A Fantastic Addition To Any Vintage Collection. Power output: 40 watts per channel into 8? (stereo). Frequency response: 10Hz to 50kHz. Total harmonic distortion: 0.5%. Input sensitivity: 1.3V. Signal to noise ratio: 90dB. Speaker load impedance: 4? To 16? Semiconductors: 12 x transistors, 10 x diodes. Dimensions: 14 x 8 x 4 inches. The Dynaco Stereo 80 is an all silicon transistor basic power amplifier for use with separate preamplifiers such as the Dynaco PAT-4 or PAT-5 or for use with tape recorders or tuners such as the Dynaco FM-5 which have their own volume controls. The unit contains two 40 watt amplifiers on one chassis with a common power supply. It has been designed to be used under normal conditions without special safety precautions, just as if it were a high grade tube amplifier. There are no circuit breakers, speaker fuses, or other resettable devices to impede the use of the Stereo 80 under any reasonable conditions of use or abuse. This is achieved by using novel circuits (on which patents are pending) which automatically and instantly protect the amplifier. The components are of the highest quality to protect against failure, both now and for many years in the future. All parts are used conservatively with close tolerances to assure proper operation, and etched circuit modules are pretested under actual use conditions to ensure that every unit, after assembly, will meet the specifications normally associated with laboratory prototypes. The specifications of the Stereo 80 speak for themselves. The distortion at low levels is comparable to that of the finest tube designs, while the high power distortion remains inaudible. This was in my uncles house. I have no way of testing it. I will do my best to answer your questions.

As always, these amps are wonderful but too bad I’m limited in space so I can’t keep all the gear I find! See photos for physical condition of the outside and inside of the amp. FYI, the mono switch is noisy if engaged, and the power switch can cause a small pop if not flipped quickly. They both will eventually need to be replaced but I don’t have the time. Restoration included: HIGH quality F&T electrolytic caps; new coupling caps for the driver board; replaced the selenium rectifier with a diode, and added diodes prior to the rectifier tube for added power supply stability. Swapped out the 7199s with a pair of 6UA8s from Tube Depot back in June. Probably have 10 hours on them. Tubes are not guaranteed as I don’t have a tube tester. Tubes included are 4 mixed EL-34s, and 2 6UA8s, Tung Sol GZ34. Here’s video of the actual unit in my system. Photos demonstrate the physical condition. I’m in Palm Springs, CA 92262.

Here is a nice Eico HF-85 stereo tube preamplifier. It is in good condition for its age despite some marks on the front panel and retains all 5 of its original Mullard 12ax7a tubes. These are getting more and more rare to find and this one looks like a great candidate for refurb!

EICO HF-81 Stereo Tube Amplifier with All Vintage Tubes, with EL84/6BQ5 in Output. Watch it in operation with music from Pro-Ject turntable on Youtube. All tubes are vintage and all included; some are Mullard etc. I provided some pictures to show the circuitry under the chassis. I plugged it in wall voltage of 120V and the amp worked fine and produced great and balanced music in both channels as shown in the video. Since this amp is very old, it may need services before daily use. At least, the new owner should have some professional to go over it. I did notice the following issues. The fuse holder is bit loose. At times, I had to re-tighten the fuse to power it up. The shaft of TREBLE control pot can be pushed in if you re-install the knobs on it. I inserted a small piece of hard foam behind it (inside the chassis) so it’s fixed, for now. I felt some of the contacts or wirings are not 100% secured. I once pulled out one tube shield and incidentally brushed on something (didn’t know what), causing the left channel silent. That channel recovered by itself a few minutes later. I couldn’t find out the cause. That’s why it’s very good idea to have a professional to service it so you can really enjoy it. Physical condition is really good for the age, much better than many others showed up for sale. The front is beautiful; all knobs are original. Chassis is pretty clean. Meshed cover is good. There may be some screws missing in the bottom plate. Overall, this is a beauty to me. I have other audio equipment, like.
