? VINTAGE SCOTT STEREOMASTER 340 FM TUNER TUBE AMPLIFIER??? 1962 Classic w/ Wood Cabinet – FM Tested, As-Is. ?? DETAILED DESCRIPTION??? This is a rare Scott Stereomaster 340 FM Tuner Tube Amplifier, introduced in April 1962 by H. Scott, a pioneer in high-fidelity audio from Maynard, Massachusetts. Known for its champagne/gold finish and distinctive “Captain Nemo-esque” styling, this unit combines the Scott 350 FM multiplex tuner and Scott 299C amplifier into a single chassis, delivering a warm, vintage sound that audiophiles cherish. The intact walnut cabinet, a rare feature often missing in other listings, shows slight looseness but remains in excellent cosmetic condition for its age. The FM tuner has been tested and works as seen in the provided video, producing clear reception with its notable FM sensitivity. Buyers should anticipate potential repairs or restoration, typical for a device of this era. ? CONDITION DETAILS?? Overall Condition: Excellent for its age, especially compared to similar listings-many lack the cabinet, multiple tubes, or don’t function at all. FM Tuner: Tested and working, with great sensitivity. Other Connections: Untested (phono, aux, tape); functionality not guaranteed-repairs/restoration may be needed. Wood Cabinet: Intact but feels slightly loose; still a rare and valuable feature. ? TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS??? WHY IT’S SPECIAL?? Rare Collectible: A piece of audio history from H. Scott, a leader in high-fidelity since 1946, designed during the golden age of hi-fi. Superior Design: Combines a high-sensitivity FM tuner with a robust tube amplifier, delivering warm, rich sound. Unique Features: The “Sonic Monitor” helps identify stereo FM stations, a novelty in 1962 when stereo broadcasts were rare. Excellent Condition: Retains its walnut cabinet unlike many listings that are incomplete or non-functional. ?? A MUST-HAVE FOR VINTAGE AUDIO ENTHUSIASTS!

This Scott 99-C is in fair cosmetic condition. The front panel has some slightly bent corners and is a little dirty, but should clean up nicely. The knobs appear to be original but are certainly worn. One of the transformer casings has paint flaked off and some surface rust in that area. The 6L6GC tubes are from Eastern Europe or China (not sure which), but the the rest are vintage American tubes. Someone has installed some newer capacitors under the chassis, but I don’t know who did that work or when it was done. The amp seems to be playing well and sounds good! Please keep in mind that the tubes have not been individually tested and we cannot guarantee their condition. The bottom line is this… You’ll receive your item on time and in perfect condition regardless of how big, heavy, or delicate your item may be! WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE SALE: You will only receive what is shown in the photographs. If you do not see it in the photos, it is likely not included in the sale. That includes manuals, packaging, power cords, etc. ABOUT US: Our company, Ham & HiFi, is located in Sparks, NV. Everyone in the shop is a ham operator and some have been licensed for more than 50 years.

Being an electronics tech, I see voltages that are way too high for the designed circuit. Nice looking bucking transformer with stainless cover! Turns device and your equipment on or off. You have a choice of 3% or 7% voltage drop. All vintage tube equipment should be using this voltage reducer. Read on; After WWll and up until 1968, household voltages were 117 volts. Typically voltages these days range from 120-125. Your vintage audio equipment was designed to operate around lower voltages of years ago. You might ask yourself what is a few extra volts? Take into account that the power supply in your vintage device is multiplying those few extra volts many times so that the end result could be 20-30-40 volts more than the circuit was designed for. This could lead to transformer failure, component failure and shorter tube life. As you can see in the photo, the voltage reducer brought the line voltage down from 124 to 116. This is approximately a 7% drop. Simply plug your vintage electronics into the reducer outlet. Will work with equipment drawing up to a total of 4 amps. Has protective 4 amp fusing. Metal box is grounded through heavy duty 3 wire power cord. As an example; Photo shows voltage of Dynaco ST-70 at 467v on todays line voltage and then 438v plugged into the voltage reducer. The correct voltage for this Dynaco amp calls for 435v at this point. Also your filament voltage will be more in line with what it should be. All other voltages are much closer to Dynaco factory specifications with the reducer. Your device will run cooler and safer, extending component, transformer and tube life! Please state voltage drop preference when ordering. Strongly recommended for Dynaco St 70, since they were produced with power transformers designed to operate with 117 line voltage. Your transformer will run cooler, tubes will last longer and all voltages will be closer to where they should be!

Scott Amplifier / Power Supply Chassis. Here is a description that I found on the internet that appears to match this item. It may be a late Philharmonic (or Phantom Deluxe) Amp/Power Supply Chassis. It is uncommon in respect to the finish on the power transformer and the plug layout for the speaker connections. I have been told that chrome was in high demand immediately preceding WWII and in the later production years, the PTs were black in some models. If you look at the contours of the power transformer, you will see that it matches the more typical chrome counterparts. The interconnect sockets are rectangular instead of round and accept Jones plugs. This chassis is very similar to a Laureate but with the layout and tube compliment of a Philharmonic(or Phantom Deluxe). This chassis is set up for 5U4G rectifiers and a quad of 6L6G output tubes. Tubes are included what you see is what you get. This particular amplifier appears to have been restored in recent years as it has a new power cord, new electrolytic caps on the bottom of the chassis with the (top) originals left in place (one has a broken phenolic mounting wafer) and a few new capacitors. The underside of the chassis is clean and the wiring looks very nice. The top of the chassis is poor to fair in my opinion, there is moderate pitting on the Chrome chassis, the filter chokes and the cover of the driver transformer look pretty good, please look at the pictures and judge for yourself. The person who we got the amplifier from left the radio chassis and case behind and when he went back for these items per my request, they were long gone. The tubes appear to be as follows. 2 each 5U4GB rectifiers and 4 each 6L6G (or equivalent) output tubes. I suspect this item is probably functional but I have no way to test it. I will package this item carefully in a sturdy box to insure that it arrives in the same physical condition as seen in the pictures. I will remove the 6 tubes and package them in another box and box them with the amplifier. This amplifier / power supply assembly is a fine example of American made high quality radio equipment and was hand built with the state of the art technology of its time and the finest American made parts that were available. The pictures form part of the description.

Scott 800 B Tube Power Amplifier. Original to Scott Console Radio Amp. Push Pull Mono 6L6 Amp. Amp section also contains part of. All tube sockets are conveniently labeled with tube types. Unmolested, does not show any signs I noticed of being worked on. See bottom pic showing insides, wiring, etc. Amp was powered up through a light bulb limiter {60 watt bulb} with no tubes installed, beyond that, no testing has been done. Power cord has been spliced and should be replaced with a 3 prong grounded cord. Keep in mind the standard safety concerns necessary with a tube amp of this vintage that hasn’t been restored. Such as testing with a variac or other limiting device, etc. And replacing out of spec components before powering up to. See pics and ask any questions.
