Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Vibro Champ in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This Vibro Champ has a number of early features including the Pre-CBS-era “Fender Electric Instrument” faceplate and no-logo grill. This little Blackface-era Fender wonder delivers five watts of pure Class A tube tone. A surprisingly loud amp via an upgraded alnico magnet 8 speaker, the Vibro Champ offers warm, dynamic cleans before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive as you turn up the Volume dial. Responsive to your picking dynamics, and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it’s hard to beat the Vibro Champ for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender’s lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop. The circuit is completely original save for the a few smaller electrolytic caps in the preamp. The stock Schumacher-made transformers date to the 14th week of’65 (power) and 13th week of 1965 (output), and visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 30th week of’64. The tube chart is fully intact with an “OF” stamp which translates to June of 1965. The tube compliment includes a modern Groove Tubes 6V6 power tube, vintage GE 5Y3 rectifier tube, and matched USA-made Sylvania preamp tubes. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are extremely clean, with very little darkening of the grillcloth and sparingly little wear on the tolex. The faceplate is very well-kept too, complete with its full compliment of witch hat knobs. The stock handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and chassis straps are all intact, and the hardware shows sparingly little surface patina. This Vibro Champ is an ideal example of Blackface tone that sure to delight both discerning collectors and serious players. 1955 Fender Princeton Tweed Small Box Vintage Class A Tube Amp 5E2, 1x8 Jensen

Up for sale, a 1955 Fender Princeton in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This narrow panel Tweed amp is the particularly rare “small box” example only offered in 1955, with a more compact enclosure identical to the Champ. The flawless tube chart and matching two digit P00057 serial stamped on the chassis speak to the early nature of this model, being the 57th narrow panel Princeton ever produced. The original tweed is uniformly ambered and very well-kept, and is one of the rarest and most unique golden-age Fender amps to come through our shop of late. The circuit couldn’t be more simple and pure, with single Volume and Tone knobs and a Class A circuit design, powered by a single 6V6 power tube. The tone is articulate, dynamic and commanding, with the sizzle and churning overdrive of a Champ, but greater ability to sculpt the tone. The top end response is just right, and the amp doesn’t get too trebly, with a nice wooly warmth and reconed original Jensen 8 speaker, making the Tone control quite usable and giving the circuit the ability to handle ample low end without sounding loose or over-burdened. The circuit is 100% original, with untouched solder joints save for a substituted era-correct two-prong power cable The circuit retains its original Triad transformers, and the original Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and red “dynamite” Astron capacitors are intact. Visible codes on the Stackpole pots dat3 to the 43rd week of 1954. All of the original caps both in the preamp and power supply are still functioning as intended, a testament to the longevity of Fender’s amps and component choices. The tubes are all vintage valves include a vintage RCA 5Y3, Hytron 6V6 power tube, and a UK-made 12AX7. The speaker is original and a particularly rare alnico Jensen, stamped “EE” just to the right of the magnet, matching the identical stamps on the chassis and tube chart. The tube chart is notable for its well-preserved condition, with perfect corners, handwritten serial number, and “EE” date stamp which translates to May of 1955. The tweed is 100% original with light, uniform ambering, and some minor staining below the grillcloth, attributable to “bleed out” from the original rivets pinning the tweed. There are also two small holes on the upper back panel from a removed, non-original cable wrap. The original leather handle is intact and incredibly clean, as is the gleaming chrome faceplate with original silkscreen text and chicken head knobs. This amp is a true rarity given its condition, and this particular example has been carefully tested and inspected to ensure originality and ideal functionality. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Contrary to what ignorant people on the internet say, this amp is NOT a clone of the Blackstar Ht20. The latter is a cathode bias amp, thus it has a soft, spongy distortion. But if you play rock, hard rock, hard edged blues and you want a type of sound like Marshall, Orange, Hiwatt, etc, you need a FIXED bias amp, which the G20 is (I have asked a Bugera tech). This bias style will give the exciting, powerful, brutal type of power amp distortion like the amps mentioned above, not the soft and spongy type. Another point about why the Blackstar HT 20 and the G20 could not be more different amps, is that the Blackstar HT has a clean power amp of the clinical type. The Bugera G20 has a ton and a half of power amp distortion when you crank it to max. Lastly, the Blackstar does not feature servo bias (Infinium). You will not find another budget priced amp with servo bias, for you see this type of high tech on a tube amp, only on some amps by Hughes & Kettner, which cost 3 times or more than the Bugera. The servo bias is basically an amp tech into the amp… With FIXED bias amps such as the Bugera, you would have to reset the bias correctly every time you change the tubes. Not only that, you dont even need matched tubes (which costs more than unmatched), for the Infinium will take care of all that. AND, it continually balances the load on the power tubes, which means that if one is more worn than the other, the other one will take some of the load off the worn tube. That means that a set of tubes will last significantly longer, probably several years at least. And preamp tubes usually last forever anyways. So, the only thing in common between the Blackstar HT20 and the Bugera G20 is the COLOUR : Wow. How does the G20 sounds? It will cover ANY main tones as used in pop, blues, jazz, hard rock, and more. Crank it up to full and you will be greeted with impressive power amp distortion. As said, the Blackstar HT series has a clean power amp. One Blackstar I have that HAS a lot of power amp distortion, is the Series One, not the HT Series. I have two of these Bugera amps and bought one as backup but I dont really need it. The build quality is also very good: check out some of the metal film resistors in the pics, as well as ceramic tube sockets (not plastic) and an handle in real leather. In short: if you want a REAL tube amp (not these worthless digital and VST surrogate things), that has servo bias, that costs the same as an indifferent sounding solid state amp, in a portable package, this one certainly fits the bill. Keep in mind that this amp sounds a LOT louder than ANY 20 watts solid state or digital amps. And if you boost the FX loop, it will probably put out close to 40 watts anyways. The amp will be packed properly and will be sent with tracked and insured courier. 20-Watt Class-A Tube Amplifier Head with INFINIUM Tube Life Multiplier, MORPH EQ and Reverb. Similar technology has been used for decades in all-wheel drive cars, where systems modulate the power going to each wheel to improve traction. Just consider INFINIUM Series amps 4-wheel drive for your guitar. INFINIUM Series amps take all the guesswork out of tube replacement by illuminating an LED next to a tube that is reaching the end of its usable lifespan. Available exclusively from BUGERA.
