For sale we have a vintage 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Amp, a true American classic from the Blackface era. This amp came to us from it’s second, long term owner, and has seen good ownership and maintenance, including a current amp tech go through, as hired by us, from Bob Garufy, a local tech of note. This amp currently sounds fantastic, works great, and has a clean bill of health. Please read the entire listing. All things considered, for a 53 year old amp that has seen use, this amp is in very good condition. When this amp came to us, it had had its Reverb Driver replaced in 2004 with a Marvel brand driver. All remaining transformers are original and date to late 1965. The interior chassis stamp dates to late 1965. The speakers are original Jensen C10NS, C824 and date to late 65. The grill cloth is original, still has the original black staples, and is in really good shape. Original tolex, knobs, handle and logo. As mentioned, we had this amp serviced. We had the bright switches replaced, we still have the originals. We also chose to replace both the input jacks on channel one, we still have those, too. We also put a fresh, heavy duty power cord on it, the “death cap” checked fine so was left in. Any cold solders were repaired, and 1 meg ohm cap was replaced. The filter caps were pro replaced with Mallories in 1995, and still work strong. We replaced the out put tubes with a fresh pair of JJ tubes from Tube Depot. The current owner has plugged in a solid state rectifier in the rectifier tube socket, it imparts a pretty wide head room, so we left it. To put it back to tube would involve just a quick, easy swap with a rectifier tube. The remaining tubes are Sovtek, the 12AT7 in the first channel is USA. The owner chose to use a 12AX7 in the reverb socket for a super lush reverb, again, we like it, so we left it. All tubes have been checked and are good. This amp is good to go, ready for stage or studio use. Unfortunately we do not have a cover for it. We do have the original footswitch, which works perfectly. That being said, this is a solid, well gone through amp that should last, delight and continue to go up in value for years to come. All original (as far as I can tell) down to 2 prong plug. Plug is damaged but is easily upgraded to the safer 3 prong, still plugs in and works. Left this amp as I found it, easily modified, recaped or repotted. All tubes match tube chart and look original, RCA 5GTE, RCA 6V6GT, MULLARD 12AX7. Tolex and speaker grill in awsome shape for 52 years old. Sounds good, very little noise or hum for ungrounded plug. Fender speaker in great shape. Corners tight and undamaged. All 3 pots work and adjust with very little noise but volume does not stop at 1 and 10, treble is perfect, bass does not stop at 1. These are easy fixes for someone who works on these. Normal light corrosion on metallic parts, normal light blemishes. More detailed pictures available upon request. Feel free to ask questions. Vintage Fender Champ Blackface Vacuum Tube Guitar Combo Amp! Listing is for a vintage Fender Champ Amp guitar amplifier. I believe it is 1966. In good condition for its age and sounds great. Speaker has been upgraded to a Jensen, plug has been changed (see pic), and the on/off switch works fine in the up and down position but there is a middle area where it doesn’t switch over to on or off (it was never an issue but just thought it should be mentioned). I will also include an extra JJ tube but the vintage tubes sound gorgeous. Amp will be packed very well. Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Deluxe Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb is a one-owner example with a very original circuit that has been freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. Stocked with fresh 6V6 power tubes and an assortment of new and vintage preamp tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has a clear and dynamic sound, delivering sparkling cleans that are a great effects pedal platform. The amp starts to saturate with smooth tube overdrive after about 5 on the volume dial, cascading into rich, lightly compressed crunch as you push the volume to 10. The Reverb is very lush with a long decay, and the tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three-dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit is very original, with stock Schumacher transformers that have date codes spanning late 1966 and early’67. The preamp is loaded with the full compliment of the original blue Ajax molded capacitors, a key ingredient in the dynamic, musical tone of Fender’s Blackface amps. The power amp has been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms, and the smaller bypass caps and bias cap have been replaced to ensure optimal operation. The CTS pots date back to the 26th week of’66 and the tube chart is intact with an “QD” date code which translates to April of 1967. The Oxford 12K5-6 speaker is original as well, dating to the 32nd week of’66. Cosmetically, the amp is very clean, with stock smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The tolex is remarkably clean, with the only wear of note on the bottom front edge of the enclosure. All of the original hardware is present including the chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), corners, and raised Fender logo on the baffle. The original faceplate also shows sparingly little wear with bold graphics and stock witch hat knobs. Up for sale is a Vintage Fender Tremolux Guitar Amp Head. The tolex is ripping up at certain spots (pictured). The rear back panel is missing. Some of the metal has surface rust due to years of age. Includes the original footswitch. The amp powers up and is in great working condition. All of the inputs, outputs, switches and knobs work as they should. The pedal included is not the original, but it powers on/off the vibrato when plugged into either of the Vibrato inputs. The original paper label is in poor condition from age and being exposed to humidity. I cannot guarantee that the capacitors or tubes have not been replaced over the years. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced early in 1965, this Blackface Princeton Reverb retains the “Pre-CBS” features typically only associated with the’64 production year, and this extremely clean and early example boasts a Fender Electrical Instrument Co. Faceplate and early no-logo cabinet! The perfect amplifier for small club gigs and studio sessions, the Princeton Reverb is a Fender amp that delivers well balanced, sparkling cleans. The Reverb is extremely lush and the Tremolo has a nice pulse with a wide range of speeds. Modded by one of Nashville’s premier amp shops (aptly named “Nashville Amplifier Service”), this Princeton has incredible volume and an extra gain stage utilizing a 12AX7 before the phase inverter, which has been swapped for a 12AU7. The tone is clean, clean, clean and positively huge, with a bass response and fullness that belies the amp’s modest stature. Here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, we typically strive to offer the most original and vintage-correct amps, but this particular Princeton was so well modded and the work so purposefully done to achieve an impressive tone, that we’ve elected to leave all of Nashville Amplifier Service’s work intact. The chassis itself is very clean with the original power transformer and choke that date to early 1965, while the replaced Deluxe Reverb output transformer dates to 1969. The circuit retains the original CTS pots which also date to’65, along with the tube chart which has an “OF” date stamp that translates to June of 1965. The power tubes are a pair of modern Electro Harmonix 6V6 power tubes which sound great with great richness and detail, while the preamp tubes are a combination of vintage and newer valves. The original faceplate is notably clean and retains all of the original black skirted knobs. As the photos show, the original black tolex is remarkably clean, with oonly light wear on the bottom edges of the enclosure. Both of the original back panels are intact and the stock grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the thread with only light aging. A two-button Fender footswitch is included.
