JUST OUT OF THE SHOP —- AND WORKING GREAT. THE CHALLENGER MODEL CH8 FOUR TUBE AMPLIFIER. PLENTY OF POWER HERE WITH A HEAVY HITTER TUBE LINE-UP: 5Y3 / 6L6 / 6SJ7 / 6AV6. WE THINK OUR TECH IS THE BEST IN PITTSBURGH. HE HAS MAGIC IN HIS HANDS WHEN IT COMES TO FIXING OLD ELECTRONIC. WE GAVE HIM THIS CHALLENGER. I THINK HE TOOK IT PERSONALLY AS A “CHALLENGE”. HE TORE OUT ALL THE BAD CAPACITORS (see the last gallery photo). HE UPGRADED THE WIRING… AND PUT IN GOOD STRONG USED TUBES. IT’S AS IF THE AMP HAS BEEN REBORN. YOU SHOULD HEAR THIS AMP NOW. IT HAS A GREAT WARM TUBE SOUND. AND PLENTY OF VOLUME. THE SOUND IS CLEAR AND WELL ROUNDED IN ALL THE RANGES. HERE’S THE PERFECT AMP FOR ALMOST ANY APPLICATION WHERE YOU WANT THE GREAT WARM SOUND THAT YOU GET FROM TUBES. USE IT A YOUR PRACTICE OR TAKE IT OUT ON THE JOB.
