE HEATHKIT SA-2 QUAD EL84 STEREO TUBE AMP AMPLIFIER” is in sale since Sunday, January 3, 2021. Beautiful Vintage Sherwood S-5500 IV Tube Amplifier Complete Looks/Works Great

Up for sale here is this vintage Sherwood S-5500 IV tube amplifier. This is in extremely nice condition, with very little wear. Just look at those nice clean RCA jacks! The face does have a bit of wear, and the knobs are a little dirty–I didn’t want to clean them and risk damaging them. The cover is in really nice shape too. This is complete, with all the tubes. The 7868s look like RCAs to me. I think the 12AX7s are all newer Russian tubes, except one, which is a 5751 for some reason, Sylvania I believe. This was partially restored by a previous owner, who swapped some coupling caps but doesn’t appear to have done any other circuit changes. I do not know if this was biased. While I was looking at it, I noticed that the big 750 ohm 7W power resistor was badly heated and was cracked, so I replaced it with a 680 ohm 10W resistor, which was the closest one I could find. I also reflowed the solder joints that hold the 7868s’ shield down–they had both cracked. This is tested and plays well and sounds good. It has a tiny bit of background noise when you turn the volume up ALL the way, but otherwise is nice and quiet, with no hums or buzzes. The can caps stay nice and cool, though obviously the back of the amp gets really hot from the output tubes. The tubes are untested but since this works I would assume they’re fine. This is currently working well and sounds good, but I would STRONGLY recommend that you fully recap/restore this before regular use. Once restored, this will be an incredible amplifier. Please see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask. I have a number of other tube items, collectibles, and vintage electronics listed–feel free to take a look!
