Vintage 1965 Fender Bandmaster Blackface AB763 Guitar Tube Amplifier Amp Head. This amp dates to early/mid 1965. The amp was fitted long ago with a 1964 Twin/Showman transformer to accommodate four power tubes to have the option for more power. Very much like a Showman now with a little more mid bite. The rest of the iron is all original dating to 1965. Operates as stock when using only two power tubes running at 40 watts. The feel is there and has all the great tone youd expect from a classic amp such as this. The tone stack on these blackface Bandmasters is such a killer tone and there is good reason why these are such classics. This particular amp is no exception. This one will make somebody very happy. No foot switch included unfortunately. Includes brand new set of JJ pre amp tubes and matched quad of Tung Sol 7591A tubes. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Bandmaster in exceptional condition and in good working order. This 40 watt Blackface Fender powerhouse has the powerful, balanced cleans and smooth tube overdrive at high volumes that you expect from a vintage Fender from this era. The cleans are warm and articulate, with Fender’s sparkly top end and the ability to dial in just the right amount of grit and light tube compression. The circuit is 100% original save for a new bias cap and modern three-prong power cable The preamp retains all of the famed blue molded Ajax tone caps, essential to the sweet, musical sound of the Blackface circuits, and the original Schumacher transformers all date to 1965. The CTS pots have late’65 date codes, and the tube chart rounds out the applicable dates with a “OI” stamp that translates to September of 1965. Even the original power supply caps are intact and still viable. The cabinet is stocked with the original pair of Oxford 12L6 12 speakers with immaculate black frames, original cones, and clean date stamps from the 10th week of’65. All of the original fiberglass sound dampening sheets are intact inside the cabinet too. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are extremely well-kept, with only light darkening of the grillcloth and zero snags. Both the head and cabinet retain their original raised “Fender” logos and all of the original hardware is intact including the nickel corners, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, and Pat. Pending chrome tilt-back legs. You simply won’t find a better vintage Blackface Fender at this price point, and the Bandmaster truly delivers on the promise of the AB763 circuit, with incredible cleans, smooth overdrive and strong tremolo! THE AMP THAT NEVER LEFT HOME. PERFECT GRILL CLOTH – NO SMOKE STAINS!! NON SMOKING HOUSE —– ALL ORIGINAL AMP—- TIME WARP. COMES WITH ORIGINAL 60′s COVER (Not Repro). I bought this amp about 10 years ago from its original owner. It was bought in 67 by a guy that was going to learn guitar. It seemed like a good idea at the time but he never put the time in and the amp sat for 40 years in a bedroom closet. When I got it home, I powered it up with a variac just in case but there were no problems and everything checked out fine. I left it exactly as I found it, no mods, no components were replaced. The first 5 pics were taken this week, the rest were from 10 years ago when I had it apart. Sadly, Ive done the same thing as the original owner. It has sat in my closet with the cover on and has had less than 2 hours of use in the last 10 years. I’m not a guitar player, I play keys and will never get the proper enjoyment out of this amp.. This is a classic guitar players dream!!! I’ve heard this amp at the hands of a pro guitar player. The vibrato feature really makes this amp! TECHNICAL INFO – Amp is in excellent working condition. From the little I have used it, I haven’t had any issues at all. The power cord is the original one! It is nice and flexible with no cracks and I see no reason to replace it at this time how many 50 Y/O + amps can you say that about? Control knobs feel brand new because they have had no use to speak of! Sorry, the amp did not come with the foot pedal control so there is no control I can offer you. The pedal is needed to switch from vibrato mode to non-vibrato as you know. TERMS OF SALE – I offer this amp to someone that will hopefully enjoy it and use it more than once a year. Although it is in good working order now, anything can happen to a 54 year old amp with original components. Here we have a beautiful vintage Fender Pro Reverb amplifier from 1966. Made in the USA. The Pro Reverb is a 2×12 all tube guitar combo amplifier. It is essentially half of a “Twin Reverb” It is a 40 watt amplifier and it sounds so sweet. The beauty of the Pro Reverb is you can turn it up to 6 or 7 for a gig or recording and get that sweet spot. The amplifier is in very very clean condition. So please take a look at all the photos and if you have any questions feel free to ask. There is some light seem splitting at the corners but no major tears or rips. The amplifier has