Vintage Tube Amp

Here is a sweet old gal. The amp has that great George Smith tone. According to Rod Piazza George used one similar for many recordings. It has been recapped with American & German parts only. Tubes are all excellent. The one pre-amp tube up under the control panel is where I put a 12AU7 or any of the other lower gain tubes i. 12AY7, 5814, 6189, 12AZ7, 12AV7. Original speaker in great condition. The only item to note is that the killer tremolo bleeds through a tad without using a footswitch or shorting jack. The fine item you are considering is a Vintage Silvertone Reverberation Twin Twelve 1474 Tube Guitar Amplifier Amp With Footswitch. This neat vintage amp just came out of long storage, so its still a bit dusty despite my cleaning, and when I powered it up, it took a long time to stop clicking and popping, but it eventually did settle down, and it works! The tremolo is working, but the reverb is not, and the reverb tank is loose in the cabinet, although still connected by wires. While the amp is working, it really needs to be gone through, with the contacts, pots and tube sockets cleaned, and the sound Im getting out of the amp, while very Jack White is pretty thin and crunchy and sounds like there are some tubes in there that are having some issues, so some tubes may need to be replaced. I know theres a big argument about replacing caps and the old style two prong plug thats still on this amp, and thats up to the new owner, but I will say that all the popping and clicking Im hearing on power up and for a few minutes afterward are most likely dry caps that need to be replaced. What I believe is the original footswitch is also included, although the ¼ phono plug has been cut off the end of the jack. The power on light is not lighting and the amp shows plenty of typical cosmetic wear, which gives it a very authentic vintage look, and the amp makes a nice overall cosmetic impression. Oh, also, the amp does not have a back cover and comes just as it is in my photos. The amp measures approximately 29 long by 19 ½ tall by 9 deep and both 12 speakers are working. Since this is a vintage amp with very old components and tubes I cannot guarantee that it may not need parts replaced as per my description above. Vintage Silvertone Sears 1484 Piggyback Tube Guitar Amp w/ 2×12 Cab. Make/Model: Silvertone Model 1484 Twin Twelve 60-Watt 2×12 Piggyback. Dimensions: Cab 29″x 21″x 9.5″ Head 24″x 8.5″x 6″. Speakers: 2-12 Jensen Special Design. Weight: 49.4 lbs. Condition: This vintage Silvertone is in good shape with some minor issues. It was manufactured in the mid to late 60′s, the date from the speakers puts it at’66. Everything seems to be in original condition with no known mods, please be sure to inspect all photos closely. One tube was replaced to make the tremolo functional, it is working great. The reverb is barely there, it will need to be serviced. The head is missing a couple adjustment knobs and one parameter display out of another knob, the pots are all present and functioning (see pictures). The cab has a bit of wear, that being scratches, rips, and stains to the tolex (see pictures). There is also some heavier damage to the corners of the cabinet (see pictures). The original 2 prong power cable and speaker cables are still intact. There is some damage to one of the speaker cables that has been covered with electrical tape (see pictures), this does not affect it’s function. This has been completely restored, and looks and sounds simply fantastic: with it’s cool lines, and well thought out design, this HiFi optimizes the classic stylings of the 1950′s. Here it is playing an LP by the Ray Ellis Orchestra! This HiFi was lovingly restored: The cabinet has been recovered in a fantastic 50′s red, black and white, along with new speaker grill cloth in the front. The 4 speed Syntronic record changer has been completely taken apart and redone… This will play LP’s, 78′s and 45′s automatically, you can stack the records, and each one will drop in turn, and shut off when the last record is played! The powerful 6 tube amplifier has also been rebuilt, with all new components: new power cord, all new capacitors and resistors, and gold plated rca ipod input. Has On/Off Volume, Bass, Treble Radio/Phono and Tuning controls on top. This is an awesome little Silvertone model 1430 guitar amp! I believe it is from the early’50s, before Sears put the rubber/plastic handle and changed the nameplate. This thing is so cool! Perfect for intimate shows or studio recording for that real vintage sound! It powers right on and plays well; however there is a light hum in it. Likely an easy fix by a technician. Small tear on the top right front corner. 14″ tall, 13″ across, and 7-1/4 deep. The speaker in it is 6 in diameter. This guitar and amp are very very nice. When got this from the original owners wife, it had a tall nut, the guitar was used for slide guitar, it has literally no fret ware. The original nut was included and is back on the guitar, It plays , sounds and looks excellent. Guitar and tube amp extends a true vintage electric guitar sound. This one is in exceptional condition displaying very little wear. This guitar was used most of its life as a slide guitar, which explains why there is little to no fret wear. You would be hard pressed to find a cleaner example of such a RARE and desirable vintage Danelectro guitar and comes with its original chipboard case. I love this guitar, I really do. And have enjoyed playing it. Volume and tone controls are fully functional. Guitar plays really nice, Sounds great through the amp. Very beautiful vintage finish. This is a really, really nice guitar. Fret board has a great feel. Hard to believe it close to 60′s year old! Amp is very clean. I bought this pair from the estate of the original owner.
