1950 Magnatone Troubadour M-192-5-S Vintage Tube Amp with Jensen P12R Speaker

Up for sale, a 1950 Magnatone Troubadour model M-192-5-S in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Produced early in the Magna Electronics era of production (generally considered to be the pinnacle of vintage Magnatone quality and design), this 1×12 tube amp is extremely original and has been thoroughly gone over by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. With two channels and a preamp driven by octal tubes, the amp has a complex, sweet, and harmonically rich tone that sounds very natural and dynamic. The amp lets the voice of your guitar’s pickups shine through and has a distinctly different response with every guitar that’s put in front of it. Single coils can sound jangly and clear, while P-90s and humuckers can easily push the circuit into rich overdrive. The circuit retains original Triad transformers, very similar to what one would find in a similar tweed Fender Deluxe, and the amp has been freshly recapped as necessary, while retaining original pots and most of the original signal caps and resistors in the preamp. The faceplate is remarkably clean with all of the original graphics as well as the trio of chicken head knobs. The amp is stocked with a complete compliment of vintage tubes including a 5Y3 rectifier and matched RCA 6V6 power tubes. The Jensen P12R speaker is original and extremely valuable in its own right, with a clean deep green frame, foil sticker on the alnico magnet, and clean date code from 1950. The polished black pearloid material and original grillcloth are in remarkable shape, and the amp even retains the fragile waterslide decal “Magnatone” logo on the amp’s face. There is some chipping of the pearloid on the left side of the cabinet as well as some scuffing and wear on the bottom of the cab and back edges. This amp is one of the earliest Magnatone’s we’ve ever had through the shop and will satisfy discerning collectors and studio players alike with its original Triad transformers, Jensen speaker, and vintage tube set. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. International orders will be declared as merchandise, and the value of merchandise will be declared as the amount paid. We cannot declare anything as a gift or for a lesser value. The item “1950 Magnatone Troubadour M-192-5-S Vintage Tube Amp with Jensen P12R Speaker” is in sale since Monday, June 4, 2018. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Guitars & Basses\Guitar Amplifiers”. The seller is “mmguitarbar” and is located in Seattle, Washington. This item can be shipped worldwide.

Up for sale, a 1957 Magnatone Custom 213 Troubadour in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A first year example of the Troubadour model, this Custom 213 is fresh back from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with a clean bill of health. One of the cooler and less common mid-size Magna Electric-era Magnatone amps, the 213 boasts a single 12 alnico Oxford speaker and is powered by a matched pair of 6V6s, delivering 18 all tube watts. Whether you’re looking for the perfect surfy hollow twang or surprisingly thick overdrive, this Magnatone easily supplies a range of classic tube driven textures. Of course one of the main draws of any Magnatone is the true pitch vibrato, and with a width and warble unequalled in tube amp design, this vibrato circuit is in a word lush. The circuit is virtually untouched, boasting original Schumacher transformers and all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps. All of the original CTS pots are present as well, with dates from the latter half of 1957. Other date codes of note include the original Oxford 12K5 speaker which dates to the 51st week of 1957 and retains its original Magnatone foil sticker on the magnet bell. The faceplate is quite clean and complete with era correct Dakaware knobs. The original smooth brown leatherette covering is in remarkable shape, with some expected light wear around the edges and at the corners, but nothing untoward for a 60+ year old amp. The wheat grillcloth is similarly well kept, and the original Magnatone logo is present too. The back panel on the cab is not present. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1963 Magnatone Custom M6 Vintage Tube Amp 1x12 with True Pitch Vibrato, Estey

Up for sale, a 1963 Magnatone Custom M6 in excellent condition and in good working order. This Magnatone/Estey amp was produced only from mid 1963-64, and features the quintessential Magnatone sound and true pitch vibrato. This two channel amp delivers a dynamic and warm clean tone that quickly saturates into smooth tube overdrive as you turn up the volume dial. The varistor vibrato is the same design used in earlier top-tier Magnatone models and it has a dimension and depth that no other vibrato can match! Rated at roughly 25 watts with a pair of vintage Sylvania 7189 power tubes, this amp is voiced through a single Oxford 12 speaker. This M6 is a particularly clean example, with the short-lived yet very sturdy wood reinforced plastic cabinet. The steel chassis for the preamp is connected to the overbuilt amp handle, and the preamp is very tech friendly, point-to-point wired and accessible by removing only two bolts on either side of the chassis. Featuring original gold sparkle grillcloth and gold accents, the M6 is a real looker with a Magnatone “M” that lights up on the top of the amp when in operation. The circuit is very original, with stock CTS pots that date to late’61, the original blue molded Ajax tone caps and untouched solder joints. The transformers are original as well. The amp features a nice selection of vintage preamp tubes along with a matched pair of Sylvania 7189 power tubes (same pin out and similar tonal characteristics to an EL84, but able to generate higher plate voltages). The alnico Oxford 12K5 speaker is original, sound great, and dates to the 38th week of 1963. Cosmetically, this Magnatone is very clean. The faceplate shows some light wear and the gold caps on the knobs are missing, although all of the original knobs are intact. There is also a tiny amount of surface rust in a couple spots on the faceplate and a few scuffs on the cab, but as the photos show, there is no serious or structural wear of any kind. This amp has been well cared for over the past 50+ years. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely. 1960 Magnatone Custom 280 Vintage 2x12 Tube Amp Stereo Vibrato, Magna Pre-Estey

