1967 Fender Showman Vintage Blackface Piggyback Tube Amp Tone Ring Cab JBL D140F

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Showman in excellent condition, complete with the matching 1×15 “Tone Ring” piggyback speaker cabinet. The Showman was Fender’s flagship tube amp in’67, and the Blackface circuit delivers incredible clean power and headroom, with a sweet sounding, versatile preamp. This particular Showman boasts a matched quad of Groove Tubes 6L6 power tubes and has just been given a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. From full, tight bass to Fender sparkle and chime on the top end, this is an extremely tonally balanced amp, with plenty of mids on tap as well and strong tremolo. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D140F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so darn impressive! The speaker cabinet retains all of its original fiberglass sound dampening sheets and the D140F sounds incredible with a professional recone. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced, with new filter caps in the power supply and smaller bypass and bias caps in the preamp. The preamp features new Sprague Orange Drop caps as well, and a three-prong cable has been installed. The original Schumacher output transformer and choke is present and date to 1966, while the power transformer is a genuine vintage Fender replacement that dates to 1972. The tube chart is complete and intact with a clear “QD” date stamp, which translates to April of 1967, while the original CTS pots date back to the 38th week of’66. This amp sports the original smooth black tolex which is in great shape overall, showing only minor scuffs and light wear along the edges of the head enclosure, while the speaker cab is remarkably clean. While the cab retains its original silver sparkle grillcloth, the head has had a vintage piece of genuine Fender grillcloth installed with similar tint to the cloth so that the head and cab are a perfect match. All of the hardware is intact as well including chrome tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars, handles, corners and raised metal Fender logos on both the head and speaker cabinet. This vintage Blackface Fender Showman is clean and complete. A testament to the enduring popularity, great tone and reliability of vintage Fender amps! Delivering 85 clean, all tube Fender watts through a JBL D140F, this amp is ideal for guitar, bass or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Tremolux in excellent condition and in good working order. This vintage Blackface Tremolux is from production run #2 as noted on the tube chart and has a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate indicative of the very first “Pre-CBS” Blackface amps. The circuit has been serviced and the amp boasts a pair of vintage 6L6GC power tubes. The tone is stunning and quintessential Blackface Fender, with the perfect amount of clean headroom before the amp gives in to slightly compressed tube overdrive around 5 on the volume dial. The vibrato has a strong pulse to it as well and each channel has a similar voicing, although the Normal channel has just a touch more low end and midrange punch. The circuit retains all of the original Schumacher (Fender’s transformer supplier in the Blackface era) output transformer and choke which date to mid’65. The power transformer is a vintage Schumacher replacement which has a Fender part number and dates to 1967. The preamp features a combination of original blue molded Ajax capacitors and modern, high quality Sprague Orange Drops. The power amp has been professionally recapped as well. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are a mixture of newer and vintage valves. The stock CTS pots and chassis stamp date to 1965. The tube chart is intact with only light wear and a clean “OI” date stamp, which translates to September of 1965. The speaker cab boasts a pair of vintage correct Oxford 10L6 ceramic speakers. These speakers have black frames, original blue Fender foil labels, and original cones. Cosmetically, the amp retains the original silver sparkle grillcloth and smooth black tolex. The head is particularly clean with a minty faceplate and stock knobs. The nickel hardware shows moderate patina, with the original pat. Pending tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars and chrome thumb screws. The grillcloth on both the head and cab are uniformly aged as well. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1965 Fender Bassman Blackface Piggyback Vintage Tube Amp AA165, Jensen C12N

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab loaded with vintage Jensen C12N speakers in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Blackface Fender amp is very original and complete with fresh JJ 6L6 power tubes. For clarity, warmth, and headroom, this Bassman excels at delivering sweet and articulate Fender clean tones. Once you reach about 5 on the volume dial, the circuit starts to overdrive smoothly and compress a bit, for a raw, thick sound that’s perfect for guitar or bass. It’s a simple and pure vintage Fender “piggyback” head and cab setup that provides a perfect platform for effect pedals, and is ready for stage and studio use. Arguably the circuit available for the briefest period of time in the Blackface era, the AA165 circuit designation is seen on many tube charts (Leo Fender was never one to waste anything), but under the hood, the actual AA165 circuit was only seen for a few months in early’65 before transitioning to the AB165 that would be seen through 1968. This amp is one of few to retain the original AA165 guts! The circuit retains all of the original transformers which date to early 1965 along with the CTS pots and chassis stamp. The majority of the original blue molded Ajax caps are present in the preamp and the circuit has been thoroughly maintained with new main filter caps and a few smaller Mallory caps in the preamp to ensure that the amp is operating within original factory spec. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with a “OG” date stamp which translates to July of 1965. The amp features a modern three-prong power cable as well. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of vintage Jensen C12N speakers, and these 12 drivers are arguably the most desirable speakers for the Blackface Bassman. These speakers are detailed, clear, and well balanced, overdriving with very rich and balanced overtones. The dark greenish blue frames are quite clean, and the speakers date to early 1964. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex. A new solid pine baffle has been installed (superior in both tone and reliability over the stock MDF baffle) and new silver sparkle grillcloth has been installed on both the head and cab and appropriately aged. Most of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, and sphinx glides (feet). Both Fender logos are modern replacements. The original faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of patina on the hardware, and some expected scuffs and minor wear around the edges of the enclosures, but as the photos show, this Bassman presents very well and wound look great in a studio collection. This Bassman is clean, complete, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 1982 Fender “Rivera Era” Super Champ in 100% original condition and in good working order. This is a clean and stock Super Champ with a compliment of carefully selected vintage tubes to sound its best. This 18 watt tube amp packs incredible tone and features into the pint sized Champ enclosure. One of the last great amps of the original Fender line, this all tube wonder was part of a line of amplifiers created by Paul Rivera, who later went on to create another great line of boutique amps under his own name. This amp features two channels with independent gain controls; one for classic Fender clean, and the other for more saturated “high gain” tones. The reverb sounds great too! The original 10 speaker is intact with a ceramic magnet, original cone and blue Fender label. Overall the amp is cosmetically very well kept, with only the faintest wear to the original black tolex and hardware, with silver sparkle grillcloth and a minty and original “Fender” logo. The tube chart is intact and both the original power and output transformers have 1982 date codes, along with the CTS pots. This Super Champ is extremely clean, original and sounds great! 1967 Fender Deluxe Reverb Blackface Vintage Tube Amp 1x12 AB763 Circuit with ftsw

