The fine item you are considering is a Vintage Alamo 2×10 Combo Tube Guitar Amplifier Amp. This cool vintage Alamo tube amp sports a pair of 6V6s for power tubes, and two original 10 speakers. The amp is basically working but it has some issues, these being that while the normal channel works perfectly and sounds fantastic at higher volumes (great break up and very spanky) the Vibrato channel looks to have what I think is a bad pot, which is very crackly (loud crackles when turned) and isnt allowing the volume to be as loud as it should be. Also, it doesnt appear that the vibrato effect is functioning. One of the paper cones on one speaker is torn, but I cant hear it effecting the sound, and otherwise the amp shows typical wear from age and use, but makes a great vintage appearance. Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Super in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Brownface Pre-CBS tube amp was produced late in’61 with a freshly serviced circuit and a pair of stock teal frame Jensen P10Q speakers with original cones. A direct descendant of the Tweed era Super amp, this early Brownface example sports the same transformers and speakers as its close predecessor, delivering hi-fi clarity and sparkling, robust clean tones. Turning the amp up past 5 on the volume dial yields thick, chewy overdrive with great touch-sensitive responsiveness and EQ controls that have an incredibly wide sweep. And of course this is the most compact Brownface-era amp to feature the “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit. A true pitch shifting vibrato (not the tremolo found on most Fender amps), the Harmonic Vibrato sound has a thick, Leslie-esque throb and warble, with a three-dimensional quality and depth that is perfectly suited to the speaker compliment and cabinet size. Whether you want a slow, undulating swampy sound or faster, pulsating vibrato, this Super delivers the goods. The circuit has just been thoroughly tested by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and almost all of the original blue Ajax capacitors in the preamp are intact. Aside from replacing the two bias caps as well as the smaller bypass caps with modern equivalents, the preamp is untouched. The original CTS pots are all intact too. The power amp has been recapped with new F&T caps to guarantee reliable, trouble-free use for years to come. While the output transformer is original and dates to’61, the power transformer is a genuine vintage Fender replacement from 1967. The speakers are the original pair of Jensen P10Qs. Both speakers have clean frames with only light speckles of rust, original bell covers, and clean Jensen labels. The original rough brown tolex is intact and the original baffle board has been professionally regrilled with oxblood grillcloth. As the photos show, the tolex and grill are particularly clean, and both back panels are modern factory-spec replacements. All hardware is stock and accounted for including the brown plastic “dogbone” handle, corners, sphinx glides (feet), and flat “Fender” logo on the amp’s face. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Tremolux in excellent condition and in good working order. This vintage Blackface Tremolux is from production run #2 as noted on the tube chart and has a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate indicative of the very first “Pre-CBS” Blackface amps. The circuit has been serviced and the amp boasts a pair of vintage 6L6GC power tubes. The tone is stunning and quintessential Blackface Fender, with the perfect amount of clean headroom before the amp gives in to slightly compressed tube overdrive around 5 on the volume dial. The vibrato has a strong pulse to it as well and each channel has a similar voicing, although the Normal channel has just a touch more low end and midrange punch. The circuit retains all of the original Schumacher (Fender’s transformer supplier in the Blackface era) output transformer and choke which date to mid’65. The power transformer is a vintage Schumacher replacement which has a Fender part number and dates to 1967. The preamp features a combination of original blue molded Ajax capacitors and modern, high quality Sprague Orange Drops. The power amp has been professionally recapped as well. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are a mixture of newer and vintage valves. The stock CTS pots and chassis stamp date to 1965. The tube chart is intact with only light wear and a clean “OI” date stamp, which translates to September of 1965. The speaker cab boasts a pair of vintage correct Oxford 10L6 ceramic speakers. These speakers have black frames, original blue Fender foil labels, and original cones. Cosmetically, the amp retains the original silver sparkle grillcloth and smooth black tolex. The head is particularly clean with a minty faceplate and stock knobs. The nickel hardware shows moderate patina, with the original pat. Pending tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars and chrome thumb screws. The grillcloth on both the head and cab are uniformly aged as well. The tolex shows some wear on the bottom front edge of the enclosure, along with some requisite light scuffs, but is overall in great shape. This is the Vintage 1980 Fender USA Vibrolux Reverb Electric Guitar Tube Amplifier. This is the Silverface model- final year of production- the pots, transformers, and chassis code date to 1980. The red plug is a giveaway for 1980 as well. The Vibrolux features the best of everything’Fender’- all tube design, warm tremolo, and true spring reverb. Dual 6L6′s, 4 12ax7′s, 2 12at7′s, and a 5u4. This brings you those infamous Fender cleans and’pushed’ tube tones at 40 watts. Plugging into this beauty and turning up you immediately get the tight bottom and sweet highs the Fender tube amps are known for. Turn up towards’5′ and you start to dial in the sweet pushed tube overdrive. Engage the Boost circuit (via front panel or footswitch) and come out front for leads. Set the reverb down at about’2′ and it adds nice depth to chords and great tails to leads, bring it up and you get that famous’tunnel’ sound. The tremolo here is warm and tight- beautiful. All of this great tube tone runs to the dual Fender Design 10 speakers. 10 are the perfect compliment to this amp- they retain the bottom end while allowing for great clarity.
