It uses four 6L6 vacuum tubes for 40 watts per channel of output power. This unit comes with RCA 6L6 power tubes and a rare tube cage. It is in good cosmetic condition – with minor blemishes, scratches, and dents on the transformer covers. The lettering on the top plate is very good, but on one side a lot has rubbed off. The knob on the potentiometer for the mono gain has been cut off. It works perfectly and sounds fantastic! For sale is a pair of MC-60s in good condition. They’ve certainly been enjoyed and they are not perfect, but for the most part, the chrome is free of pitting. These were used sparingly and have had service done over the years, but are still mostly original. Bottom covers have some wear and paint chips. There are also a couple of areas where the mounts are slightly tweaked. The chrome does have scratches and a rust spots, but I would consider them normal for the age. Transformers are mostly clean, but do have scratches. One has some paint overspray on it. It will come off, but I did not fully remove all of it. No dings or dents however. They worked when last used. They were used up until a few years ago, but these will need to be serviced before they are used for any amount of time. The power cords on both are frayed and will need to be replaced or shortened before anything else can be done. You will also need a pair of rectifiers and your choice of power tubes. What you see is what is included and these were the tubes that were in the unit. Please see the photos I’ve taken. I’ve done my best to cover all angles. These truly are nice amplifiers, but I want to be transparent so that there are no surprises. The amplifiers will be boxed and insured separately. They will be carefully packed and I will make sure I’ve done my part to make sure they get to you in the condition they’re in. I sell mostly vintage electronics. As such, these items are old and typically out of spec from when they were new. I do my best to test these items and make sure they work before theyre sent out, but I do not guarantee or represent that they will meet the original specifications. I may not even be able to test them, in which case assume that they dont work and possibly be surprised when they do. However, there are times where I may miss something. If that happens, I hope that you would agree that the most efficient way to take care of an issue is if you simply message me before opening a case or doing anything else. VINTAGE McINTOSH MC240 TWO-CHANNEL TUBE AMPLIFIER. Last used regularly nearly fifteen years ago, this superb stereo amp was replaced when my then new, low efficiency speakers needed a larger amp. When recently brought on-line again (slowly, with a variable power supply, because of the caps) it again sounded great. But now I have moved and must sell it. This is a vintage unit, original and not mint. However, it is in very fine condition (examine pics carefully). There are some fine scratches on the chrome but no rust and no notable damage to the black paint. As can be seen in the pics, the printing is clear and in fine state. This is especially made evident in the photo of the back of the unit. The lettering on the front, with all the connectors, is crisp. The latter, having not been used in a while, could use a good cleaning. The bottom plate does have some scuff marks. This is a very fine looking example of this audiophile quality amplifier. Also, this Mc240 comes with the McIntosh tube cage, which comes up to about the top of the transformers and is in excellent condition. I have had the unit for over 25 years. During that time, it has never been rebuilt or modified, except for tube swaps. To my knowledge the same is true for the period before I bought it from the original owner. This MC240 has 4 6L6GC output power tubes and the usual 12AX7, 12AU7, and 12BH7 drivers. The unit is already wrapped, has been placed into a wooden crate, which in turn is in a heavy-weight, corrugated container with ample cushioning. Tubes have been removed, wrapped, and labeled so as to minimize physical shock during transport. Here is a nice looking a 7.5 or so out of 10 cosmetically McIntosh MC240 stereo power amp. The chrome is mostly shiny with some minor pitting (see photos) also there is one area on the top where there is some more pitting – see the third photo. Inside (please view photos) looks 100% original – you will need to replace some parts to make this reliable the transformers all work and the amp passes signal, (with a slight hum) however one of the power tubes red plates when I fired it up to test (it was on a variac to attempt to reform the caps) I would recommend that this amp be thoroughly gone through by a qualified tech prior to use.
