1 Single-Ended Vintage 45 Tube Amplifier W/ Tamura Output & Power Transformers. Single-ended custom 45 triode tube stereo class A audio amplifier with Tamura transformers. Clean look & design. This hand-built stereo amplifier features A deluxe Tamura power transformer that offers many AC voltage options. See the last picture in the listing of the power transformer. The heavy-duty Tamura power transformer will run all day and not get hot. It is a commercial broadcast-grade transformer. These are not made today and are from the 1960s. No transformer built today can match this quality. Chassis size is 17″ x 10 X 3″. Bud brand heavy all steel chassis to better support the transformers. ElectroCube audio grade Mylar capacitors. Point to point hand wiring, with no circuit boards that are difficult to repair and often go bad. If other sellers do not show under the chassis it may be because they use overseas circuit boards. Two gain controls — one for left and one for the right hand. These are Alpha professional brand studio audio gain controls. With one for each channel, you can use them as a balance control only better. As you do not need a preamplifier to accomplish this function. Top of the line Tamura brand power transformer — The Tamura power transformer in this amplifier is a 1960 vintage. It has a large heavy copper band shield around the windings to eliminate hum. It is one of the best power transformers ever made. If they were to reproduce a transformer of this quality today, the cost would be no less than 300.00. Many power transformers just meet the minimun amperage requirement so they get very hot. Not with this Tamura transformer it is a commercial-grade unit and can run all day and just get warm. The last picture is of the transformer used in this amplifier. You can see the large copper band and the quality construction. Check out our entire store for more great products and deals! USES 2 EL34, 1 12AU7, 1-EF86 AND A 5U4GB RECTIFIER. WHATS ESPECIALLY GOOD ON THIS ONE IS THE THORDARSON T-54834 HI FI OUTPUT TRANSFORMER. AND THE THORDARSON POWER TRANSFORMER AND POWER SUPPLY CHOKE. THIS WAS PULLED FROM A MID 50′S CUSTOM CONSOLE. WHOEVER BUILT THIS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. IT WILL NEED RECAPPING BEFORE USE. I WILL GUARANTEE THE TRANSFORMERS TO BE GOOD BUT NOTHING BEYOND THAT. ALL TUBES ARE INCLUDED. MULLARD EL34′S AND THE REST AMERICAN OLD STOCK TUBES. It is one of the best power transformers ever made. If they were to reproduce a transformer of this quality today, the cost would be no less than 300.00. I took a picture of one of these transformers before I painted it so you can see the super quality. Surplus Military steel off/on light fixture. This amplifier offers input voltages of 240, 220, 120, 110, and 100 volts. Superior speaker 3 way connector. Solid copper buss bar ground strap wire. High voltage US Military grade surplus Amphenol tube sockets, that will last forever, Not the ones from China that fall apart with normal use. Clean chassis look not a bunch of screws and washers holding the tube sockets. These sockets are vintage NOS Military grade with clips under the chassis to hold them in place. High quality set screw knobs Not the cheap plastic push on knobs you see on most modern audio. This is the best sounding amplifier available anywhere, Single ended with Tamura transformers. The 45 tube is the most musical tube ever invented, Beautiful clean clear highs and warm but very crisp bass. You will notice the difference the second it comes on. Audio collectors have ask that I use the ultimate Tamura power transformer that have many input AC voltages, so I built this special amp for you. This power transformer is so heavy built I can run the amplifier all day and the transformer just gets warm. Each of these Class A 45 triode single-ended amplifiers I custom build, is a little different. NO TWO ARE THE IDENTICAL. Some are different colors and may use other vintage parts. The amplifiers I build all have the same incredible circut, design, and sound, but like a painting they are done by hand, and no two are identical. I do not get these from a factory they are all hand built. I have been building and enjoying my homemade amplifiers for many years. It is a fun hobby, because I can use some. The best parts that were ever available regardless of what year these parts were produced. Like in this amplifier, I might use tubes from the 1930′s, transformers from the 1960′s, tube sockets from the 1940′s, and modern top quality Alpha brand gain controls. I only hand wire point to point connections in