Cool old Gibson Explorer GA-18 amplifier. I had my amp tech go through and restore this baby so. It is not all original but it is still pretty nice and sounds good. Work done to this amp. New Tubes, New Power Transformer (vintage Triad), New Footswitch and cable. New power cable, wood back panel is not original. The Speaker is a 1961 Jensen C10Q / Reconed. This Guitar Amplifier is Tweed de-luxe style amplifier (clone) with the famous 5e3 hand wired circuit. Handbuilt by myself, I have been building Amplifiers of all types since about 1968. Please note that the name Tweed Deluxe 5E3 is a Fender product, this is similar, designed to recreate the classic sound and feedback potential of the late’50s. Great pride is taken in the design of each amplifier and I take pride in using USA parts wherever possible. All wiring is hand done of course and the end result has been tested and tuned over a period of months to ensure reliability. All feeds to the tube heating elements are twisted and tucked into the corners of the chassis. All other wiring is carefully placed and shielded as well to avoid noises. End result is a beautiful tone, whether you want mellow or crank it up and play some Jimi Hendrix, have at it. It breaks up nicely when driven, great distortion and feedback if desired. This is a LOUD Amp. By the way, I saw Jimi in Chicago in August of 1967, blew my mind and I have been playing with amps ever since. Vintage 1954 Fender Champ Amp 5C1 Tweed Valve Tube Amplifier. A very special piece of history right here. We bought this straight from the USA on a trip we made. It is a 1954 Fender Champ amp, model 5C1. These are really special amplifiers, and extremely rare to find in Europe. This is completely original, including the original cable, as pictured. You’ll not find a better internal example than this. There are some scuffs throughout, as pictured, most notably on the underneath where the tweed is missing. Here we have a fantastic custom made reproduction of a late 50s Fr 5F1 Champ Amplifier. This was hand made here in the USA. Hammond power transformer and Classic Tone output transformer made in the USA. WGS Warehouse Guitar Speakers Veteran 10 inch speaker. Also available is a Jensen C10Q reissue. I personally prefer the warmth of the WGS but you may prefer the brightness of the Jensen. You choose which speaker you want. These are 8 ohm speakers as the amp is wired for 8 ohms. Is a larger finger jointed pine with plywood baffles, all covered in laquered tweed. The tubes are all hand picked vintage American. Not only is this amp beautiful to look at, it sounds fantastic just like one of the best from the 50s. The Fer badge on the front is for appearance only as this was not actually built by Fendr. Up for sale, a 1959 Fender Deluxe in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A golden era narrow panel tweed amp with an incredibly detailed and dynamic range of tones, this amp is loaded with a full compliment of vintage tubes. At low volumes this Deluxe can deliver sparkling cleans that are round and powerful, with two distinctly voiced channels that overdrive beautifully. There’s plenty of rich roar and sizzle on tap when the amp is pushed to its max, and the single tone knob has ample range for sculpting the low end or adding treble zing. Especially when connecting the two channels with a small jumper 1/4 cable, the interactive pair of Volume controls can dial in everything from fully saturated snarl to particularly sweet, buzzy qualities with ideal midrange bite that you often times can’t coax out of any other Tweed circuit. This amp reacts well to a host of effects pedals and different guitars, but truly shines with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, using your volume knob to coax clean rhythm tones and singing leads with the twist of a knob. The circuit is virtually untouched, with original transformers, undisturbed solder joints, and CTS pots that date to the 6th week of 1959. Of course all of the famed yellow Astron capacitors are present in the preamp as well, giving the amp a certain sweetness that no modern cap can match. The power amp has been professionally recapped, and the new F&T capacitors are fitted in the original Minimite sleeves for a clean, original look. The tubes include a matched pair of Serviceman 6V6s with a General Electric 5Y3 rectifier and USA-made valves in the preamp too. The original gray two-prong power cable is also present. The stock Jensen P12R alnico 12 speaker is present and has a clean teal frame, stock bell cover and Jensen label. On the edge of the frame, the speaker has a 220847 date code for the 47th week of 1958. The tube chart is intact and extremely clean, with paper that is barely faded, crisp corners, and an “IC” code, dating the amp to March of 1959 (the latest date on the amp). The chrome on the chassis is particularly clean, with all of the original white lettering present on the faceplate, along with stock chicken head knobs. Even the original handle is included and unbroken with only a bit of fraying on the ends. The original tweed is intact and notably well kept, with only minor wear on the corners, and a bit of light staining and a stray cigarette burn or two on the top. The back panels are modern replacements, carefully aged to match the original tweed on the enclosure. This is a remarkably clean and stock 1959 Tweed Deluxe that will please discerning collectors and serious studio players alike! Few circuits are more desired and emulated than the narrow panel Tweed 5E3, and this first-year narrow panel model delivers everything you’d expect from a classic and well cared for amp from the last iteration of the Tweed line. Incredibly dynamic and harmonically rich, the Deluxe can be glassy and clear at low volumes, but for most players the magic is in this amp’s overdrive capabilities. Especially when connecting the two channels with a small jumper 1/4 cable, the interactive pair of Volume controls can dial in everything from fully saturated roar and snarl, to the particular sweet buzzy qualities with ideal midrange bite that you often times can’t coax out of any other Tweed circuit. This amp reacts well to a host of effects pedals and different guitars, but truly shines with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, using your volume knob to coax clean rhythm tones and singing leads with the twist of a knob. The preamp is very original and only maintained as strictly necessary, balancing originality and functionality. The original Stackpole pots (dating to the 3rd week of’55) and carbon comp resistors are intact, as well as all of the original red dynamite Astron tone caps. The power amp has been professionally recapped as well, and the new caps have been sleeved in the original Mighty Midget wrappers for a seamless vintage look. The amp is loaded with a combination of newer and vintage valves, and all tubes have been tested and work optimally. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen P12Q alnico 12 speaker with a clean teal frame and Jensen sticker. This speaker dates to 1962, and features a new speaker harness with cloth covered wire and Switchcraft 1/4 jack. The other most pertinent date code is the “EJ” stamp on the very clean tube chart, which translates to October of’55. The serial number stamped on the chassis also matches the hand-serialized tube chart. The chrome on the chassis is quite clean, with minimal pitting and the original white silkscreen text present along with stock chicken head knobs. In similar condition, the original tweed covering and oxblood grillcloth show only light wear on the edges of the enclosure, with modest ambering of the lacquer on the tweed, and some requisite minor scuffs and corner wear. Both back panels are modern replacements courtesy of MojoTone, carefully aged to match the original tweed on the rest of the amp. This Deluxe is an example that will satisfy collectors and serious players alike, and the amp has recently been given a clean bill of health, ready for your next gig or studio session. 1960 Fender Tweed Champ, was Claptons main studio amp for Derek and the Dominos masterpiece Layla. A real classic not only for practicing, but also very popular in studios. A lot of history in this small amp. Past owner(s) rewired & changed the speaker, caps & resistors, and maybe retweeted a long time ago but the wood box is original and the back covers are not.