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Deluxe Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb features a 100% original circuit. Stocked with fresh 6V6 power tubes and an assortment of new and vintage preamp tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has a clear and dynamic sound, delivering sparkling cleans that are a great effects pedal platform. The amp starts to saturate with smooth tube overdrive after about 5 on the volume dial, cascading into rich, lightly compressed crunch as you push the volume to 10. The Reverb is very lush with a long decay, and the tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three-dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit is 100% original and untouched, right down to the original filter caps and two-prong power cable. The preamp is loaded with the full compliment of the original blue Ajax molded capacitors, and all of the original Schumacher transformers are present, with date codes spanning late 1966 and early’67. The CTS pots date back to the 32nd week of’66 and the tube chart is intact with an “QH” date code which translates to August of 1967. The Oxford 12L6 speaker is a vintage-spec replacement which dates to 1965 with the original blue foil Fender label on the magnet and a fresh recone. Cosmetically, the amp is very original overall, with stock smooth black tolex and new aged silver sparkle grillcloth on the original baffle. The tolex is remarkably clean and all of the original hardware is present including the chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), corners, and raised Fender logo on the baffle. The original faceplate also shows sparingly little wear with bold graphics and stock witch hat knobs. This is a very original and well kept example of one of Fender’s most famous Blackface amps, complete with the original two-button footswitch. 1964 Fender Super Reverb Blackface Vintage Tube Amp Pre-CBS AB763 Jensen C10R

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in good working order. This Pre-CBS amp has been incredibly well cared for over the past nearly 50+ years, and comes from the first year of production. However, what truly makes this Super a rarity and a tonally exquisite example is the quad of original Jensen C10R speakers, arguably the rarest speaker quad used in this amp during the Blackface era. As a result, the tone has a hi-fi clarity, punch, and detail rarely afforded a Super Reverb and to round things out the amp is fitted with a complete vintage (and likely original) tube set including a matched pair of Fender-branded RCA 6L6GCs. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides you with plenty of pristine Fender cleans until you hit the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup send the amp into smooth overdrive. The reverb is lush and deep, and the tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to machine gun fast tremolo. The circuit is untouched save for a new three-prong power cable and even the original compliment of filter caps are still working as intended. All of the original coveted blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact too, and an integral part of the sweetness and detail of the Blackface sound. All of the original Schumacher transformers feature date codes from early’64, and the original CTS pots also date to 1964. The chassis itself is very clean as is the original blackface faceplate, which has been fitted with a new compliment of witch hat knobs. The tubes consist of a matched pair of “Made for Fender by RCA” 6L6GC power tubes along with a compliment of General Electric and RCA preamp tubes. In terms of the speakers, this Jensen quad is completely original, with matching late 1964 codes and the original harness. The speaker cones are all original, and the amp has a very strong, clear tone, as these cones have seen limited use over the decades and still reproduce focused lows and chiming highs. All four speakers retain clean square Jensen labels on the ceramic magnets, and the black frames show sparingly little wear. The original smooth black tolex is clean and original with little wear, while the original baffle features new aged silver sparkle grillcloth. The lower back panel is original and the upper panel is a modern replacement. The original nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, chrome tilt-back legs, and raised “Fender” logo are present, and all hardware is in excellent shape. This Blackface Super Reverb is particularly clean, well maintained, and ready for stage and studio use! The original two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab loaded with stock Jensen C12N speakers and complete with fresh Tung Sol power tubes and original RCA preamp tubes. 100% original aside from a new bias cap and three-prong power cable, this vintage Blackface Fender amp is a true AA165 circuit Bassman with a Pre-CBS “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate and date codes between late 1964 and early’65. On this particular amp the tube chart still refers to the earlier AA864 circuit, but the chassis layout conforms to AA165 specs. The circuit retains all of the original transformers with a power transformer dating to the 46th week of 1964 and a power transformer that dates to the second week of’65. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are present in the preamp and the amp even retains all of the stock filter caps which are working as intended with no leakage. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with a “OB” date stamp which translates to February of 1965. The amp is fitted with a modern three-prong cable. The tubes consist of a pair of brand new and properly biased Tung Sol 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes, along with a trio of RCA 12AX7s and a General Electric 12AT7 phase inverter tube. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of original Jensen C12N speakers, and these 12 drivers are arguably the most desirable speakers for the Blackface Bassman. These speakers are detailed, clear, and well balanced, overdriving with very rich and balanced overtones. The frames are very clean, the original gold Jensen/Fender labels are present, and both speakers have their original cones. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex on the head and speaker cabinet. The grillcloth on the cabinet is original as well, while the head has genuine vintage cloth with aging consistent to the cab. There are only a few requisite scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosures, as well as one small bald spot on the cab just north of the front left corner. All of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and Fender logos. The faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of light patina on the hardware as well as faint aging of the grillcloth on the cab in particular, but that’s about the extent of any wear! This Bassman is clean, complete, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely.