my shop my self. The other reason I build my own amplifiers is I can use some of the best triode output tubes ever made, in combination with a single-ended Class A output design. I can build Amplifiers that were never available for mass production. I also use low-mu triode tubes for sound quality, and to lower the chance of micro phonics like Brook and Fisher did in some of their best quality studio laboratory amplifiers. I use new Alpha gain controls for each channel. That way they can act like a left & right balance control only better. This is the best watt I have ever listened to”, “. Only one way to describe the sound of this amplifier: breathtaking. Great sounding amp Good packing Excellent service Thank you!!! Amp has superb build and sound transparency that reveals deeper layers of music. This amplifier will put out about 1-1/2 watts per side to 8-ohm speakers (remember it is the first watt that counts). To make this amplifier sound best you should run efficient 8-ohm vintage speakers, like Klipsch, JBL Tannoy, Jensen, Altec and other speakers rated around 20 watts or less. My son runs a pair of Klipsch Heresy with his identical amplifier and it has the power to spare. This amplifier will not rattle the windows with power, but at normal listening levels it will amaze you, and fill a room with plenty of great sound. These transformers give my amplifiers that magical sound that no other amplifier can match and you can only get from Class A Triode single-ended design. Tamura no longer makes these transformers and the ones I used in this amplifier were made back in the 1960′s. These are hand wound inner-leaved permalloy output transformers, and they produce a magical sound that you cannot get from any other transformers. The output transformers are designed for 8-ohm efficient speakers. Sellers that tell you that it does not matter what ohms speakers you connect to their amplifiers are wrong. You should only connect the proper ohm speakers to the corresponding connection. These Tamura output transformers have a 5000-ohm primary which is perfect for the SE 45 tubes. Some sellers will say you can use several different numbered output tubes in their amplifiers. If that were true transformer manufactures would not need to build transformers to match up with the exact output tubes, they could just make a couple of output transformers that would work for many tubes. A 2A3 tube amplifier should have a primary transformer that is 2500 ohms. The 45 tube requires a 5,000 ohm output transformer. You cannot have a output transformer that would be the perfect match for a 45 and at the same time a perfect match for a 2A3 tube. It would be a bad mismatch for either the 45 or the 2A3 or maybe both. When you match up the correct Tamura output transformer to the correct triode tube you get those crystal clear highs and the very clean bass punch you have been looking for. My custom amplifier projects start off as raw Bud brand metal chassis that I punch out, then sand and finish. I round and shape the corners so they are smooth. This amp is all hand wired. You will enjoy the heavy, quality feel of this amp, the smooth rounded edges on the chassis, and the quality hardware nuts & bolts using lock washers securing the parts. It takes me about one week to build one of these from start to finish, and longer to source the vintage top quality parts I want to use. This amplifier comes with the used. MADE IN THE USA tubes you see in the picture I DO NOT USE THE CHINESE NOCK OFF TUBES. The tube lineup is two 45 triode tubes, two 6SN7 tubes, and one 6AX5 rectifier. You may someday want to upgrade to new or more expensive tubes and I will leave that to the new owners. Thanks for the read. I noticed most of the sellers of single ended triode class A amplifiers do not show the wiring under the chassis. I do show under my chassis so you can see that there are no circuit boards in my amplifiers. I use just simple point to point wiring. Each part is easy to identify, and would be easy to repair if ever it went bad. I build these amplifiers so they will hold they’re value and last a life time. The circuit board electronics with Chinese parts as you know will not hold they’re value or last. Rare Vintage Pair Of Large Output Transformers From Quad 7591 Tube Amp Amplifier

