1964 Fender Concert Amp. Electric Guitar / Bass Amplifier Head. Comes with homemade denim cover. It had a badly damaged termite eaten wood cabinet that I felt was too far gone to refurbish, so I kept the amp on the side. Recently (Sept 2024) I took it to my current amp tech and he replaced the filter caps, power cord, lubricated the pots. Powered it for an hour and checked operation. He says it’s now in great shape and mentioned it’s a particularly good sounding amp with balanced power tubes and a perfectly set bias operation. What I decided to do a few years ago was use a leftover Bandmaster amplifier head cabinet for this amp because it fit it perfectly. What I wanted to do was re-create Leo Fender’s prototype piggy back head cabinet that he first began to develop in 1959. In the same year he began developing his new cabinet design for the entire amplifier line by moving the amplifier control panel to the top front of the cabinets for both the combo and piggy-back amplifier designs. The Fender Concert (model # 12) was the very first amplifier he designed with the control panel facing the front. Instead of using aircraft luggage linen (tweed), he used a rubber infused vinyl developed by General Tire called Tolex. For the grill cloth he used the acoustically invisible material called Saran developed by DuPont Chemical in 1955. This is the same tweed style grille cloth material he used throughout the entire amplifier line since 1955. I decided to recreate a replica of this prototype amp. I didn’t have the exact Tolex material but I used a close copy of Rough Chocolate Brown. I also used a re-issue Fender flat logo, all new hardware throughout with the exception of the piggy-back slide brackets, and a brown strap handle on the top. I read somewhere that Fender’s piggy-back prototype amplifier head was presented to the instrumental band, The Champs, (recorded the hit song “Tequila”) in 1960. Serial # A 05409. Tube Chart Stamp – Can’t Read. (26th week of 1964). Silver Stamp Inside Chassis. (45th week of 1964). (34th week of 1964). (36th week of 1964). Red number 16 stamp. It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these used amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. Our amp tech has only replaced the needed parts -(filter caps & power cords as specified) to just get them turned on and running for an hour. Please see a skilled amp tech before extended use. The operation of the amps requires that they be regularly serviced for optimal performance. Please remember these are vintage pieces, we cannot guarantee that they will not need service or more parts in their future; only some obvious parts were changed to get it working. Most of the parts are still the original old parts remaining which will be stated in our listings. We do not have any control on what was done by previous owners, but we try to write in detail any information we have. 1967 Fender Bandmaster Amp. Electric Guitar / Bass Amplifier Head. I bought this amp many decades ago and used it briefly before adding it to my collection. This is an unusually clean drip edge model. A former owner drilled 3 holes in the back of the chassis partially obscuring the last digit of the serial number. I taped plastic over the tube chart to preserve it but retained all the original hardware. I replaced the original silverface faceplate with a repro blackface faceplate because it was an early drip edge model with two 1967 transformer coded dates and the output transformer is a 1964. I took it to my current amp tech and he replaced the filter caps, powered it for an hour and checked operation. He says it’s now in great shape. Serial # A 2937 1? Last # is cut out. (48th week of 1967). (45th week of 1967). (26th week of 1964). It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these used amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. Electric Guitar Amplifier Head. This is the absolute cleanest all original Bandmaster that I own. I bought this in 1979 from my neighbor who is the original owner. He told me he played it for only a few days while trying to learn to play guitar. I added it right to my collection and never played it. Recently in August 2024, I took it to my amp tech who replaced the filter caps and checked out the general operation. It is all working and in great condition. All Original with cover. Serial # A 17175. Chassis Bottom Black Ink Stamp. (7th week of 1966). Cabinet Black Ink Stamp. (2nd week of 1966). (47th week of 1965). (4th week of 1966). Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Dual Showman Black Panel vintage tube amp head in exceptional condition, recently retubed and freshly serviced. Differentiating it from other Showman heads of the era, the “Dual” variant has an output transformer ideally wound for a 4ohm load (as opposed to 8ohms). Loaded with a fresh quad of properly biased JJ 6L6 power tubes, this Showman has a sound that is powerful, clear, and sparkling. As Fender’s flagship “piggyback” amp head of the Black Panel era, the Dual Showman delivers 85 watts of all-tube power via the AB763 circuit. The Dual Showman is a real powerhouse for guitar, bass, or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. The low end is ample, and the amp has plenty of headroom and efficient clean power until about 6-7 on the Volume knob, where the signal starts to compress and overdrive. Fresh back from our techs and ready for another half century, this Dual Showman is ready for stage and studio use. The circuit is very original, retaining all of the original transformers which date between late 1966 and the first weeks of’67. The preamp retains the majority original blue molded Ajax caps, central to the sweet, musical tone that’s a hallmark of the Black Panel sound. The preamp features a few new low noise metal film resistors, a couple new caps (high quality Mallory and Sprague replacements) and the majority of the original CTS pots, with visible date codes from’66. The power supply has been recapped with F&Ts. A new bias cap has been installed, along with a three-prong power cable. The tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet, with a “QD” date stamp that translates to April of 1967. This amp retains the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, both of which are notably well-kept. All of the hardware is intact, including the piggyback clip bars, handle, corners and raised metal Fender logo. The original faceplate also retains its stock complement of witch hat knobs.

