Vintage Tube Amp

I have for you a genuine ESTATE item… Please note the photographs. Marantz Model 8 Stereo Power Amplifier. Two-channel/stereo vacuum tube amplifier, 30 watts per channel, Serial No. 1954, built by the original (Saul) Marantz Company, Long Island City, New York. Based-on what Ive been able to find out. Essentially this Model 8 is two Model 5s on the same chassis. From the estate of the original owner, who, incidentally, was the son of a McIntosh executive; this unit was found alongside another Marantz tube amplifier, a Model 5, in a New Jersey estate. This Model 8 was subsequently taken to noted Marantz authority/repairer Bristol Electronics where it was vetted, tested, evaluated and sympathetically gone-over in general. It was brought-up very slowly on a Variac for 8 to 10 hours. Tubes were checked, tube pins and the bias tests switch were cleaned. RCA jacks were tightened, adjusted, etc, etc. Overall it was tested and gone-through to a point. A set of four (4) rubber feet were replaced (now black). 2 1/2A Slo Blo Fuse replaced. A used, nicely matched EL34 Tube fitted. Replaced original parts (the old brown broken feet and fuse, etc) were kept and will accompany the unit for the sake of originality. While this unit has been tested and works, there are some items that were recommended. A new selenium rectifier, possibly of modern-type silicon diode variety; and a new rubber power cord, of the same style, should be fitted if you intend to use this piece and expect top performance, to the best of its potential. This Model 8 is a testament for what it is. A nice, original American tube amplifier thats highly sought after today. Its for the collector, is the better part of 60 years old and should be looked-at and used as such unless youre full aware of how to care for, tune and restore/enjoy these precision units. Vintage Montgomery Ward / Valco Amp Head. 2 Channel, Reverb and Tremolo. 4 x 6L6s, 3 x 12AX7, and a 6V6 all of which look to be RCA. This amp is a vintage tube amp which looks to be in its original state minus the updated 3 prong cord added by one of the previous owners. Having it inspected by a amp tech is always a wise idea to insure several more years of awesome use. Both channels work and so does the reverb and tremolo. There is a hum when the amp is on and resting, w. Hich is very common for older amps. It does sound very good though when it is played and all the knobs and switches seam to work. The hum doesnt increase when adding volume or adding reverb or tremolo. All 3 lights work but the 1st one looks to be out of position and not as bright. Cabinet does have a few dings with rips in the vinyl, but solid and clean for the most part. One rubber foot is broken also. Faceplate does have some pitting from its age. Solid amp with great bones, but not in perfect condition. Please ask any and all questions and I will do my best to answer. Ridiculous but it will be packed correctly. Fender Champ 12 Vintage Tube Amplifier made around 1990. This is an all tube combo amp with a 12 inch speaker. Two 12AX7′s in the preamp and one 6L6 in the power amp. There is a hard wired foot switch that controls the 2 (clean/dirty) channels. Built in spring reverb tank which is located at the top of the cabinet near the chassis. This amp sounds AMAZING and it gets very loud. Big sound in a small package. This amp is fully functional and in great cosmetic condition. Everything works perfectly and it sounds fabulous. This one is in great shape and recently serviced with electrolytic caps replaced for a lifetime of great tube stereo music. Up for sale is a terrific and hard to find 1×12 tube amp from Peavey…. As of the date of this listing, 10/24/2018, there are no other 1×12 Ultras for sale! So snag this one immediately while you still can! Reason # 1 is of course the sound you get from 2, count em’, TWO LARGE power tubes! I believe they are 6L6′s. Really makes this amp sing! It’s been stated that this unit sounds very reminiscent of a Mesa Boogie or like a precursor to the consequent legendary 5150′s that came out. Therefore, the clean sound is amazing… Super warm and round in the bass frequencies, just like a Mesa! Also makes it a great platform for your effects if you are a pedal or rack user who likes to get their distortion and/or other effects from outboard gear. The overdrive (crunch) channel on this amp is very musical. Excellent in my opinion! Start with the gain low and you can get all sorts of genres: classic rock, country, blues, etc. Go more than halfway and you’re into hard rock territory. Put the gain on 9 or dime it and you’re pretty much in convincing EVH brown sound territory…. Sounds so sweet here in this area! Want metal and/or high gain? Switch over to the Ultra Gain channel and you are easily there! With a overdrive and/or tube screamer (I’ve got a Fender Drive pedal, Maxon ROD 880, Ibanez DS10 Distortion Charger, and other dirt pedals available in my store) into this amp with the gain even less than halfway, and you’ve got that tight, focused searing sound you want when you play brutal high gain metal! It also sings nicely for solos and lead breaks! Top all of this off with a bright switche for the clean channel to liven up your dark humbucker guitar sounds, gain boost buttons for both the crunch and ultra lead channel, a power amp eq control consisting of a 3 position resonance switch , and you’ve got tons of sonic shaping options with just this one box! Also included is the 3 button footswitch that you NEED to be able to switch from the clean channel to the crunch channel as well as to be able to switch to the ultra gain channel! No reverb on this unit as the reverb tank is missing. You can easily install one if you want to. And with an effects loop put a delay pedal in there…. I have delays from Ibanez, Line 6, Rogue, Arion, and Behringer, etc. And you won’t even miss reverb! , parallel speaker jacks and a preamp out to round out your features, this is an all-in-one solution to all of your tonal necessities.
