1956 Fender Champ Tweed 5F1 Narrow Panel Vintage Tube Guitar Amp 6 Jensen

Up for sale, a 1956 Fender Champ in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A transitional model, this early 5F1 circuit Champ is a very rare iteration with a narrow panel enclosure, 6 speaker, and 5E1 tube chart from the Champ’s previous circuit designation. With a bit more splat and looseness than the later 8 speaker-equipped Champs, the hallmarks of the 5F1 circuit are still evident with this amp. It’s a simple and elegant circuit that drives a single 6V6 power tube for everything from snappy cleans (with a single coil) to thick overdriven bark (achieved easily even at low settings on the dial with a P-90 or humbucker). There’s nothing that can match the rich dynamic sizzle of a 5F1 Champ, an essential studio tool that always punches well above its weight on a track. The circuit features the original Triad power transformer, with an output transformer of similar vintage with the correct output characteristics and size, yet not original to the amp. The original pot and jacks are present too, and the circuit has been rebuilt with premium preamp and power supply caps and all carbon comp resistors. The chassis retains much of the original white silkscreen lettering and stock chicken head knob too, with minor pitting on the chrome faceplate. The original Stackpole pot is present, and the era-correct Jensen speaker has a clean frame and original foil sticker on the alnico magnet. The speaker has also been recently reconed, guaranteed to handle the full tonal spectrum that the circuit delivers. The “FL” stamp on the tube chart translates to December of 1956, and the chart itself is very clean, still retaining the 5E1 circuit designation of the previous Champ iteration (a very common occurrence in Fenders of this era). The tubes are all vintage valves including a General Electric 6V6 power tube and 5Y3 rectifier. Cosmetically, the original lacquered tweed is well cared for with modest ambering, some fraying at the right front corner, and a bit of staining on the bottom of the enclosure, which retains the original four nail in feet. Both back panels are original as well as the baffle, which retains the original oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe, while the leather handle is a modern replacement. This very early 5F1 circuit Champ is clean, recently serviced, and equipped with a 6 vintage Jensen speaker. 1959 Fender Princeton Tweed Vintage Tube Amp Narrow Panel Big Box 5F2 Circuit

Up for sale, a 1959 Fender Princeton in excellent condition and in perfect working order. With its narrow panel configuration, this Princeton is considered the “big box” version, with a cab that’s far larger than the single 8 alnico speaker requires, and the resulting sound is deceptively round and rich for the relatively small speaker size. The circuit couldn’t be more simple and pure, with single Volume and Tone knobs and a Class A circuit design, powered by a single 6V6 power tube. The tone is articulate, dynamic and commanding, with the sizzle and churning overdrive of a Champ, but with more tonal range and fuller low end. The top end response is just right, and the amp doesn’t get too trebly, making the tone control quite usable for dialing in exactly as much zing and snap as you desire. The circuit is very original and serviced as necessary for optimal functionality, retaining the original transformer pair, with a Schumacher power transformer that dates to the 49th week of’59. The original Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and a couple blue Ajax capacitors are intact, with the pots dating to the 52nd week of 1959. The power supply caps and smaller electrolytics have been replaced with high quality modern Samwha and Sprague caps. The tubes are all vintage valves with a Bogen-branded USA-made 6V6, and RCA-made 5Y3 rectifier and 12AX7 tubes. The speaker is an era-correct Oxford 8 driver which has been professionally reconed, with a very clean gray frame and wiring harness with RCA end. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet. There is notable ambering of the original tweed, with a few bald corners and modest scuffing on the enclosure edges. The faceplate is quite clean, with the majority of the white silkscreened text, shiny chrome, and a pair of original chicken head knobs. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 2015 Vintage 47 VA-185G Classic Series 1×12 combo tube amp in near mint condition and in perfect working order. The EH-185 was made famous in the late 1930s and early’40s by guitar greats such as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian, and the amp delivers a distinctive low gain harmonic-rich overdrive with the complex midrange character of an octal valve-driven preamp. In addition to nailing the sonics of the original, the Vintage 47 rounds out the period-correct aesthetics with a lacquered tweed-covered cabinet bisected by a red racing stripe, central rear-mounted chassis with Gibson-style graphics, chicken head knobs, and a leather handle. The VA-185G is simplicity at its finest, and the point-to-point wired circuit boasts individual Volume and Tone controls for the single channel design, with dual 1/4 Instrument jacks and a lower gain 1/4 Mic input. The tube compliment includes a pair of JJ 6L6 power tubes in a Class AB push pull configuration for 15 sweet, all-tube watts. The power tubes are cathode biased (no biasing required), and a GZ34 rectifier, 6SN7 inverter, and a NOS metal jacketed 6SQ7 round out the tube compliment. The speaker is the original Tone Tubby alnico magnet 12 driver, with a clean black frame and V47 foil sticker on the magnet. Cosmetically, this combo tube amp is in near mint condition. The finger-jointed baltic birch cabinet is covered in lacquered tweed, which is clean as can be, and the silkscreening on the control panel is perfectly preserved with a pair of red chicken head knobs. A fitted cover is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1958 Fender Deluxe Tweed Vintage Tube Amp 5E3 Circuit, Factory Brown/Oxblood

Up for sale, a 1958 Fender Deluxe in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A golden era narrow panel “tweed” amp with an incredibly detailed and dynamic range of tones, this amp is a true rarity, featuring a Fender factory retolex in early pinkish-brown rough brown tolex circa 1961. Sitting squarely in the realm of “go find another, ” this Deluxe has a distinct visual appearance and all the raucous, touch-sensitive overdrive and sweet harmonic richness that defines the 5E3 model and narrow panel era of Fender Tweed production. At low volumes this Deluxe can deliver sparkling cleans that are round and powerful, with two distinctly voiced channels that overdrive beautifully. There’s plenty of rich roar and sizzle on tap when the amp is pushed to its max, and the single tone knob has ample range for sculpting the low end or adding treble zing. Especially when connecting the two channels with a small jumper 1/4 cable, the interactive pair of Volume controls can dial in everything from fully saturated snarl to particularly sweet, buzzy qualities with ideal midrange bite that you often times can’t coax out of any other Tweed circuit. This amp reacts well to a host of effects pedals and different guitars, but truly shines with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, using your volume knob to govern clean rhythm tones and singing leads with the twist of a knob. The circuit is extremely original, with stock Triad transformers and CTS pots that date to the 37th week of 1957. The power transformer retains its original windings, and the output transformer has been recently rewound to original spec. The preamp retains three of the famed yellow Astron capacitors, giving the circuit a certain sweetness that no modern cap can match. The power amp has been professionally recapped with F&T capacitors and a few of the smaller electrolytics have been upgraded as well and fitted in the original Minimite sleeves for a clean, vintage look. The tubes include a matched pair of RCA 6V6s with a 5Y3 rectifier and USA-made valves in the preamp too. The power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong. The speaker is a modern Jensen P12Q with a green frame and alnico magnet construction closely matching’50s Jensen spec. The tube chart is intact and extremely clean, with paper that is only lightly faded, crisp corners, and an “HA” code, dating the amp to January of 1958 (the latest date on the amp). The chrome on the chassis still has plenty of shine, and much of the original white silkscreen lettering is still present on the panel, along with stock chicken head knobs. A new leather handle has been installed, retaining the original fasteners. The rough brown tolex is in great shape, and this distinctive tolex tint and texture has never been replicated since Fender’s original use from 1960-63. Both back panels are original as well, along with the Oxblood gold stripe grillcloth on the stock baffle. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions!
