1960 Fender Tremolux vintage tube amplifier chassis no. 02788 with 5G9 18 watt circuit. Reconditioned Jensen P12Q 12 speaker (not original but appropriate for this amp vintage). Amp has been professionally reconditioned by D. R Zink and has the following reconditioning details. 3 prong AC cord, all (Astron and Sprague NOS) capacitors, 1 5U4GB (RCA NOS), 2 6V6 GT (TungSol NOS), 2 12AX7 (TungSol NOS), 1 12AY7 (Electro Harmonix Gold NOS), 1-25 kOhm bias pot w/ 56k resistor. Transformers are in-specification original. Original grill and badge. Recovered tweed meticulously installed and aged to match back panel. Original knobs, chassis and cabinet. Transformer coding, chassis serial no. Internal chassis letter coding all date this amp as produced April of 1960 (see coding pictures). The power transformer coding is not legible but is original per Inspection by reconditioning specialist. I have owned this amplifier since the 80s. It sat around for years before reconditioning. Up for sale, a 1968 Sunn 2000s vintage tube bass amplifier head paired with a Sunn 2×15 speaker cabinet in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The brainchild of Norm Sundholm, bass player for the Kingsmen, and his brother Conrad, the Sunn company was birthed out of the need for gear that reproduced powerful, rich clean tones that could compete on the world’s largest stages (not the least of which was Woodstock, where Sunn supplied the backline). The Sunn 2000S led that charge in the bass world, and the hi-fi clarity and sweet warmth of this all tube bass head is oft-copied but rarely replicated. With absolutely massive transformers and a dual rectified four 6550 powered circuit, this 2000S head powers a vintage Sunn 2×15 speaker cabinet with a pair of Gauss drivers. These highly efficient and powerful speakers do a great job of amplifying that signature Sunn sound, and the thick, clear low end reproduced by these speakers is a known quantity in the bass world. The list of Sunn bass amp users is prolific and includes Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, John Entwistle, and Noel Redding. This 2000s head has been recently serviced, with a complete and professional recap of the power supply, as well as a modern three-prong power cable. The power tubes are a fresh quad of Tung Sol 6550s which been properly biased for optimal headroom and life. The rest of the tube compliment consists of a pair of NOS 5V4 rectifiers and dual triodes from the likes of Amperex and General Electric. The original CTS pots and pair of chokes have date codes from early 1968, and both transformers are made by Dynaco. While the output transformer is the more conventional Dynaco style seen in Sunn amps, the power transformer is an arguably earlier example that could very well be original as well, although the cosmetic differences between the two transformers are notable. Regardless, the 2000s is designed to be powered by Dynaco iron, and these transformers sound incredible. The speaker cab was produced a few years later than the head, with a slightly different style of original grillcloth, although it pairs very well with the head and features the same rough, dark gray tolex. This is the later iteration of the 200s cab, with the larger side port and front mounted speakers. Both the head and cabinet retain their original hardware including handles, corners, and casters. Cosmetically, both head and cabinet have been thoroughly cleaned, with only light scuffs and nicks on the two enclosures, and moderate aging of the grillcloth. The original metal Sunn logos are both present as well. This stack is massive, classic, and ready to head back out on the road or find a home in the studio! They are getting more rare. Get it now and it’s yours. No more I knew I should have spent that 80 dollars more than I wanted to. It would be sitting here now. I don’t play guitar anymore, Or I’d hold onto it another ten years when it was worth more than I’m asking now. It’s a1962 Harmony guitar amplifier in great condition. They were both in mint shape when I bought them in 1982. I only used the amp for about two hours total. I bought an accoustic shortly after and never really learned to play guitar. The amp just sat. It’s got a couple stains on the front from something. Not sure whatever caused them. Over time they just seem to have gotten a little worse. The cloth is in excellent shape as is the whole amp with a 10 Jensen speaker. Even the handle is like new. You won’t be disappointed.
