Vintage Tube Amp

This is a Vintage 1967 Silvertone Model 1484 Twin Twelve 2×12 Guitar Combo head and cabinet. Silvertone was a trade name of the Sears, Co. This amp was made in the USA by Danelectro. Date was determined by the codes on the two matching original Jensen C12Q speakers (220708) and pot codes (1376701). All the tubes are branded Silvertone and original to the amp with one exception. One of the 12AX7 tubes is a Silvertone from my personal stash. The three preamp 12AX7′s are made in Holland, so Bugle Boy Aperex tubes branded Silvertone? All USA, and HOLLAND made tubes, that test strong on my Hickok 6000a tube tester. This amp is nicer than most of the 1484′s I see for sale. TREMOLO and REVERB, BOTH WORK. The speakers have been professionally reconed and probably do not have 10 hours of play time on them. One of the tube sockets has been replaced (reverb driver). This thing sounds incredible. EVERYTHING works and it includes the footswitch. Clean controls, no scratchy pots. The reverb is just as wild and wacky as everyone says about it. AND YOU GET TO HEAR IT FOR YOURSELF. This amp is so original, the speaker cord is still attached to both the head and cab. That is the first and last time it was serviced. This is an attic find that cleaned up very nicely. There is evidence of deterioration, but for the most part well preserved. Please look at the pictures for condition. Normal aging and patina. One of the knobs has a chip. You can take this out to play a gig the day you get it. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hours recently and it did not fail, smoke, throw sparks, blow fuses, start on fire, etc. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet, handles, knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. Old electronics can fail at any time. This is part of my estate. LOOK AT ALL MY LISTINGS!!! The following is common sense stuff, but needs mentioned. You should not have to live with something you are unhappy with for any reason. If you alter, modify, change or “repair” the item in anyway without my consent, you are accepting the item “as is”, at the price paid. We will work through the claim together until things are right.

You are looking at a Fender Bandmaster Head and cabinet from 1962. Not even caps have been changed to my knowledge. When we opened the cabinet to take pictures it was clear that we were the first to do so. WE didn’t open up the head, but, based on conversations with the previous owner we felt it better to not do so. His back story would confirm that it has never been worked on. It is also safe to say that it hasn’t been played much in the last couple of decades. We did though, and, it sounds beautiful. All original from 1962, original Jensen speakers. Check out the video. Rare pre-Rivera 80 or 81 (only made for two years) Fender 30 tube amp. Rebuilt it and only played for a couple hours. New grill cloth. New wood speaker plate and cloth mount, all wood reglued and restapled. New Jensen 10s. New Fender knobs. New reverb box. Retubed, footswitch rebuilt, general check over by Tonetronix in Hubbard, OH. Please inspect the photos carefully. It is still an old amp and there are imperfections. The amp faceplate behind the switches is a little warped, may have taken a hit at some point. Some of the new tolex is peeling in some spots, i’ve recently restapled a few places. Please let me know if you’d like any detailed photos of anything else. Cash in person or mailed check preferred. Up for sale is an amazing rare gem of an amp by Gibson….. Gibson is revered (and documented) as one of the top two guitar manufacturers in the world, but they are highly underrated as amp makers. This exquisite piece of work is remarkably it’s own animal….. Not really attributable in sound to any of the “big 3″ amp makers: Marshall, Fender or Vox. This amp has a voice all its own, and is very decidedly, well…. The clean is a nice “jazzy clean, ” which I believe is the genre for which this amp was originally made. And the tube complement along with the speakers and the ENORMOUS transformer really gives this amp a nice, warm and huge sound! There is no master volume on this amp, so to get any gain and/or drive, you have to keep turning this 18 watter up until you get the dirt to your taste. If I was to describe the amp’s overdrive in “big 3″ terms, I would describe it as a jangly vox meets a not so dirty Fender tweed amp. It has an excellent sounding onboard tremolo (which is turned on and off with the included 1-button footswitch) The power tubes are not very old. The preamp and other tubes are RCA and are a little older. The power cord/plug is of the safer 3-prong variety, which is always a good thing! This is a very hard to find bird. This girl is trying to find its one in a million home. But if you do, I promise you, you will not regret pulling the trigger on this immediately!
