For sale is a vintage, cute. Lafayette LA-214 Tube Stereo Amplifier, EL84/6BQ5 Single-Ended, All Vintage Tubes. I tested the amp (using headphones because the speaker posts are kind of rusty and questionable). All tubes lit up OK but I only get music on LEFT channel, with cracking noise sometimes when I adjust the knobs. Sometimes the signal simply got cut off. So, the electric contacts are not very stable. I then swapped the power tubes, but only had loud hum on the right channel. I stopped my testing right there. So, I believe the amp may have all transformers fine, but needs service/repair to get it back to normal. Not sure about the tubes condition. Physical condition is fair, as you can see in the pictures: rust, discoloration, dust, etc. One screw on the top cover is missing. I have other audio equipment, like. 1 Single-Ended Vintage 45 Tube Amplifier W/ Tamura Output & Power Transformers. Single-ended custom 45 triode tube stereo class A audio amplifier with Tamura transformers. Clean look & design. This hand-built stereo amplifier features A deluxe Tamura power transformer that offers many AC voltage options. See the last picture in the listing of the power transformer. The heavy-duty Tamura power transformer will run all day and not get hot. It is a commercial broadcast-grade transformer. These are not made today and are from the 1960s. No transformer built today can match this quality. Chassis size is 17″ x 10 X 3″. Bud brand heavy all steel chassis to better support the transformers. ElectroCube audio grade Mylar capacitors. Point to point hand wiring, with no circuit boards that are difficult to repair and often go bad. If other sellers do not show under the chassis it may be because they use overseas circuit boards. Two gain controls — one for left and one for the right hand. These are Alpha professional brand studio audio gain controls. With one for each channel, you can use them as a balance control only better. As you do not need a preamplifier to accomplish this function. Top of the line Tamura brand power transformer — The Tamura power transformer in this amplifier is a 1960 vintage. It has a large heavy copper band shield around the windings to eliminate hum. It is one of the best power transformers ever made. If they were to reproduce a transformer of this quality today, the cost would be no less than 300.00. Many power transformers just meet the minimun amperage requirement so they get very hot. Not with this Tamura transformer it is a commercial-grade unit and can run all day and just get warm. The last picture is of the transformer used in this amplifier. You can see the large copper band and the quality construction. Check out our entire store for more great products and deals!
