Vintage Tube Amp

Heathkit AA-151 Vintage Tube Stereo Power Amplifier. I recently picked this up from a local CT estate with some other quality electronics. I’ve only tested this for power. It may be missing one tube in the rear as you can see in the pictures. It is very clean on the inside, no dust or residue at all. Appears to have been lightly used if at all. The Heathkit label is missing from the front and it does have some minor scratches on it. The power cord is clean and in good shape. There is no owners manual with this. I did try it with some JBL’s but got no sound. If there is a trick to connecting 8 ohm speakers please let me know and I’ll try again. Otherwise it may need the missing tube. Nice pair of Vintage W5M Mono block HiFi tube power amps. These were my main amps for a few years after they were fully rebuilt. 30 watts per channel (amp). Cosmetically and electronically excellent and ready to run. These are not full of cheap Russian tubes, but have nice mostly old USA tubes and sound amazing. These are 6L6 based Williamson style amps, and each uses a pair of 12AU7′s in the preamp and driver stages, and a 5R4 tube rectifier. I installed a pilot light in one of them. One has the larger “old” style output transformer, and one has the “new” type. Both are Peerless of course. Some guys say the older larger one has better bass, while some guys say the newer one has special nickel plated laminates and sounds even better with more “clarity”. Read about them on the interweb. I couldn’t tell the difference in everyday use as differences in room. Will have more of an impact, but suit yourself. Any difference is very subtle if even detectable, (and I used large Altec 604-8G studio monitor speakers). This is a very nice 1964 Fender 6G2 Princeton, serial P08161. It came from a fellow who was thinning out his collection. I’m showing it exactly as we received it. I haven’t polished it up or anything like that. It’s a little dusty but will clean up well. The trim is in great shape and all metal components are free of any significant surface-rust. The grill cloth is original and looks great except for the one hole you see in the photos. Aside from the speaker being replaced with a Fender aftermarket unit, it appears to be all original. I haven’t taken the amp out of the cabinet, but I’m assuming it still has all of the original capacitors in place. Please replace these before putting the amp into full-time service. I haven’t checked the tubes, so there’s a chance they should be replaced as well. Aside from that, this one should be good to go! If you prefer one carrier over the other, please make that request when paying for the item. Rest assured, you’ll receive your item in excellent condition! Vintage Fisher 500-C tube FM Stereo receiver in excellent overall condition. Works well with no hum. Very clean chassis and faceplate as it was removed from a custom console; and was acquired from the original owner. Comes with original Service Manual. Inspection tag still on the cord. All brass knob caps are intact. Faceplate printing is great though there are a couple of nicks and scratches on the faceplate. Chassis printing show some wear and tape residue. Power switch works fine. Ive been running it for several days with no issues. All tone, volume & balance controls work fine. FM Stereo Beacon works on Auto; received several stations. Signal strength meter works. Dial illumination works on both sides. Phono and Aux work fine too. Audio is equal on both sides. It has been serviced sometime in its history as I see the black tube is wrapped in tape. I have no idea when the work was done but estimate years since its been last serviced, so plan on having it checked out by a qualified tech for daily use as this unit is well over 50 years old. So, while fully working, it may not be perfect, so consider this a repair or restoration project. I will have a video demonstration video available as proof of function.
