Up for sale, a 1958 Fender Super, complete with its original tweed and a pair of Jensen P10R alnico 10 speakers. One of the most rare, sought after, and collectable Fender Tweed amps ever produced (with good reason), the Tweed Super is the baby brother of the Bassman in many respects, offering the same harmonic rich, dynamic tones in a more studio friendly and portable enclosure. The low end is wooly and thick, the midrange has just the right amount of punch, and the top end is classic’50s Fender with detail and balance that few other amps can match. Clear and present, with incredible low end response even at low volumes, the Super allows you to easily dial in the right amount of bite and a touch of overdrive when you dig in. After around 6-7 on the volume dial, the amp cascades into full tube saturation, with sweet, singing overdrive. Thoroughly maintained, this Fender Super sounds every bit as good as vintage amp lore would suggest, and the original, aged tweed definitely looks the part too! The circuit has just been gone through by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, and the preamp boasts a couple original yellow Astron tone caps as well as a few blue Ajax caps (typically seen in Brownface/Blackface era Fenders). The amp has been fully recapped and the pots are a mix of mid-60s CTS and original Stackpole pots dating to 1957. The power transformer is a modern replacement, while the output transformer is a genuine open bell, black frame Schumacher transformer that dates to 1958. While not original to this amp, this transformer is as virtually identical in every way and sounds like a genuine vintage component should. On the faceplate, the stock chicken head knobs are intact and a modest amount of the original white lettering is present as well. The faceplate does show wear and pitting, although it’s been shined up and looks presentable. The amp is fitted with a pair of modern Jensen P10R green frame speakers with proper bell covers, and these are soldered to the original wiring harness. The stock tube chart is present and quite clean, denoting the 5F4 circuit and also still featuring a lightly stamped “HC” date code which translates to March of 1958. The original lacquered tweed is intact and oh, if this amp could talk! A undisputed road warrior, this tweed is worn and ambered, but remarkably still present. The clean, original “Fender Super” badge is present on the face of the amp and the amp is fitted with a genuine’50s Fender leather handle. Comparable only to the Bassman in terms of Fender’s tweed dual 6L6 offerings, the Super is a standout favorite among collectors and players alike! Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely. Here are some specs…. This Gibson Hawk is in very good shape, Needs TLC. Included is the original foot-switch to control the effects. In addition there is also a Monitor output jack, and the power switch has 2 positions for polarity change. This amp features the later 2×10 speaker configuration and the later 7591 output tubes. Everything else appears original. These 25 watt “Hawks” have a nice clean tone until you push the front end, then it gets “grittier”. The preamp section is very mild mannered. So the amp doesn’t start to open up until about 7-8. But it will happily take anything that your favorite boost or overdrive or compression pedal will give it. This will give the front end any additional drive you may want. The accordion input is a bit hotter than guitar input. Channel one is working great. Channel 2 needs trem pot, reverb and tremelo serviced or play as it is.. You don’t see them very frequently, and they have a genuine “cool factor”. The item “Vintage 1965 Gibson Hawk GA-25 RVT 2×10 7591 Tube Guitar Amp Needs TLC” is in sale since Tuesday, August 29, 2017. 1965 Harmony 430 Vintage Tube Amp Valco USA 6162 Tremolo-Reverb 2x10 Jensen C10R

Up for sale, a 1965 Harmony 430 tube amplifier in excellent condition and in good working order. Like many Harmony amps of this era, this amp was produced by Valco in the USA, parent company of Supro, National, Airline, and others and is also known as the 6162 Reverb-Tremolo. ” This Harmony has a pair of Jensen 10″ speakers that accentuate everything we love about vintage Valco preamps, with a color and tone stack that is unique in the vintage amp world. Nothing has the full, harmonic rich overdriven qualities of a vintage Valco amp and the 430 is one of the most revered circuits, with the quintessential Led Zeppelin tone. It’s the sound of a stack in an open back 2×10 enclosure that has enough depth to really add some low end heft to the tone! The tremolo also has a very strong chop to it and the reverb (from the tiny two spring tank housed in the original cardboard box) has a lo-fi, surfy quality that is ideal for’60s garage and psych tunes. The circuit is very original, with the stock output transformer, a newer Hammond power transformer and a recap of the main power supply to assure that everything is operating within original factory spec. An example of true point-to-point wiring, the amp has mostly untouched solder joints and CTS pots that date to’65. Tube rectified and pushing roughly 15-20 watts, the amp boasts a pair of 6973 power tubes. A modern three-prong power cable has also been installed. The speakers are a matched pair of Jensen C10R ceramic drivers with clean black frames and 1965 date codes on the edges of the frames. Cosmetically, this amp is in great shape and the black silkscreening on the control panel is vibrant and intact. The original tolex has a subtle black ostrich pattern and the grillcloth shows modest aging, with a shiny chrome faceplate. There are some modest scuffs and light wear around the corners of the enclosure, but overall this 430 is a rare, versatile, and exceptional sounding amp that looks great and has been recently serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar.
