Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Bassman in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An early iteration of the “Piggyback” version of this amplifier with rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth, this Brownface Bassman drives two vintage General Electric 6L6GC power tubes for 40 powerful watts of pure tube goodness. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge range and after around 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive that compresses noticeably and sounds great. It’s the kind of natural tube saturation that only comes from pushing a well designed Fender circuit to its limit. A Pre-CBS Fender Blonde Bassman was used on more Beatles recording sessions than the Vox AC30, was a particular favorite of Pete Townshend, and has become the amp forever linked with Brian Setzer’s classic Rockabilly tones. It’s hard to beat the Bassman for a tone that bridges the gap between the warmth and nuance of the Brownface circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Blackface line! The circuit is very original and has been well maintained and recently serviced with fresh filter caps and a modern three-prong power cable. All of the famed blue Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp, with stock Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and cloth wire. All of the Schumacher transformers are original with mid 1962 date codes. The output transformer dates to the 17th week of’62, while the power transformer dates to the 20th week of that year. The tube chart is mostly intact too. The tube compliment includes a pair of vintage General Electric 6L6GC power tubes that have been properly biased, and the preamp tubes are mostly vintage valves as well from the likes of RCA and General Electric. The speaker cabinet is a rare transitional small box design that has the same dimensions as the 1×12 Tone Ring cab that preceded it, along with the internal “fins” on the back panel and a partial central divider on the original baffle. Fitted with a pair of vintage Jensen C12N speakers, these drivers are an optimal pairing for the 6G6B Bassman circuit, and while these speakers aren’t original, they do date to early 1964 and are the same make and model used in many’60s Bassmans. Cosmetically, this is an excellent and well kept example of one of Fender’s most desirable Pre-CBS circuits. Both the head and cabinet retain their original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. In terms of hardware, the plastic “dogbone” handle on the head is original, while the handle on the cab is a modern replacement. The original faceplate is intact and quite clean, complete with original white barrel knobs. All other hardware is 100% stock, with original tilt-back chrome legs and stops, sphinx glides (feet), flat metal Fender logos, nickel corners and piggyback clip bars. Up for sale is an excellent and underrated tube amp by Peavey.. This one flies under the radar, but it is a very good sounding tube amp. Just check all of the youtube videos and what the owners have to say about this unit. Runs on 3 preamp tubes as well 2 6l6GC power tubes. This amp seems to have a little bit more control knobs than a typical Peavey Tube amp from the 70s and 80s, like the Peavey Bravo. And this is a good thing! Gives it some really good versatility and allows the owner to have a lot of control over their sound, with many shades available. The typical knobs, like bass, mid and treble, are very reactive! Youve got enough options there to really change up the flavors of your sounds! But then youve also got the ability to pull out the pre (amp) knob and gives you a little more brightness to your sound.. Perfect for humbucker guitars, like my Schecter Synyster Gates Standard and modded Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Theres the pump knob, which I think is the analog to the saturation knobs on the other aforementioned Peavey tube amps, which increases the gain, saturation and sustain to your overdrive. Perfect for adjusting your solos and leads. You can also pull the post (gain) knob and make you sound smooth as Peavey calls it. Sounds to me like it adds some bass frequencies and possibly some low mid frequencies. Perfect for single coil guitars. Pull out the high knob on your parametric eq, and it makes your sound thick according to Peavey. Sounds like low mids get boosted once again, and possibly some high mids and bass/lows. Did I mention that this amp also has a presence control? Add real spring reverb that sounds really good to the mix, and youve got a total all-in-one unit with the nice warm sounds of valves! Not to mention, this amp has been upgraded with a practically brand new Celestion Seventy-80 (70-Eighty) speaker! Many good sounds can had from this box. Even if you keep the pre-amp gain low, the pump control low, and turn up the post or power amp volume, you can get a very nice classic rock crunch. It would also work well for country rhythms and for solos in soft rock. No problems with the sound of this particular unit either! The power tubes are fairly new and all you get from this machine is tone, tone, tone! No cleaning pots necessary at this time…. None of them are scratchy!!!!!! Such and amazing wealth and variety of sounds can be had from this excellent amp. Definitely a must have! 1974 Dual Showman Reverb Amp. This is a 1974 Fender Dual Showman Reverb 100 Watt amp in excellent working condition. It is also in excellent visual condition with very good tolex with minimal nicks. It is equipped with four 6L6GC power tubes, two 12AT7 pre-amp/reverb tubes and four 12AX7A pre-amp tubes. They were all recently checked to be 100% good. All knobs on the control panel are original. The tolex, feet, handle and metal parts are original. Comes with an original footswitch for reverb & vibrato.
