1964 Fender Bandmaster Pre-CBS Vintage Tube Amp Head Blackface Blonde

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Bandmaster head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Pre-CBS Fender piggyback amp features original smooth blonde tolex and a AA763 circuit, typically only seen on the very first Blackface amps. The rare combination of cosmetics on this amp was only seen from the last months of 1963 through mid-64, and this amp sounds particularly good with a matched pair of brand new and freshly biased Tung Sol 5881 power tubes. This Bandmaster delivers the incredible cleans which are a hallmark of the Blackface tone, with sparkle, clarity and definition unlike any amps before or since. Pushing the amp beyond 4 on the Volume dial on either channel yields natural grit and tube breakup, overdriving hard when you dime the controls. The tremolo has a nice strong pulse and a very dimensional sound with a wide range of speeds. The circuit is very clean and original, with the stock Schumacher transformers dating from late 1963-64. All of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors are intact in the preamp and an essential part of the Blackface Fender tone, while the main filter caps have been upgraded to Sprague Atoms to ensure that the circuit is working optimally. The original CTS pots are all intact too, with visible date codes from the 40th week of 1963. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. In addition to the Tung Sol power tubes, the amp features a pair of USA-made General Electric 12AX7 preamp tubes along with modern valves from the likes of Mullard and EH. The original tube chart is mostly intact inside the head, with an ML date stamp that translates to December of 1963. The original smooth blonde tolex shows some scuffs and light signs of wear on the edges of the enclosures, and the baffle has been freshly regrilled with wheat grillcloth and fitted with the original raised Fender logo. The back panel is a modern replacement with matching smooth blonde tolex. The hardware shows its fair share of surface patina yet is all accounted for including the corners, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and piggyback clip bars. This early Blackface Bandmaster features stock transformers, fresh power tubes, and a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. A modern one-button footswitch for engaging the tremolo is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1962 Fender Tremolux Brownface Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Head, Blonde & Oxblood

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Tremolux head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The amp boasts the sweetness, tonal range, and harmonic clarity that characterizes Fender’s Pre-CBS era Brownface amps, and the circuit is powered by a pair of vintage General Electric 6L6 power tubes. The tone is pure, dynamic Fender clean sparkle until around 4 on the Volume dial where the amp begins to get just a touch of overdrive on the notes before cascading into full tube saturation when you dime it out. The bias-based tremolo circuit has an incredibly deep pulse and the EQ controls have a positively huge sweep. The circuit is extremely original, with all of the stock blue molded Ajax tone caps in the preamp, as well as the stock pots and original carbon comp resistors. All of the original transformers are intact, with a Triad power transformer and Schumacher output transformer which dates to the 22nd week of’62. The power supply has been professionally recapped with new Sprague Atom caps, and the preamp is virtually untouched save for one capacitor which was replaced with a cap of similar vintage. The chassis itself is very clean and the original brown faceplate is intact, complete with a set of original cream barrel knobs. The head sports its original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. The tolex is quite clean, with a couple small cigarette burns on top and spots on the side where the sap from the knots in the original pine has caused some staining through the tolex. There is one spot of wear on the edge of the tolex north of Input 1 on the Bright Channel, and some wear on the silkscreened faceplate adjacent to the Volume knob on that channel as well. The original “dogbone” molded plastic handle is intact, along with the original nickel corners and flat Fender logo on the amp’s face. The piggyback clip bars and sphinx glides (feet) are modern genuine Fender parts. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1981 Hiwatt DR504 Custom 50 Vintage Tube Amp Head Hylight Era UK

