The two non-interacting 35 watt channels provide adequate power, in a stereophonic or two channel system, for loudspeakers of any level of efficiency. The channels can be paralleled for a full 70 watts of low distortion output, suitable for practically any monophonic use even where several loudspeakers are in use in different areas. The high power capability and low internal impedance provide excellent damping for all types of high quality speaker systems without need to make adjustments to match specific speaker installations. The design features of your Dynakit which contribute to its superior listening quality include some which are not revealed by the customary steady-state laboratory measurements. For example, it does not exhibit bounce and flutter when pulsed with a transient signal. Thus a sharp percussive signal like a drum beat or a piano note will be reproduced with sharpness and clarity and neither overhang nor muddiness. Tested, Serviced and upgraded. It has been kept as stock as possible, with only the parts needed to perform its best being changed. Comes with Brand new Matched Quad of TAD EL34-STR REDBASE Power Tubes. Comes with two Speaker cables, Canare 4S11 with small audioquest spades on one end and Banana plugs on the other. This is a pretty well cared for ST-70 that has been serviced multiple times over the years, including just recently and sounds very nice. In addition to the TAD EL34′s it Includes 4 rather old. Other tubes include 2 GE 7199′s. Rectifier has been rewired out of circuit and replaced by solid state rectification, although the tube remains in the socket for looks and receives heater voltage to light it up. All capacitors have been updated. Coupling capacitors and others were replaced with high quality polypropylene film caps for the best sound quality possible. All filter caps have been replaced. Checked and replaced as needed. The chrome has some small pitting and small rust spots but it’s in very good shape compared to most ST-70′s. Quite a lot of solder joints were redone to keep it as trouble free as possible. Cage is in very nice shape. Dynaco ST-70 with Van Alstine “Ultimate 70″ mods. This is a legendary amplifier and a piece of audio history that’s been modernized by Frank Van Alstine. The mono/stereo switch has been removed, input and speaker jacks have been rewired and replaced, and a heavily upgraded circuit board has been installed. Current output tubes are Psvane EL34B; Cosmetics are 8/10 due to some rubbed off lettering on the chassis. I live in suburban Portland, Oregon. Problems are few, and I’m very pro-active about solving any that might crop up. Please examine the pictures carefully. They are part of the description. This is NOT a new component. For sale is a vintage. Dynaco SCA-35 Tube Integrated Amplifier with Phono Stage. All tubes are vintage tubes; some of them are Dynaco. All tubes are included. Dynaco SCA-35 share the same transformers with the highly coveted Dynaco ST-35 power amp. As shown, the transformers are huge. This amp works and both channels produce good music. Some of the control can get cracking noise in the output. I think that’s because of the poor and aged electric contacts on this amp. The Treble control can turn forever without a limit. Power indicator lamp is out. All these need service. The amp is a good candidate for restoration. The amp appears to be all original; no mods. Physical condition is good, although there is rust in areas. Front plate does have scratches, markings, etc. All knobs are original. Bottom plate is present with feet. This amplifier is a hot rodded version of the famous Dynaco ST-70 stereo tube amplifier. The modification kit was provided by and is referred to as the ST-120. This kit features larger power and output transformers which enables the amp to handle larger output tubes. This amp is currently fitted with KT-90 type tubes but can also run 6550′s and others. It has two top panel mounted switches that allow it to be toggled between Triode and Ultralinear modes. Triode operation yields about 40W per channel while Ultralinear delivers close to 60W per channel. The kit builder converted the front panel stereo / mono control to a 4 ohm / 8 ohm switch. Vintage Dynaco ST-70 Dynakit Stereo 70 Tube Power Amplifier It is untested – NO TUBES. THE TUBES ARE NOT INCLUDED.. I bought this to use myself but have since bought a pair of mkiv. And then they stopped working. There is a burnt out resistor and another one that is cracked. I bought the resistor to replace it but never got round to it. I understand a lot was done by way of modifications including the meters and the individual test points for each tube and adjustments. It’s a beautiful amp and I’m sure it will give the new owner good sound once fixed up. I’m including the new and old resistors and also the old driver board. This pair of amplifiers is labeled “Dynaco Wired”, however they have underwent a significant modification at some point in the past. The majority of the electrolytic capacitors were replaced, film bypass capacitors were added to the various power supply rails, and slow start relay circuits were added to delay the B+ voltages. Other modifications may have been performed that we are unaware of that sharp Dynaco aficionados may recognize. Both amplifiers were tested to their rated power of 120W. Both meter lamps and meters are working properly. Tubes include RCA 7199, and a mix Sylvania and Philips USA 8417. Please see our pictures for overall condition. The Mark VI is a vacuum tube high power basic power amplifier designed for the professional sound installer. Vacuum tubes are most often favored in their ability to withstand enormous physical and electrical abuse – conditions frequently encountered in discotheques, public address and musical instrument applications. Its rugged construction and utilization of superior components, including the patented Dynaco Super Fidelity transformers, permit continuous duty at full power, while maintaining safe operating margins. Protective isolation of the load from the driving circuits, and uniform power output into a variety of load impedances are inherent in all designs which use an impedance matching transformer. The Mark VI employs a basic circuit arrangement which all Dynaco vacuum tube amplifiers have used since the inception of the Mark II amplifier in 1955. Refinements of the operating parameters have been incorporated for circuit balance, stability, and for drive capability. The components used have been selected to protect against failure, and all parts are operated conservatively to assure superior performance and proper operation for many years. The SkyFi Testing Process for Tube Amplifiers. We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and tubes are inspected for signs of stress overheating or cracking. We then power up the unit carefully and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise. Finally we run the amplifier to its full rated power into the appropriate resistive load provided by our Sencore amplifier tester. If there is an issue, it will usually be noticeable at this point. If it all looks clean we will often test for THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) measured by our Keithley distortion meter, and compare it against the original manufacturers specifications. The amplifier the remains powered on to “burn in” on our test bench for a few hours to make sure there are no heat related issues. If there are balanced inputs available they will also be tested. We also test all tubes for output gain and leakage on our calibrated modern and professional tube tester against the original manufacturers specifications. If needed, the tubes will be replaced from our vast NOS (New Old Stock) vintage or modern inventory. Final testing involves pushing actual music thorough the amplifier. We’ve learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we’re very familiar with which quickly reveal any discrepancies.