You can do a Google search on this amplifier to get more information about it. These output transformers are gigantic, heavy, and very impressive. I also understand that a matched pair like this is quite rare. I have also provided pictures of the various wires associated with both transformers and a description of the resistance values across these wires (see the Description below). DESCRIPTION OF THE TRANSFORMERS. Each one weighs approx. 5 pounds and is approx. All dimensions and the above-listed weight are approximate as noted above. Check out the photo of the transformers next to a 12AX7 tube (tube not included) which shows just how huge these transformers are! Both of these transformers have the same numbers/letters on the bottom as shown in the photos. These numbers/letters are: 51-58 and 138026. I was told that the 138 in the 138026 number means that the transformers were made by Stancor. However, I dont know if this is correct or not and I do not know what these numbers mean. Cosmetically, the photos show the transformers from all angles and please feel free to check the photos out in detail. Both of the transformers look good for their age in my view as the photos show. The transformers do have a number of scrapes, nicks, dings, pits, scratches, missing paint, scuffs, etc. On especially on the tops of both transformers which have some scrapes, etc. Also, the wires coming from the transformers have some dirt, residue, nicks, scrapes, spots, etc. On them, with the wires being of different lengths as shown in the photos. However, in my opinion, the transformers do look good for their age and have a very impressive appearance. Each transformer has 7 wires coming out of it. There are two groups of wires coming out of each transformer. The FIRST GROUP of Wires involves: (1) a BLUE WIRE (wire A in the photos); (2) a STRIPED (wire B in the photos); and(3) a RED WIRE (wire C in the photos). The SECOND GROUP of wires involves: (1) a BLACK WIRE (wire D in the photos); (2) a BROWN WIRE (wire E in the photos); (3) a GREEN WIRE (wire F in the photos); and (4) a YELLOW WIRE (wire G in the photos). I measured the resistance across these wires using an ohm-meter and I obtained the following results (see the photos). FIRST GROUP OF WIRES. (1) Resistance across the BLUE WIRE A and the STRIPED WIRE B = 188 ohms. (2) Resistance across the STRIPED WIRE B and the RED WIRE C = 90 ohms; and. (3) Resistance across the RED WIRE C and the BLUE WIRE A = 98 ohms. SECOND GROUP OF WIRES. (1) Resistance across the BLACK WIRE D and the BROWN WIRE E = 0.4 ohms. (2) Resistance across the BLACK WIRE D and the GREEN WIRE F = 0.7 ohms; and. (3) Resistance across the BLACK WIRE D and the YELLOW WIRE G = 0.9 ohms. All of the above-listed resistance values are approximate and rounded to the nearest ohm. Also, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the above-listed resistance readings. They would make a great addition to any vintage electronic collection. Feel free to check it out! They should therefore not be considered connect and use items. I have not done anything to these transformers and all of their parts, wiring, and components. The above-described transformers may have been worked on by someone else in the past, but I dont know whether this is true or not. No other items are included. However, I do not know how much repair work, parts, components, wiring work/replacement, etc. However, I will do my best to try and prevent these situations when I pack this equipment although I cannot guarantee that they wont happen. It is therefore important and necessary that both of these transformers (along with all of their parts, wiring, and components) be examined thoroughly by an electronic expert inside and out before these transformers are operated, tested, worked on, repaired, connected to any speaker(s), connected to any amplifier(s), connected to any other equipment, modified, disassembled, handled, and/or used. Any repairs to these transformers (and all of their parts, wiring, and components), as well as the connection of the transformers to any speakers(s), amplifier(s), other equipment, etc. And the use of these transformers and all of their parts, wiring, and components should only be attempted by an electronic expert. Furthermore, I cannot guarantee or warrant that your ohm-meter will provide the same resistance values associated with the transformers that my meter provided as outlined above. I have no idea whether everything is original or not in the above-listed transformers and I therefore cannot make any warranties regarding originality. I also do not warrant that these transformers are complete and I do not know if there are any missing parts, components, wiring, etc. The item “RARE VINTAGE PAIR OF LARGE OUTPUT TRANSFORMERS FROM QUAD 7591 TUBE AMP AMPLIFIER” is in sale since Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
