Vintage Bogen SRB-20 Tube Stereo Receiver – Classic Early 1960s American Hi-Fi. Classic American tube receiver using four 6BM8 / ECL82 output tubes delivering warm vintage hi-fi sound. Offered for sale is a vintage Bogen SRB-20 stereo tube receiver, a beautiful gold-face unit from the early 1960s featuring classic American tube audio design. These receivers are known for their warm tube sound and attractive mid-century styling. This unit was recently acquired from an estate and remains largely original and unmodified, making it an excellent candidate for restoration or servicing by a vintage audio enthusiast. Unit powers on and tubes illuminate. Audio present with very minimal hum. Volume and tone controls respond when adjusted. Overall cosmetic condition is very good for its age. The tuning mechanism does not currently rotate due to deterioration of the rubber friction wheel in the dial drive assembly. This is a vintage David Bogen Company tube power amplifier, manufactured in the USA for industrial / commercial PA or laboratory use, not consumer hi-fi. These were commonly used in institutional sound systems, factories, schools, and industrial control environments. Paramus, New Jersey. Marked 117 VAC / 60 Hz. 300 watts / 2.5 amps. Tube complement (by chassis labeling). (2) EL34 / 6CA7 output tubes. EZ81 / 6CA4 rectifier. 6AN8 driver / phase inverter. Relay socket present (industrial control use). 70V / 25V constant-voltage PA outputs. Also labeled 6.25? And 49? Taps. Designed for distributed speaker systems. Heavy-duty Bogen iron (power & output transformers). Original attached power cord. No attempt has been made to power the unit. Due to the age of this amplifier, it should be inspected and serviced by a qualified technician before use. As with most vintage tube equipment, some level of repair or restoration should be expected. Cosmetic condition shows normal wear consistent with age, including surface scratches, oxidation on laminations, and general shop wear. Beautiful 1961 Bogen Challenger CHA-10 Vintage amplifier. Completely restored plug and play ready! Glorious single ended 6L6 sound! Think way louder Fender Princeton. Amp is mostly stock with a few useful mods. The tone switch has been changed to way more useful tweed Fender tone pot circuit. The phono pot is now a master volume. 1/4 input and speaker out jacks. 4, 8 and 16 ohm outputs. I added a 3 prong power cord and fuse for safety. Still has the original hang tag from the power cord! All original high testing Bogen tubes-6AV6 (Blackburn Mullard), 6AU6 (RCA), 6L6GC (GE) and EZ81 (Blackburn Mullard). I haven’t done one of these for awhile, so video is of one I did while ago the same way so you can hear how it sounds.
For sale is a very rare Bogen PR16 transcription turntable. It has been tested, the turntable is running quiet on both 78 and 33.1/3 rpm. But putout NO SOUND, all tubes is lighted up, all capacitors, resistors are intact, no signs of repair or alternated (see photos). It is NOT working condition. This unit is heavy.
