Rare Vintage Gates Tube M-3689 Remote Control Amplifier in Working Condition. This Gates Amp is considered the cream of the crop of all the the Gates Remote Tube Preamplifiers. In House Spec UTC Linear Standard Input and Output Transformers(Gates Sourced their transformers at this period of time from UTC the round cans house UTC LS Series Transformers). Pulled from working environment. This is one of the hardest to find Gates Mixers. If you try to look them up , almost nothing comes up on it. It is in excellent cosmetic condition. Rare 1950′s vintage tubed Gates Studioette Studio mic mixer Console tube amp NR. This unit is scarce as are many pieces of this time period. This is in very nice clean shape. No tubes are included. We have not tested it however it was briefly gone through and nothing was found out of the ordinary. It is missing case to the electronics. All internal electronics look good. This compressor came from a California engineer who is in the process of downsizing his massive collection. He had removed it from a local station approximately 20 years ago. Since then, it’s sat in his radio room as a display piece. From what we can tell, it’s complete and all original. It’s a little dirty from years of being stored in an open-air rack, but should clean up well! The unit will have to be recapped before it can be used, and other components (resistors, etc) may need replacement as well. Also, we cannot guarantee the life of the tubes as we have not tested them. The tubes will be removed and boxed to ensure they reach you in good condition. This is in good physical condition with light to moderate overall wear and some rust on the top edge. All tubes are included, but they are untested and some might need replacing. This has a power cord attached, but no other. Cables, manuals, or any other accessories are included, sorry. It may need minor work or a full rebuild. I do not know. This will arrive safely. It appears to be made about 1964. All the tubes are Amperex and it uses two uses ultra quiet 6287/EF86 tubes in the pre-amp and ECC82/12AU7 as the output tube with a 6X4 rectifier tube. It has both the input and output transformers. It can be set for either 50 or 250 ohms input, and the output for 250 or 600 ohms. It has an interstage volume control and can be used with ribbon mics as it has 81 db of gain. The gain is adjustable with the interstage volume control on the front. In size it is roughly 11 by 5 3/4 by 6 inches tall includng the mounting flanges and control This has not been tested and may require capacitor replacement due to age deterioration, for peak performance. It’s the highest quality pre-amplifier that I have encountered, and should be put to use. Please see my other listings for more interesting radio/audio/phono items and tubes.