Up for sale, a 1960 Magnatone Custom 280, honestly played and in perfect working order. The 280 was the top of the line 200 series amplifier developed my Magna Electronics in the “Pre-Estey” days of the company, and this amp is often considered the pinnacle of golden era Magnatone design and tone. Both Buddy Holly and Neil Young are notable users of the Magnatone 280, and the rich overdrive and stereo vibrato are unlike anything you’ve ever heard on another tube amp. Complete with a mostly original tube set, this amp is powered by a quad of RCA 6973 power tubes which push a pair of stock Oxford 12L6 alnico speakers and a pair of 3 tweeters as well! This amp is a rare “Noble” branded variant, and the Noble brand typically is seen on smaller, budget Magnatone models, making its logo on a Custom 280 a rarity. Featuring two channels, point-to-point circuitry, and dual output transformers for true stereo operation, the Magnatone 280 was ahead of its time and an amp that cost a good 20% more in its day than the most expensive Fenders! The circuit is extremely original, and the power amp has been very cleanly recapped, retaining the large can caps on the outside of the chassis and a small, new board inside the chassis to mount individual, high quality F&T caps. The amp retains all of the original Ajax blue molded tone caps that are essential to the tonal sweetness of the amp and also the range of the EQ controls. The original output transformers are a matched pair that date to the 37th week of 1960, the power transformer dates to the 26th week of the same year, and the stock CTS pots date to the 31st week of 1960. Of course the hallmark of any Magnatone amp is its true stereo vibrato, and this amp delivers the classic effect with a depth and width that’s hard to believe. The pulse and warble of the vibrato is vibrant and lush, operating either in mono or stereo, bouncing between the two Oxford speakers. The 3 tweeters also do a great deal to accentuate the top end swirl of the vibrato, and these speakers were only available in the very last 280 amps. The Oxford 12L5N-1 speakers both have white/silver frames with clean 1960 date codes and original speaker cones. The small “Magnatone – High Fidelity” stickers are also intact on the horseshoe alnico magnets as well. The faceplate of the amp is surprisingly clean, given how lightly these were originally screen printed, and all of the text and graphics are present. The cream knobs are modern replacements. Cosmetically, the cab shows plenty of wear from honest use, given the fragile brown leatherette (in actuality book bindery cloth) used to cover the cabinets and the squarish shape of the cabinet edges which were more susceptible to nicks and dings. Structurally, the amp is in great shape, and the clean condition of the faceplate and control panel as well as the top notch servicing this amp has received speak to the fact that this Magnatone was well loved. Don’t miss out on this rare and complete Magnatone 280 with vintage 6973 power tubes and a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. The original wooden “doorstop” footswitch for engaging the vibrato is included. We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely. International orders will be declared as merchandise, and the value of merchandise will be declared as the amount paid. We cannot declare anything as a gift or for a lesser value. MAGNATONE (TONEMASTER) CUSTOM 260. Rebadged Magnatone 260 for sale serviced and working well – with the famous pitch vibrato that makes these amps so special – nothing else sounds quite like a Magnatone. The cosmetic condition of this amp is scruffy but original. It had been badly recovered in a “pleather” type material – fortunately they’d only stapled the new covering on so it came off without drama. It’s missing some of the original brown finish, but this is one for the player rather than collector. There are scuffs and scrapes to the finish and areas where it’s down to bare wood. The internal parts are original where it counts, but it has a new power transformer so is running at 240v. One of the original Oxford speakers has had some repair work and is working well (see photo). Not the prettiest example inside or out, but sonically it’s all there. These amps are noted for their unique vibrato and warm break up: famously used by Buddy Holly, Ry Cooder and Robert Cray amongst others. At the time they were made they outstripped pretty much everything on the market with fantastic tone, clarity and power, with great control and of course the fabulous pitch vibrato. It’s working well – there is some thump from the vibrato at deeper settings. Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, Neil Young. Dave Gilmour, Lonnie Mack, Ry Cooder, Robert Cray, Jamie Hince, Mark Ronson and Richard Hawley all use Magnatone amps… And not to mention Leo Fender found plenty of inspiration here as well. THE PRICE INCLUDES 20% VAT – CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN UNION PLEASE USE. See below for more about who we are & what we do. Your list is one of the best, it really is.