Up for sale, a 1981 Hiwatt Custom 50 DR504 head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This very original and freshly serviced head delivers thick crunch and pummeling low end grind. Extremely powerful and clear with a pair of JJ EL34 power tubes, this Hiwatt can achieve saturated roar and robust cleans, and it’s as nuanced, bass-rich, and commanding of a sound as we’ve ever heard from any British tube amp. This amp is loud, efficient, and searing, with an incredibly dynamic, touch-sensitive responsiveness. The amp features a late’70s-style two input preamp circuit, with each input dedicated to a discreet channel, Normal and Brilliant respectively. These inputs are summed in the next preamp tube, followed by a Master Volume and an additional gain stage not seen in the early’70s Hiwatt models. Essentially a 50 watt version of the venerable DR103, this Hiwatt has the incredible headroom and muscle that defined the early Hiwatt sound, and is one of the last to feature this earlier circuitry before Hiwatt would bow to the pressure of adding more gain to their models. The circuit is very original and freshly serviced, with stock Partridge transformers. All of the original mustard caps are intact in the preamp, and the power supply has been recapped as necessary to ensure optimal, reliable power and tone. The back panel of the chassis has a few silver plugs from previously removed mods, and the original Hylight badge is intact. The tubes include a brand new properly biased pair of Electro Harmonix EL34s as well as a host of modern preamp tubes. All hardware is original as well including the chassis bolts, handle, knobs, and Hiwatt logo. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1970s Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master Mark II Vintage Tube Guitar Amp Head, Serviced

Up for sale, a 1970′s Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master Mark II tube amplifier head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Fully serviced and very original, this head drives a matched pair of EL34 power tubes, generating an ample 45 watts. Made in Canada and fully hand-wired with giant Hammond transformers, this amp has significant clean headroom and passes a ton of low end. Known as the poor mans Marshall, the circuit can be easily modified to that of a classic 4-input design, yet in its stock configuration the YBA-1 can already harness that rich Tweed-meets-U. Blend which is this Traynor’s sonic signature. With Volume controls for each channel as well as a global EQ, this amp can be used to power a variety of different instruments (such as a bevy of vintage keyboards) or simply a single guitar or bass, providing a bold, clean power amp that works well with effects pedals. This Traynor has abundant low end response, and the large transformers keep the sound tight and full. This YBA-1 has a very original circuit, with all of the original Hammond transformers and a preamp that retains all of the original pots as well as the mustard tone caps which are essential to the tonal color of this head. The power supply includes new F&T capacitors to ensure optimal performance. The amp is currently loaded with a trio of vintage 12AX7 (7025) preamp tubes as well as a matched pair of Sylvania EL34 power tubes. The faceplate retains all of its original knobs, with most of the white screenprinting having been worn away. Smooth black tolex and a silver grill cloth cover the enclosure, with a good deal of scuffing and wear throughout, and there is evidence of black paint on the enclosure, specifically over the chrome bumpers. This Traynor lives up to the company’s reputation of delivering sturdy workhorse amps that perform reliably on stage and in studio situations. This vintage hand-wired Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master Mark II is a true sleeper that has been well played, but remains in top-notch performance condition. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 1972 Marshall JMP Tremolo 50 model 1987T in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with footswitch. One of the last point-to-point turret board 50 watt Marshalls in the small head box, this Tremolo 50 is outfitted with a matched pair of EL34 power tubes and delivers rich, textured British drive as only a Marshall can. There’s plenty of clean bite and headroom before pushing into sizzling overdrive, and the Tremolo 50 makes good on the promise of its model name with an additional 12AX7 preamp tube not found on your run-of-the-mill 50 watt, with Speed and Intensity controls to govern the chop and throb of the tremolo circuit. The circuit is very original and thoroughly serviced, with a bevy of vintage mustard tone caps in the preamp on the turret board, one of the last before Marshall switched to PCBs in’73. The original Drake transformers are intact, and the preamp and power supply has been recapped as needed to ensure optimal performance. The inspection tag on the chassis is dated 21-4-72. Both the original metal faceplate and back plate are intact, with all original knobs present and the tell-tale Polarity switch on the faceplate seen on Marshalls imported to the USA. This feature was phased out in the mid-70s and this switch is no longer active, given the modern three-prong power cable. The faceplate graphics are clean, and the head retains its original raised small Marshall badge and gold piping. The original handle is present too and the stock black tolex shows only light wear from the past nearly 50 years. A vintage metal wedge footswitch of the appropriate size and shape is included to engage the tremolo, fitted with a modern cable which has the correct four-pin input. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! This is a vintage Motorola from the sixties police radio/ walkie-talkie communication device. It has around 11-23 tubes in it… 11 covered & the others aren’t. I’m not including the big can filter capacitor. This would make a good small low watt tube amplifier, you would have to rewire it probably & it’s super cool and funky looking.