been re-capped and also has had a 3 prong plug added and the death cap removed. The speakers are the original Jensen C12′s. One dates to 1965 and one dates to 1964. The faceplate on this amp seems to be a pre- CBS as it says “Fender Electric Instrument Co”. Most likely it was a leftover faceplate when this amp was built in 1966. The transformers and chassis serial number all date to 1966. The original foot switch is included but one of the buttons is a bit fussy. It works but can be intermittent. The amp has had a recent check up by our amp technician and has been given a clean bill of health. Now for the sound… What can we say really… It is a vintage Pro Reverb and it sounds sweet to the ears. You can really juice this one up and get the beautiful breakup that we all crave. This Vibro Champ has a number of early features including the Pre-CBS-era “Fender Electric Instrument” faceplate and no-logo grill. This little Blackface-era Fender wonder delivers five watts of pure Class A tube tone. A surprisingly loud amp via an upgraded alnico magnet 8 speaker, the Vibro Champ offers warm, dynamic cleans before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive as you turn up the Volume dial. Responsive to your picking dynamics, and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it’s hard to beat the Vibro Champ for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender’s lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop. The circuit is completely original save for the a few smaller electrolytic caps in the preamp. The stock Schumacher-made transformers date to the 14th week of’65 (power) and 13th week of 1965 (output), and visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 30th week of’64. The tube chart is fully intact with an “OF” stamp which translates to June of 1965. The tube compliment includes a modern Groove Tubes 6V6 power tube, vintage GE 5Y3 rectifier tube, and matched USA-made Sylvania preamp tubes. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are extremely clean, with very little darkening of the grillcloth and sparingly little wear on the tolex. The faceplate is very well-kept too, complete with its full compliment of witch hat knobs. The stock handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and chassis straps are all intact, and the hardware shows sparingly little surface patina. This Vibro Champ is an ideal example of Blackface tone that sure to delight both discerning collectors and serious players. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb was made very early in the second full year of production for this model, with a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate, no logo grill, and date codes firmly placing this amp at the very tail end of the Pre-CBS era. Stocked with a matched pair of fresh Tung Sol 6V6 power tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has a sweet, balanced sound that delivers the top end sparkle and clarity characteristic of the best amps from Fender’s Blackface era. This amp is very dynamic, working as a perfect platform for effects pedals and while the treble response can twang with the best, there’s a smoothness to the top end that keeps the amp from ever sounding harsh. Turning it up past 4 on the volume dial, the amp begins to push into overdrive territory with light compression and plenty of sizzle. The Reverb is lush with long decay and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit retains all of the original Schumacher-made transformers (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the Blackface era) with date codes from mid-1964. All but one of the original CTS pots are intact, also with visible date codes from’64. The preamp features a host of modern Sprague Orange Drop capacitors, with smaller Sprague electrolytic caps and low-noise metal film resistors throughout. The power supply has been professionally recapped with high quality Sprague Atoms, and a three-prong cable has been installed too. The speaker is a vintage Jensen C12R ceramic driver which dates to the 18th week of 1963, factory spec for this model yet a more recent substitution. The speaker has a clean frame and small Jensen foil label on the magnet. The original tube chart is intact inside the cabinet, with the “Fender Electric Instrument Co” text matching the faceplate, retaining an “OB” date stamp which translates to February of 1965. Cosmetically, the amp is complete with the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The original grillcloth shows only light, uniform aging on the no-logo baffle, an early feature which only lasted through the first few months of’65. The original faceplate is quite clean and retains a full compliment of witch hat knobs, and the all-important Pre-CBS Fender Electric Inst. Text is present on the faceplate. The tolex shows only some requisite stray nicks and minor edge wear, and all of the original hardware including the handle caps, chassis straps, and sphinx glides (feet) is present.