1969 Fender Deluxe Reverb Drip Edge 1x12 Vintage Tube Guitar Amp AB763

Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Deluxe Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch. A transitional “drip edge” example with aluminum trim framing the grillcloth, this Deluxe Reverb has an identical AB763 circuit to its “Black Panel” forebears. Extremely original and freshly serviced to ensure optimal performance, the Deluxe Reverb has a sweet, balanced sound that delivers the top end sparkle and clarity characteristic of the best amps from Fender’s golden era. This amp is very responsive to player inputs, working as a perfect platform for effects pedals, and while the treble response can twang with the best, there’s a smoothness to the top end that keeps the amp from sounding harsh. Turning up past around 5 on the volume dial, the amp begins to push into overdrive territory with light compression and plenty of sizzle. The Reverb is lush with long decay, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three-dimensional quality to the effect when increasing the intensity. The circuit retains all of the original Schumacher-made transformers (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in this era), with date codes primarily from the first weeks of 1969, while the choke dates back to mid-1966. The preamp is completely original save for a couple smaller Sprague capacitors and a single resistor to ensure performance in-line with original factory specifications. The original CTS pots are intact, also with visible date codes from the 16th week of’66 and the 7th week of’69. The power supply has been professionally recapped with high quality F&T caps, and a three-prong cable has been installed too. Tubes comprise a fresh, properly-biased pair of JJ 6V6s, while the rectifier and full set of preamp tubes are all original RCA-made valves. The speaker is an era-correct Oxford 12T6 12 ceramic magnet driver with a clean black frame. The speaker is higher wattage than the stock driver, ensuring optimal headroom and bass response, dating to early 1970. The speaker is mounted to the original baffle, notable for being one of the very last screw-in baffles used by Fender before the glued-in baffles became the norm for the remainder of the Silverface run. The baffle is in great shape, and this earlier style is considered to be more resonant and also far easier to replace if the necessity were to arise. The original tube chart is intact inside the cabinet too, noting the AB763 circuit. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact, with only light aging of the grill and similarly restrained wear on the enclosure. The original faceplate has all of its turquoise text with just a speckling of patina, retaining a full complement of witch hat knobs. Hardware includes the original chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and raised Fender logo with tail. This vintage Deluxe Reverb works exactly as it should, sounds great, and is ready for another 55 years of use. The amp comes complete with the original black two-button footswitch to engage the Reverb and Vibrato effects.

1965 Fender Bandmaster / Showman. Electric Guitar / Bass Amplifier Head. This is what I call a Showmaster. It is essentially a Bandmaster thats been converted to a Showman amp, putting out approx. I got this amp head many decades ago and took it to my amp tech back then who removed all unnecessary modifications, changed the filter caps, the power cord and ran it for an hour. He put two plugs in the back of the chassis where the holes were from the pots, which cover the first letter of the serial number. He restored the circuit back to original model blackface circuitry but retained the Showman modification. I have not ran or played it since. It’s been often said by many that this is not a practical modification as it can overload the transformers and cause many problems. That is not necessarily true and especially in this case since both the output transformer and power transformer are the same ones used in Fender Dual Showman and Twin Reverb amplifiers. I recently, July 2024, took it to my current amp tech who checked the circuitry and ran the amplifier for an hour and found no problems. This amp should be working fine. The cabinet was pretty beat up when I got it so this was one of my first attempts back then of recovering. I re-tolexed the entire cabinet but not knowingly, I removed all the staples holding the screen on and re-stapled with silver staples. I taped plastic over the tube chart which was falling apart and saw enough of the date code so I wrote it in with black marker (OD). I also changed all of the hardware with the exception of the piggy-back slide brackets. This is why the amp looks so clean, I wanted it to match the exceptionally clean faceplate. Serial # A 10155. Production # something 3. Chassis Black Ink Stamp. Black Ink Stamp Underside. Cabinet Black Ink Stamp. (3rd week of 1963). (5th week of 1965). (26th week of 1964). It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these used amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. Our Amp tech has only replaced the needed parts (filter caps) to just get them working! The operation of the amps requires that they be regularly serviced for optimal performance. Please remember these are vintage pieces, we cannot guarantee that they will not need service or more parts in their future, only some obvious parts were changed to get it working, most are still the original old parts remaining. Vintage 1965 Fender Bandmaster Blackface AB763 Guitar Tube Amplifier Amp Head. This amp dates to early/mid 1965. The amp was fitted long ago with a 1964 Twin/Showman transformer to accommodate four power tubes to have the option for more power. Very much like a Showman now with a little more mid bite. The rest of the iron is all original dating to 1965. Operates as stock when using only two power tubes running at 40 watts. The feel is there and has all the great tone youd expect from a classic amp such as this. The tone stack on these blackface Bandmasters is such a killer tone and there is good reason why these are such classics. This particular amp is no exception. This one will make somebody very happy. No foot switch included unfortunately. Includes brand new set of JJ pre amp tubes and matched quad of Tung Sol 7591A tubes.
