Vintage Tube Amp

I’m letting go of a few things from from my collection, including this rare and incredibly cool Devry Navy Type D film projector amplifier. These military signal corps cinema amps make killer guitar amps! The exterior case has some wear – the amp itself is solid and what is there looks to be original – needs typical updates like new. Power cord, new speaker jack arrangement, typical tube amp. Servicing, desired mods/conversion, and rectifier/power tubes. Preamp tubes are included.

Great sounding amplifier that is set up for electric guitar. I customized a Vox amp cabinet to house the amplifier very nicely.

Vintage Bell & Howell Filmosound 385 Tube Amplifier Amp & Speaker – Tested WORKS. Tested and working (a mp was tested on a stepdown converter due to the age). A soft static sound is heard from speaker while amp is on. When playing sound through the amp, the audio will be louder background static at normal volume levels when the knob is above the halfway mark. Static sound does not increase with volume level. All Bell and Howell branded tubes installed. Amplifier is unrestored, service is recommended before further use. Original projector speaker included, working. Standard signs of use. May have cosmetic wear and/or scuffs. Paint chipped on power transformer. Surface rust on some areas of the chassis and speaker. See photos for more detail. Includes only what is pictured. Filmosound open back 179 vintage style project. Empty unfinished open back pine head. Cabinet is 16” wide x 9” tall x 7-1/8. Chassis is not included. The front control panel is removable. These are sample photos similar to the cabinet you will recieve. Please let me know how you will be finishing this cabinet so I can make the proper space allowances for vynal covering, piping and grill fabric, or a natural finish and so forth. Please note : This cabinet will need further sanding and prep work prior to a natural finish. The vintage tube amp you see in the photos is not included. Is made of 1/2” birch plywood and the control. Opening is 8-1/4″ wide x 1-3/4” and sets back 5/16″. I take a lot of pride in every cabinet I build as you will see when you receive the cabinet. I do not stock any cabinets and I make them as the order comes in. I have fabricated thousands of cabinet and sell them all over the world. I do not have all the big overhead that these big companys have, thus I pass the savings on to you. All the cabinets I build are fabricated in my shop, one at a time, out of 3/4 pine that I select and assembled using strong beautiful halfblind dovetail glued joinery. On this cabinet, the front panel is made of 1/2 baltic birch. I then router the exterior corners so you can easily install standard corner protectors if you so choice. This amp circuit was originally built by At Mars, then I tweaked it a bit more and put it in the vintage ammo can. I have played this next to amps/circuits by all of the above builders and it totally hangs but with a unique voice. Comes with vintage/tested tubes.

It is a push pull amplifier, that utilizes a 5y3 rectifier tube, two 6v6 power tubes, with 6j5 triode and 6j7 pentode octal preamp tubes. No tubes are included or available. Mod or convert into a guitar amp, or use it for parts, these are awesome transformers for a 5e3 or related amp.
